Photoshop :: Moving Type Along A Path?

Apr 1, 2009

Starting with a circular shape, I've got type around two-thirds of a circular path. Now I want to grab the sentence and move it to start further down on the circular path. What tool/sequence to I use to grab type and move it along a path?

Illustrator :: Create Single Path To Type On Not Compound Path From Many Paths?

May 11, 2012

I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.

Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)

Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.

Photoshop :: Moving A Selection Of A Type Layer

Apr 1, 2005

I've got a type layer, and I want to move a certain selection of type, but it seems to only want to move the entire layer. Here's what I've got:

I want to move the "Web Developer" type so that it's centered under "Gibran Shah". I'm using the Rectangular Marquee Tool to form a rectangle around "Web Developer" and then the Move Tool to move it. When I move it, it moves the entire type layer. How do I get it to move only the selected region.

For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

Photoshop :: CS6 Type On A Path And Work Paths

Sep 19, 2012

Has any body else noticed that if you create a work path, then create a shape layer (say a rectangle) and type some text on the rectangle (text on a path) that if you commit the type and switch to the Path Selection Tool to edit the path text (position of the starting or end points) photoshop cs6 replaces your previous workpath with a workpath of the shape layer you typed on?

Is photoshop cs6 supposed to work that way?

Windows 8 x64 and photoshop 13.01 new document a create a workpath create a rectangle shape layer and type on the rectangle shape layer path. The orginal workpath has been replaced by the rectangle shape layer path

Photoshop :: Type Tool - Text On A Path

Mar 6, 2012

I created a path with the type tool, selected the path in the Paths panel, I started typing on the path and the type followed the path, though I chose edit > free transform path and scaled it, though the text did not move with the new path and now it is no longer on the path?

1. Why did the text not stay on the path as I transformed it?
2. How do you hide the path so you do not have to see it? I want it there only as a guide for my text to flow across.

Photoshop :: Multiple Lines Of Type Along Path

Sep 11, 2012

I have a sort of ring doughnut shape (just to be clear, a circle with the center cut out) and want to add text within this shape.  To make the shape, I created a larger circle, then a smaller circle overlapping it and chose "Exclude Overlapping Shapes".

I can obviously click within the larger circle and then type along this path, either outside or inside depending on the baseline shift %, but the trouble is my text is multiple lines.  When I press 'enter' I don't get a new line, I just lose the typing tool.  Surely there's a way to do this? I'm using Photoshop CS6.

GIMP :: Moving Text After Adding Along A Path

Nov 16, 2012

I'm creating text along a path and then stroking the outline and adding a gradient fill - this is all fine. The problem comes when I want to move it, as once the text is added along the path, it often doesn't follow the path until the end so I'd like to centre it on the page, or maybe move it vertically a bit to fit around other stuff as I add to the image.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Moving Attached Bodies Along A Path?

May 10, 2012

I've used the transitional constraints with good results but unfortunatley the cams are moving all over the place when I try to move them by dragging with the mouse and not very stable.

I'm trying to animate a couple of bodies along a path with a workpoint that will move the assembly at the beginning  created using a rectangular array along the path.  I have a UJ in the middle of the bodies attaching them together.  As I change the distance of the rectangular array it will move the first body as expected.  How I constrain the other body to follow along the path with the ride points as labeled?

I've trieds almost everything I think.  Should I use dynamics to simulate this?  I don't have the dynamic installed however is there a way I can get ahold of a test version so I can test this?

Illustrator :: Moving Individual Anchor Points And Not Whole Path

Oct 25, 2011

I'm used to working with the pen tool in Adobe Photoshop, so Illustrator is just different enough to be problematic, since my automatic keyboard shortcut uses don't quite work. My biggest problem when drawing paths in Illustrator is that I can't figure out how to move individual anchor points without moving the entire connected path. I'm not using the direct selection right, or I don't have the rest of the path deselected properly, or something? How to move only individual anchor points in a path. (I am very tired of trying to move anchor points and ending up scooting the entire path along with it.)

General Information:
Windows Vista (relevant only for keyboard shortcuts, I suppose)
Illustrator CS2

Illustrator :: Moving Pattern Starting Point On A Path

Jan 29, 2014

I have had this problem since I started using patterns. Basically when I put a pattern on a path I want to then move it along that path so it starts where I want it to start, not neccessarily on the path's starting point.

There is an image of how it looks like

I created a simple pattern to show my issue. For example I want to move this pattern along this circle so it looks like this (triangle points up)

As you can see I rotated the whole circle to get the right outcome I need, but if it was just a regular path I would not be able to fix it this way.

Is there a way to do that? Something like moving text along a path.

I am using Illustrator CC.

Illustrator :: Unable To Create Outlines With Type On Path

Sep 8, 2012

I'm using Illustrator CS4. I am unable to Create Outlines for a font after I had used the type on the Path Tool. I had used the ellipse tool to create a closed circular path, then I selected the Type on a Path tool. I selected my text using the arrow tool and ctrl-shift-o (Create outlines) and then I receive the message: "Can't Create type outlines." Not quite sure why this is happening. Did I miss something? The thing is this - my type is in the position and alignment that I want and I don't necessarily want to work with the Type as a Font but as vector shapes.

Illustrator :: Cursor Automatically Changes To Type On Path Tool?

Mar 27, 2013

Is there a way to disable this function?

I regularly have to edit text within a grid of lines in illustrator. I can replace/edit text zoomed out, but when I try the cursor automatically changes to the type on a path tool. I then have to zoom in, edit text, zoom back out thousands of times a day. It would save me a bunch of time if I could set the type tool to ignore paths and only select text.

I could take the grid of lines on the files I'm working on and send them to back and lock them, but I am dealing with tens of thousands of files, and it's just not practical.

Any way to get rid of type on a path, or at least prevent Illustrator from automatically switching to that tool when I hover the type tool over a path?

GIMP :: Moving Selected Area Versus Moving Selection / Moving Whole Image

Mar 22, 2012

I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.

If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.

The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.

How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
