Photoshop :: Redraw/refresh Problems Photoshop CS3
Feb 16, 2009
Information: I'm running an AMD Athlon64 X2 at 2.4GHz with 2GB RAM and a Radeon HD3850 videocard (512MB version, though that isn't really the issue I think) on Windows XP Home SP3, all updates applied except the ones like Windows Search etc.
All latest drivers have been installed and work fine. The machine is tweaked to run at just about 20 processes, and works very fast. Games (also newer ones) work perfectly, so I don't think it's a physical defect on the videocard in terms of artifacts). Code:

this video shows Photoshop CS4 (without Open GL enabled - since it's completely useless with a fully updated Nvidia 7300) trying to hide and show guides on a simple image.  This has to be the first time since my old IBM that I'm the one waiting for the computer to finish.

I just installed the CS4 Photoshop and have a major issue which makes it impossible for me to use cs4. I used to work with cs3 on the same machine and had not a single problem:Even though I disabled the OpenGL Feature I have an about 100 pixel redraw when I use a brush. Everything else is fine! When I turn OpenGL on it gets even worse. Is there any solution for this?(Yes I already downloaded the latest drivers and downloaded the patch and resteted all settings)

Has anyone else noticed the the screen redraw does not allways happen after moving a slider in Version 11.1. Quite often I have to change the fit to screen or fill screen to have a redraw preformed. I also sometimes need to flatten the layers in order to save the file.Another abnormality I came across was trying to save a >2 GB PSD panoramic file in 64 bit PS creates an error message that the file cannot be saved."Greater than 2 GB". This means I have to flatten the image before saving.System is Vista 64 bit Ultimate with 8GB memory, 200 GB scratch drive.

Nothing open but Bridge and Photoshop-CS3
If I open more than two large files (30-40mb in size) and I try to drag the images around the screen, it will hang or not finish redrawing the image in it's new location. Sometimes it will crash PS.
XP Pro-Dual processor-4 gig rams-7900GS/256mb video card
Dell 30" WFP monitor.
Doesn't happen with CS2.
Is this a bug in CS3, or does it need more video ram?
Would a ram card with 512mb

I have been a long time Photoshop user and am having screen redraw problems since I have purchased a new system. I did not have this problem on my Macbook Pro which was hooked up to the same monitor.
Problem is: When I open a file in CS5 (12.0) and move the image around screen Its not redrawing smoothly. There is some stair-stepping artifacting going on. Its not lagging....just creating some stair-stepping like artifacting.
If I open the same file in "Preview" (version 6.0) and recreate the same image movement there are no problems.
System is :
Mac OS mountain lion 8.0
Mac Pro 3.2 Quad core (5,1)
Monitor NEC PA271W (W/spectraview)
GPU is ATI Raedon 5770
Monitor to Mac connection is DVI to DVI

CS4 EXtended
Nvidia 8800 GTS 512
Intel Quad Q6850 3.0MHz
4Gb ram
3TB Hard drive
Vista 32
Installed CS4, all went well.
When I try and use CS4 the screen does seem to update.
For example. Have an image open..... Grad tool.....
Now the grad doesnt show, until i click on say enlarge or another tool.
Same for everything I do, I have to click on a tool or enlarge to get the screen to update.

There is a plugin that can solve the edge problem when using the tool redraw characters?Sure I can write each character in its own layer with its own color but maybe there is a simpler solution.

Imagine that you have couple of spheres in your scene and you want to manually rearrange them. You click on one and immediately drag your mouse to move it, and it works just fine and fast while they are sphere primitives. But, if you convert them to edit poly things get messed up, now if you click and start to drag you need to wait for about a second for the thing to start moving. And it's the bloody edit poly's fault. It's command panel UI is just drawing too slow. Why is this? Is this something that just is in max now? Because the same thing annoyed me in 2011 and now in 2012. Or is it me who is doing something wrong? Also interesting is that this problem completely disappears when I add some modifier with a "small ui", like PUSH, to all of the objects. Everything is back to fast and snappy again.
This slowness also happens when I want to switch sub-object levels, it redraws every time, and it redraws slowly.

will not refresh the image until I move it or go to another viewer and back. The layers panel refreshes for example but when you turn off layer visability on a given layer or make a change to a layer that change doesn't show in the image pane - until you move the pane or leave the pane and then reselect it.

I am having issues with my Photoshop CS5, for some reason if I make any changes to my PSD they don't display straight away as normal, I have been having to zoom in/out of the PSD to force the changes to appear, whether its adding/editing text or images, just anything won't show straight away like it used to. I haven't added any plugins that I know of, it's pretty stock standard version 12.0.4 x64 and I assumed it maybe graphic card related so just updated to the latest drivers with no luck so i'm lost..

If I open a dialog window (for example, edit/Color Settings or help/about)
and close the dialog, a single blank line appears in the middle of the menu
line (from File to X). If I minimize/restore PS window, the menu line
returns to normal. If I mouse over an item on the menu line, its appearance
returns to normal.

I'm fairly new to AutoCad and i'm using it on a mac. How I go about getting one drawing into another document without having to redraw it?
I have a plan and elevations in seperate documents and how to get the elevations into the same document as the plan without having to redraw every elevation.

Are there any good video tutorials for redrawing logo such as the one I'm including. Some of my clients don't have the original artwork and I'm stuck with having to redraw small images to get better quality.

I just started using Photoshop CS3. I've found that when using it occasionally other application windows will stop refreshing properly, and will only sparatically update. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm on Xp Pro with 4GB and dual xeons.

my Addin changes the coordinate systems of some occurrences in a while(running) - loop. After each iteration, i want to update the 3D-View in Inventor to show the calculated changes. For this, i call the Update Method of the current View (ActiveView property of Application).
Unfortunately, the redraw does not happen unless i keep moving the mouse over the window. Is there another method / way to achieve the desired result (forced redrawing for smooth animations)? The Update method of the Document does not seem to work, either.

There appears to be a bug in CS6 - does this work in any version of Photoshop?
Problem - data sets are not refreshed when contents of the data file are changed, despite clicking "Apply Data Set".
The latest updates are installed, running on Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit, plenty of RAM and available storage. This has never worked before and appears to be a bug in the software. I’ve gone so far as to close PS and even rebooted between steps 4 and 5, same problem. Here's how to recreate it:
1. Create a psd, define variables (I've tried both text and graphic layers)
2. Assign csv file as "Data Set", save the psd
3. Run export, close psd
4. Chage data in csv that was defined as Data Set, save and close csv file
5. Re-open same psd
6. Click "Apply Data Set" - nothing happens
Data is NOT refreshed regardless of whether Data Set 1 or “All data sets” is selected. The only thing that seems to work is to open the PSD and redefine the exact same file as the data set again, then batch export. Because I'd be dealing with volumes of psd files that use volumes of Data Set files that change daily, this isn't feasible.
Defining (or redefining the same file) cannot be recorded in batch mode, nor through the listener (tried previous version just to see).

I'm experiencing strange layer comps behaviors since Photoshop 13.0.2 update, on an existing .psd file. If some comps are correctly rendered, some others are not refreshed: layers visibility is not updated, workspace seems to be frozen, using for instance the magnifier tool to zoom in/out renders a completely white workspace, and moving then my mouse pointer above it only refreshes its lower half part (a little bit more actually). Moreover, Photoshop CPU consumption becomes quite high as long as I stay on such composition (around 50% CPU instead of 2% compared to working comps).
I've tried to disable GPU from Photoshop preferences, Machine is a mid-2010 17" MBP w/ i7@2.66. No problem with the same .psd file before upgrading to 13.0.2..

I have a task to redraw floor plans of an existing object (5 floors of 5000m2)... The problem lies in the existing drawings which contain incorrect dimensions.
Now, since the shape and position of elements is generally correct I am able to approximate to a 0.5-1.0m (witch I find annoying).
My question is:
How would you do the task having in mind that when SOME correct dimensions turn up (are measured on site) correcting the rest doesn't become a pain.

I made some basic adjustments in Lightroom and then opened the image as a smart object in Photoshop. If I decide to make more changes in Lightroom how do I tell Photoshop to 'refresh' the underlying image?

I'm running Elements 11 on Windows 7. My photo album was initially in Picasa but we imported all the photos (e.g. 13,000+) into Lightroom 4 and Elements 11.
Lightroom correctly imported all the files (including all images in the .picassa orignals sub-folder), while Elements only imported a subset of the files.
Elements didn't import any images in the .picassa original folder, and also omitted many folders as well as the contents of some folders.
Is there a file watcher 'refresh' that will reimport all the images? I suppose I could delete the 'watched' folder from the file watcher and then re-initiate the add. However, since I don't know why files and folder were missed in the first place, I'd like to understand my options.

Since running x6 my system takes an unrealistic time to refresh graphics. I am working with a simple file and it takes 3 to four seconds to refresh after zooming in. My processor on CPU and Video card barely take a 20% hit.
Is Corel not setup to use the resources available? Is there some sort of Mad Hatter trick to fix it?
Here is a shot of the file I am working on after a fresh restart.

Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex.
This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.
How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

i'm having a problem with my photoshop extended cs4, it doesn't refresh by turning layers on and off, as well as undo and redo (can't see changes directly, have to click somewhere on the image before refresh)
i tried to update my video drivers but still no luck, btw my gfx is ati radeon x1400 mobile (lenovo t60), i tried to turn it Enable OpenGL Drawing on, but by so, it causes my image to be broken (square everywhere), so i turn it off.

I am working with vector art that has lines that either look like they were cut off and not finished out or extend to the edge of the page so they are straight when they should actually be curved.
Is there any way to take a straight line or part of an image and curve it with ease or will I have to redraw or alter each line?

Just started with CDRX6 (Upgrade) and find a frustrating feature with text in text frames. If you import text into a frame and then move the position of the frame in the layout, the text repositions in a waterfall motion within the frame. It takes a second or two to settle down, and the frame also jumps position somewhere else en route before reaching the point you are dragging it to. It can be moved more smoothly using the arrow keys, but that is painfully slow.
I do not have this problem with X5. Is it a symptom of some new feature in X6, or is it a fault in installation?

I use external/linked images because the file is multipaged and as I am working continuously on it every "Save" command takes less time.
Every image is there on HDD in the same folder as CDR-file. Today I opened this file and the images look very bad - one couldn't see what is pictured there. The question is how to refresh them? I don't see such an option.
