View 3 RepliesMy drawing just dissappeared while I was still working on it and when I try to recover the drawing file shows a blank page, I'm using an AutoCad 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince My Documents is where I put all my *useful* files/folders, I like to keep it clean and organized. I don't want it cluttered up with folders that programs are using to store "work" files, as is the case with PSP. I went to preferences and laboriously changed ALL File Locations to the user/my-name/appdata/...etc. area. But when I saved, exited and reloaded PSP, those folders were created again. Checking the File Locations in preferences again showed that the appdata ones I had put in were still the top (primary) folder option, but the ones directing the files to "documents" had been created again as the third entry in each category.
How can I keep these folders/files OUT of My Documents?
As I've said I am new to photoshop although the interface and commands are quite familiar once wroked with the video editing programs.I have satrted work on a logo which has 3layers.I have saved the project(as .psd)and when I have re opened the project all 3layers now appear as 1!!!thus I cannot edit them seperately.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way of getting the 3layers as before? If there isnt a way can anyone advice for next time how to save the project?
I've lost some Photoshop cs 8.0 files and have been told by a recovery company that they can't be saved. I've attached a screen shot of icons that appear to show what seems to remain of one of the files. You will see it has 3 different icons that correspond to it. One a 'thumbnail'; one a 'meta' and one an 'exec' file.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA rather important piece of digital art from has gone missing, but as it's a couple years old it's unlikely to still be sitting somewhere in the hard drive's free memory. However, I did find an 'Adobe Photoshop file browser metadata cache file' and an 'Adobe Photoshop file browser thumbnail cache file' that have names similar to the original piece of art.
However, can't see a way of opening them. Photoshop tells me it's 'not the right kind of document', and I don't know what other application to use.
So, I ask of you all, do I have any hope of recovering the image?
I am building a page for a web site. when i have created a button, with a rollover effect and then save it, i have trouble recovering the button. the button is saved with all different files containing the different slices. how do i go to the saved file and get it back to the original button that i created.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?
I use Photoshop Elements 8 and the Organizer which I find useful in sorting and saving specific images as my wife is an wildlife photograophre and I like to add images to specific files on the right hand side. ie one for plovers another for reptiles etc.
I lost sight of all the files so cannot add further images that I still have to 'organize'.
Photoshop keeps recovering the same image over and over. How can I make it stop?I don't need the image. I already tried saving it to multiple locations.

Not in the trash. I thought i remembered in the older version of adobe camera raw that if you deleted on there the image remained on the drive sorce?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was at work today and opened a Ps document that someone else had created. I don't know what I did (I'm a relatively new Ps user) and I don't even know how I ended up saving it. The document is floor plans overlaid on a site plan with logos, text. etc. (so, it's too complicated for my limited time and knowledge to be able to re-import the source document and re-format the entire thing). When I first opened the document, all the floor plans looked normal, but now, one no longer has a white background. The black outlines of the rooms are still there, but there's nothing underneath (I see the gray and white checkerboard background between the black outlines). I need to know how to make that area white again. It seems to me like maybe I deleted a layer... maybe... I don't know...? I can't just use the fill tool to fill white into the background space because (a) the entire shape is not closed, so applying a fill to one area fills the entire document and (b) I know that's not the right way to do it... I'm trying to get it back to the way it's supposed to be, not just make it look right because other people from work might still use the electronic file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used Gimp successfully for a couple of years—but now it’s usable. I can’t adjust the size of the brush, paint, eraser or use other functions because below the tools palate all I see is “You can drop dockable dialog here” and every function that used to be in that space is gone. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it stays the same. How can I bring back all the functions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI hit render early in the am to ship out a project for delivery. And in classic Johnny Fegan fashion my mac pro crashes, and won't boot. So my next step is to start the mac in Target Disk mode, via firewire(probably the second worst thing that has happened to me, firewire) and started to backup everything. Due to the fast turn around on the Project, I never had a chance to archive the project.
My current working config(on the mac pro that died) was an internal raid0, and a pci express ssd. The raid is where I keep my local Autodesk Media Storage folder, and the ssd is my system drive(/usr/discreet). I just completed a back up of both folders to my secondary mac pro, with a license of smoke installed, and am trying to open my project on it. I set the backup copy of my old Autodesk Media Storage folder up to be used under the Smoke setup utility, and when I access it in smoke the only option I get is to create a new project.
Is there a way to get this project back online?
I was working on my .idw and my autodesk inventor 2012 fatal errored on me. Well when I re-opened the program and drawing all my work was gone. Does inventor have a back up file like autocad. I know autocad had 2 back up files (.sv$ and .bak). Does inventor have anything like that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I spent 4 days working on a profile last week. And this morning I opened it up and accidentally erased the alignment, saved and closed the drawing (I must have thought it was in another drawing, and I wasn't paying attention).
Now the profile is gone and I'm wondering if I can open up a drawing that was saved before I did this mix up. I checked my autosave path, but the path doesn't exist. So I don't know where it's be autosaving to.
I have in this moment a drawing displaying a layout with 2 Viewports. One of the them has only the View Cube even that the Navigation Bar under the User interface is checked out -greyout anyways as you can see in the Word Document-
In the other viewport, even that the it is active, I do not have neither the View Cube or the Navigation Bar. How is possible to recover these tools and display them in the active Viewport in the Layout that I am currently on.
I am attaching a Word Document that shows better the problem that I am having now.
Illustrator crashed in the middle of working on a file. Looked around for a recovered file on the desktop. Nothing. Can't seem to find any option to set my Preferences for auto-save.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive crashed. I successfully recovered 90% of all the data. However, there are a few folders containg CR2s that seem to be corrupt- they cannot be converted into jpegs, tiffs, etc nor opened in LR. I was ready to consider them lost and gone forever, but there are a couple reasons why I still have hope they can be recovered:
1) On the new hard drive where everything was recovered to, all the "corrupt" CR2s have viewable thumbs of the actual photos. (they weirdly all read as 16.8 MBs)
2) On the crashed hard drive, the "corrupt" CR2s have NO viewable thumbs like the recovered drive. However, each CR2 has what can be assumed to be the correct file size as they all vary in MB and resolution.
3) As mentioned, 90% of the CR2s were recovered.
So, I want to believe the crashed hard drive has the proper file size and data, but somehow got lost upon recovery because the CR2 thumbs are all viewable on the new hard drive. I just cant open them in LR, convert them, etc.
I can not run purge or recover on the attached drawing file or it will crash autocad. When I run audit it says no errors are found. I don't have access to older versions of ACAD to test this on and the file is dated back in 2008 but not sure which version of ACAD it was created in.
This is the only copy of the file. I've opened it and added some linework and saved it as a newer drawing only to have the same results. The attached file is the unaltered version. I have one other file that I'm having the same issue with as well.
Our server went done and our IT people are trying to recover lost cad files.
We have tried in AutoCAD the recover command with no success.
How we can recover these files or recommend a software to recover these files?
I accidentally deleted some files from my SD card and hard drive thinking I had them backed up, turns out they weren't. However, the photos still show up in my Lightroom collections, is there any way I can save the files that are on Lightroom to my hard drive? I'm running Lightroom 5 on a mac.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I were to work on a file and proceed to close it and then re-open it with the intent of undoing or recovering information, is there anyway to do this?
It may be useful for me and others to know if there is a way round in case this does happen.
Needed to purge items in a drawing to recover a drawing in order to repair corruption within it it. I purged and audited the drawing in question and then created a block or the drawing elements which I imported to a new drawing sheet. That's great, all is well but.....obviously (now) the only layers, dimscale, etc. items I normally use in my template sheet are gone and only the items remaining after the purge are the ones that were in my original drawing.
How can I, or can I replace my normal full layer list, dim settings, blocks, etc?
So I use Photoshop a lot. I think I got CS6.Anyways. Last week I could play 3 internet files, two movies, photoshop 5 different documents and much more. However, now I can't open internet and do photoshop. I have to restart my computer to run photoshop and make sure I don't use any other program. Sometimes the file only lasts 30 minutes before it won't allow me to edit.
I have A LOT of room left on my computer. 706GB free of 907GB. I tried to clean my computer, but that didn't work. It also is saying extrusion file is curruptied or damaged.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended on a MacBook Pro 15 (Late 2011) running Mac OS X 10.7.3. When I open a document in Photoshop, the document window is nowhere to be found yet it allows me to edit things within the document via double-clicking layers in the layers panel. Why does this happen and how do I fix it?
I've tried opening multiple documents at once, using the "arrange windows" option, and changing the workspace, all to no avail. The only thing I have found is restarting the entire system each time. This isn't something I want to continue to do.
I just bought Photoshop CS5 and I can not open RAW documents with it. It happened to me the same problem with Element 8 and I managed to install CameraRaw8 on it.
I did the same manipulation and this error message show up: "Unable to use the Camera Raw plug-in"
I have some really important paperwork i need edited, dates changed. I already scanned the document. All I want to do is change some dates around and I cant seem to figure it out.
