I have master CS6 on Mac Pro, and I have trouble saving the photo to JPG, as it seems there is no option as to save JPG, GIF or PNG - and even the save to web is greyed out. I would like to save in these mentioned formats as a default. Why is this saving to PSD, instead?

Recently I've noticed, when uploading some photo's to my web site that the file size is rather small. I know that cropping, processing, and saving to jpeg results in file size reduction.
So ... I did a test. I took one photo shot in the raw format (the file size was about 21 mp). I then took it into Photoshop CS5 and just saved it as a jpeg ... and the file size went to 9.9 mp. I found that to be a questionable reduction.
My image size details of the test photo is:

5616 px x 3744 px
Document Size:
18.72 x 12.48 and 300 px Resolution
All of the following are checked:
Scale Style
Constrain Proportions
Resize Image
I have selected:
Bicubic (best for smooth gradients)
I saved the photo at the highest quality setting of 12
So the Question: Is this test reduction normal or am I doing something wrong with my "save as" settings
My wife and I use CS4. Lately after she edits a photo and saves it as a jpeg, something happens. It's like it doesn't save with the .jpg extention. When she goes to her pictures folder to open the file, there is a blank thumbnail and it won't open until she manually adds a .jpg to the end or sometimes it won't even save.

We use a Nikon to take the pics - Pics come out great, the colors looks like actual coin when viewing in photoshop and in the XP viewer and when we ever have to print the pic. Here's the problem, when we go to save for web its changes the color drastically. A penny that once had a red tone to it now has a brown tone. I've read all over the place for ways to fix it and we've tried them all. Changing the monitor color profile, converting the profile, etc. I understand that everyone's monitors are different and everyone is gonna see it differently anyways, but it would be nice if the pic would like the same on our computer vs the website. It seems like when we first starting do this several yrs ago we didnt have this problem. Has things changed within the program and/or the web to have made these changes happen? Is this something we are gonna have to deal with? We dont have the time to adjust every single picture to make sure the save to web looks right.

I am unhappy with the results and want to remove the watermark. Despite not saving my watermarked photos, I see the watermark. Is there a way to preview the watermark before anything gets permanent? View 5 Replies View RelatedNew to this forum and PSP (X4 Ultimate). Working on a raw file (dng) in the Edit tab, I make changes then save to a jpg in another folder. The next day I want to undo some of the changes so I edit the dng raw file again but all my previous changes are no longer available. Am I doing something wrong? Or are my previous changes just no longer available in the raw file? Doesn't PSP keep track of changes made to raw files so you can continue to evolve the image? As I said, I am new at PSP so I hope I'm just doing something wrong. I have used Lightroom for a while now but I really like what PSP can do and the speed to make changes , especially to portraits.

New installation on xp with sp3.
Open a graphic and saving or exporting as jpg, gif or png crashes the program without info or savings.
Same file saving as bmp, cpt, eps, tiff or psd works.
I must of changed something but I don't know what , when I upload a photos and simply save it without doing anything (and adding/changing photo) it saves it but in a lower quality .
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am saving an adobe illustrator file as a jpeg for print at a photo center. When I export to save with a 300ppi, the photo center (Target) doesn't recognize the jpeg file. When I save for web, the photo center recognizes the file, but it prints very low quality (pixelized). Both jpegs are being saved at high quality.

I resample the image -- reduce the physical size from, in this case, 53 inches to 8 inches high, and increase resolution from 72 to 300 dpi, with the resulting file size smaller than the original. I save the file, then import into my layout in Coreldraw. The imported file is back to 72 dpi and the physical size is huge. I reopen the file in PP, resample again, and resave under a new file name. Same problem occurs when I import into Draw. Of course, I can physically shrink the file to 3 inches high and the resulting dpi will be 300.
View 13 Replies View RelatedWhen I got X3 I checked out the photo Organiser hoping it would be an all in one image solution for me. It would not recognise tags I had added in Win Photo Gallery and because I had heaps of pics I decided to stick with Photo Gallery. That leaves me with another problem with ratings though. If I have a star rating on a file in Photo Gallery and open the file in PSPPX3 the rating disappears once I save the file again - even if I have made no alterations. Frustrating - I have to remember to re-rate any files I process. The rating is preserved in the PSP Organiser but has gone from Photo Gallery.
It is also interesting that whereas tags added in PSPPX3 are recognised in Photo Gallery, the converse is not the case.
I don't mind not using PSP Organiser, I bought the program for the editor, but I wish PSP would not interfere with the things other organisers are using. I presume it is part of the EXIF data.
I have a around 500 cdr(corel draw ) files, and each pages have around 20 images in it.
so what i do. select every single image on the pages then using convert bitmap option to save them on my computer. That consume my whole time in saving them to my computer.
Is there any fast option available to select all images at once and convert to bitmap 20 images and save in a number say 1,2 ...20
I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.
