Photoshop :: Photoshop CS3 Colors Displaying...
Jun 19, 2009
I just bought a copy of Photoshop CS3 and I have it installed on my desktop and my laptop. Photoshop CS3 is working fine on my laptop, but the colors aren't displaying correctly on my desktop. I'll construct an image, save it and open it in another program or a browser, and the colors will be a little different. I've attached a screenshot to better illustrate my point.

When I Save For Web the color shifts. It becomes more vibrant (which I would prefer...). I have reset the settings for photoshop followed by a uninstall/install of photoshop and am still getting the color shift. I got new monitors somewhat recently but set up the color profile via adobe gamma's thing ( I had to download that seperatly, I couldn't find it in the Control Panel).I don't think it's the color profile of the monitor because everything else seems fine. I have never had to use any of the settings for color management before so I've never opened those (I've hit Ctrl+y on occassion on accidnet..) Here is a jpg of the difference(of course it's been processed 2x..so it's a little bit more vibrant but it's still visible)I included the settings I have in the jpg.

When opening a photo with some bright yellows in the foreground, the yellows all become "hot", and show up like it's some sort of a filter being applied. This is making it impossible to work with the photo & make adjustments in the Camera RAW lab. The same thing does not happen when the photo is opened to "edit" directly (versus working with it in Camera RAW lab).Â

When I open JPEGS or RAW images in photoshop they have a dull, flat color to them. This is happening after recently buying a NEW PA271W wide-gamut display and calibrating it using Spectraview 2. It doesn't matter whether I have the Working Space in PS set to Adobe RGB or sRGB under color settings... The only way I can make my image look normal is to go under settings and ASSIGN PROFILE to Adobe RGB. It looks fine then. I could live with that, except the bigger problem is that I begin my editing process in RAW, where the colors are also looking flat. The best I can tell, there is no way to assign a profile at this stage...
I've been working in photoshop many years and I do know that RAW images have a 'flatter' appearance to being with, but this is something completely different. For example, when I slide photoshop onto my other monitor next to it (I have multiple monitors) - the color reverts to the normal color I want . And if I then slide photoshop back onto my new NEC monitor, the normal color actually stays intact for about two seconds, then reverts back to the dull color. So I am unable to begin my work process in RAW since the colors are wrong. Also, I know that my new monitor is capbable of displaying my images in their proper colors because when I use any of several different image viewers I have - irfanview, etc. - everything is fine. It's only in photoshop.Â

~ I want to purge the color yellow from autocad. ~
Is it possible to override all the colors of an existing *.DWG to a Monochrome Format? I want to be able to open any autocad file and veiw everything in black and white IN MODEL SPACE.Â
I am not interested in 'changing layer colors' or 'manually changing blocks to the right color.' Right now, I explode the entire drawing (several times depending on how deep something is grouped) and change the color to by layer, but sometimes blocks become contaminated and lose all their data. (In addition, I am not interested in plotting in Monochrome.)
If this task is impossible, is it possible to change the definition of the color "yellow." What I mean by the previous statement is to trick autocad into thinking it is using 'yellow' when it is actually using a different color. Sort of like an induced color blindness.
SUMMARY: I don't want to change a color FROM yellow, I just don't want yellow TO EXIST.

I used to have X4 installed on XP and it worked fine. Recently I re-install the program onto my new Win7 PC. It was working fine at first but one day my CMYK palette turn into some weird colors (much brighter than the original one)Â
I tried to hold F8 to launch X4 to turn it back to dafault settings but no go. I tried uninstall and reinstall and it's the same. Finally I downloaded the latest X5 Free trial and the color palettes are displaying correctly! (So i figure it's not my monitor's problem nor some Windows setting.)
(X5 Displaying the correct CMYK color palette)(Ised X4 for a few days and the colors became much brighter than the original ones.)

I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine. All licences were validated so no problems there. Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.
Â
If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket. But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.

Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
Â
I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. See attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.

The colors of pictures is much darker when working in photoshop than when I open it normally. And vice versa, I work on images inside photoshop, and I get the colors I want, but once I save it to bmp or jpg or anything else, all the colors are much lighter.
i'm using photoshop 7.

My old laptop tried to self-destruct, so I was forced to move a huge amount of art files to a new laptop. Now, I have no thumbnails in Photoshop (PS3 using XP Professional) and oddly enough, it appears that often entire folders and files aren't showing up when they're actually there. The only thing I'm seeing is the PSD logo. .tifs, .jpgs, and other formats aren't even showing up as being on the disk.
I've gone through all settings that I know of and can't seen to find the 'fix'.

How do you people constantly attach images to your posts? The feature only way I can see allows up to 768000 bytes, and I can't for the life of me get an image (.jpg) down to that little... do you guys use some compression program, or does the size limit increase by posts or something? I'm having problems posting stuff in other threads, so I thought I'd ask. ^^

CDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.
Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?

We are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.Â

Using CS6 on a MacBookPro Is there a way to find the closest matching Pantone spot colors to the cmyk colors I've created in Illustrator? I know it's easy in Photoshop using the color picker, but there must be a way to do this in Illustrator.

I have just started using Photoshop and have uploaded all my photos from my computer's hard-drive, and am displaying them using the 'Folders' view in Organizer. Unfortunately, all the photos are being displayed twice - once within 'Pictures' and once within 'Macintish HD'>'Users'>'Amy'>'Pictures'. I would like the photos to appear only once so that I know which set I am working from.Â

why is Photoshop displaying green as blue? In the picker, it's clearly showing green. But when I create a shape, it's a light blue. When I open other images, I get a similar color distortion.

I am a Fireworks user who fears the discontinuation now that adobe has acquired macromedia so I'm finally gunna learn photoshop.
I downloaded the try-out version of PS CS2 and loaded up a photo but it displays incredibly dark, and no amount of messing with edit->color is fixing it.
If I view the image in fireworks, or just in windows xp default image display, the colors are fine. When I load the image in PS, it is extremely dark.
It is not my monitor. I downloaded PS and put it on my other computer and the colors displayed fine - not dark at all.
Here is my hardware:
AMD athlon X2 3800+
2x1GB Sticks of ram (2G
Asus A8N-SLI nForce4 Mobo
120GB Maxtor Drive
ATI X800 256MB graphics card.
19" Samsung 191T LCD
No matter what I do it looks dark. This is extremely strange. It is not my monitor - as images look fine outside PS, ane they continue to look dark even if I switch the monitor to a CRT.
I've done several uninstalls of PS and reinstalled.

You can see in the attached screen cap that colors 1-9 appear as white on my screen and that colors 10-22 are not correct either. This is only occuring in one specific drawing. Is there a preference that I switched somewhere that would make this happen? I have double checked that everything is ByLayer or ByColor that I can think of. If I insert this color chart into other drawings it looks fine. using C3D 2012.Â
I would just restart my drawing, however it is the new company template file that I have invested many hours into and would really like to be able to keep working with it and not start over. Or is there a good way to import and overwrite all the Prospector settings into a blank drawing?

I am having a problem with Photoshop CS5 Extended V 12.1.
Â
The problem:
When I open some files, some shades of BLUE colour is displayed as BLACK However the same file opens and displays correctly if I open it using Photoshop Elements V9.0.3.When I save the file as JPEG and re-open it, the problem returns.Opening the JPEG file in any other application, including PS Elements, does not cause the problem
Â
Source of files The original files came from a Nikon camera, saved in RAW format. It is possible that the original files were corrupted in some way as the shots had an unusual blue cast - which was easily resolved by Photoshop when I originally opened the RAW files.problem is not universal as I've not been able to reproduce it with any other files (RAW or JPEG).
Â
I have calibrated my monitor display settings sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (default)
Â
Other information:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 12.1
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bitVersion: 6.1 Service Pack 1
System architecture: Intel CPU

I have CS5 and am playing around with CS6. So far so good, impressed overall.
Â
I like to have Bridge set up to display the Metadata for each image, and when I view the metadata, it is not as complete as what I see in the CS5 version of Bridge.
Â
Specifically, I like to be able to see the Subject Distance, which is recorded for the camera/lens combination I'm using. In Bridge CS5, the Subject Distance displays just fine, but it is completely absent in CS6.
Â
Also, I like to see the ISO as well. In Bridge CS5, it shows nicely as "ISO Speed Ratings" while in Bridge CS6, it shows as "(ISO) Photographic Sensitivity" - kind of excessive.
Â
To verify this, I made sure *all* metadata options were chosen to display, but Subject Distance is not showing up anywhere, and the ISO is a bit wordy.
Â
How to get it to display Subject Distance, which is contained in the metadata.

I downloaded an image of a web template to look at the colours more closely before possibly purchasing it and when I opened the image in CS4 it had a bunch of triangular blocked out areas - kind of like a mask of some sort I think. I then tried creating a new document and opening an existing, unrelated PSD file and now they have the same triangular blocked out areas.Â
