Illustrator :: Created Text On Curved Path Using Pen Tool And Type On Path Tool
Feb 13, 2014I created text on a curved path using the pen tool and the the type on a path tool. However, there are portions of the text that I want to taper. For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

1. Why did the text not stay on the path as I transformed it?
2. How do you hide the path so you do not have to see it? I want it there only as a guide for my text to flow across.

Dec 19, 2012I'm new here but for from new to PSP. I've used PSP8 for years and now are using PSP X1. I got PSP 4 but I'm not a fan at all. Anyway I've got a new PC running Win7 64 bit pro. The thing is PSP has decided it want use Adobe open style fonts. The True Type are fine. The open style do show in the fonts list and when used they do create a new vector layer and show the writing in the layers column. The thing is they don't show on the image. They used to work fine before but not now.

Dec 11, 2008Since applying the latest Microsoft updates to XP/SP3 last week I can now no longer add Open Type 1 or Type 1 fonts to Fonts in Windows, and therefore can't add more fonts for use in Photoshop CS3. I tried a new hard drive, reloaded with XP/SP3 plus updates and the exact same thing occurs. Any of those types of fonts I try to add come up as corrupt/can't load, when in fact they are not corrupt and the exact same font files load with no problem in another XP/SP3 machine that hasn't had the updates applied, and they also load without a hitch in a Vista machine. Anyone else, who has all the updates installed noticing this? Anyone have a solution? I know that this isn't exactly 100% related to Photoshop only, but it does affect the program.

May 26, 2007I have the Adobe Font Folio (Open Type) but I don't know where to start. I do a lot of small ads and so I use a lot of small type.
Does anyone know which fonts in this pack are good for small type? Maybe something thick that will look better at a smaller font size.
I've tried going through the fonts by highlighting the font name in the box and using the arrow keys to rifle through them, but as you know, it highlights what's on the page, making it near to impossible to see how the font would actually look if it weren't highlighted.

I regularly have to edit text within a grid of lines in illustrator. I can replace/edit text zoomed out, but when I try the cursor automatically changes to the type on a path tool. I then have to zoom in, edit text, zoom back out thousands of times a day. It would save me a bunch of time if I could set the type tool to ignore paths and only select text.
I could take the grid of lines on the files I'm working on and send them to back and lock them, but I am dealing with tens of thousands of files, and it's just not practical.
Any way to get rid of type on a path, or at least prevent Illustrator from automatically switching to that tool when I hover the type tool over a path?

Sep 25, 2012issues using True Type Fonts when printing some text through CorelDraw x6. Basically I do screen printing, and I have issues printing TTF's... The text when it prints out chops letters/adds spacing where its not needed, and towards the end of the sheet of vellum - starts to print the first letter of word on the left over again...
I haven't had issues printing off of my HP printer, but that broke so I invested in a BROTHER HL-2230 monochrome laser printer.

Oct 5, 2013When I use Tamil fonts in Photoshop, the letters are correctly getting displayed in layers palette in tthe corresponding text layes, but the same in document not getting displayed properly, the letters are misplaced. Same with Illustrator also. Donno wats the issue.

Nov 12, 2012Ever since I've installed CS6 my Text tool has not been working properly AT ALL. a Number of problems
1. I cant resize using the 00.pt at all. If I switch from 72 to 48 (or any other number) it will stay the same
2. manually rezising also causes issues, I don't get a full preview of the text even after sized. its cut off at 50%-75% height
3. the bounding box doesn't even go outside the entire object. its usually about 20% of the height
4. it often needs to "load" I've NEVER seen this before.
Its also since caused problems to CS5.
Photoshop :: Text Changes When Clicking On It With Type Tool Before Editing
Aug 15, 2012I have one large file and think it didn't save correctly or something. I've tried quitting and relaunching Photoshop but that doesn't work. Editing text in other Photoshop files works normally.
As soon as I click on any text with the type tool as though I'm going edit or style the text, the text instantly changes. Both the content and styling of the text is replaced as soon as the cursor is placed anywhere in the string of characters.
The really weird thing is the updated text matches text that appears somewhere else on the page. If I click the other text that it now matches that will also get automatically replaced by some other text on the page. And it goes on and on. It's impossible to edit or style any text unless I create new text.
I think the file has miss-arranged references to elements which only becomes apparent as I'm trying to edit.
Photoshop :: Type/Text Tool - Soft Hyphens
Nov 21, 2008I am dealing with text in some non-unicode encodings. The text includes the soft-hyphen character (0xAD) - which under ISO 8559-1 encoding is rendered as a hyphen.
When I paste this text into photoshop, the soft-hyphen disappears. The soft-hyphen is still there (if I copy the text and paste it back into notepad it is visible, also it shows up in the text layer's name) but it is not being rendered.
Now in Photoshop 7 the soft-hyphen renders as expected so I believe this is something caused by Photoshop's transition to Unicode in later versions (I see this 'problem' in Photoshop CS3 and CS4 - don't have CS or CS2 to test).
* Is it possible to change the type tool's behavior to the older version - i.e. to show soft-hyphen?
* Would anyone know if CS/CS2 behave like this as well?
I need soft-hyphen to be rendered because I am working with an old/legacy font which 'renders' soft-hyphen as a different glyph.
Illustrator :: Create Single Path To Type On Not Compound Path From Many Paths?
May 11, 2012I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.

That's as far as I can go. How do I make the text stick there? How do I complete this process. I know the solution is simple but I can't figure it out and I don't see it in the GIMP manual.

I tried using my type tool yesterday, and couldn't see anything when I typed. (White background, black text, Arial, 14 pt, 100%). I've tried clearing type presets. I finally tried blowing it up to 500% and saw a small, gray font-like image where I was typing.
I held down Ctrl and played with the transform box: if I expanded the box, my text is there. I've tried clicking on everything at the top when in transform. How to get my type tool entering text in the regular way.

Mar 19, 2013I use the path tool to create the shape of the text line I want to curve. I enter the text I want with the font, colour, etc, and select text along path. The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. I can change the font / colour of the original text which works great, but the text along the path doesn't seem to change.
