View 5 RepliesSince applying the latest Microsoft updates to XP/SP3 last week I can now no longer add Open Type 1 or Type 1 fonts to Fonts in Windows, and therefore can't add more fonts for use in Photoshop CS3. I tried a new hard drive, reloaded with XP/SP3 plus updates and the exact same thing occurs. Any of those types of fonts I try to add come up as corrupt/can't load, when in fact they are not corrupt and the exact same font files load with no problem in another XP/SP3 machine that hasn't had the updates applied, and they also load without a hitch in a Vista machine. Anyone else, who has all the updates installed noticing this? Anyone have a solution? I know that this isn't exactly 100% related to Photoshop only, but it does affect the program.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Adobe Font Folio (Open Type) but I don't know where to start. I do a lot of small ads and so I use a lot of small type.
Does anyone know which fonts in this pack are good for small type? Maybe something thick that will look better at a smaller font size.
I've tried going through the fonts by highlighting the font name in the box and using the arrow keys to rifle through them, but as you know, it highlights what's on the page, making it near to impossible to see how the font would actually look if it weren't highlighted.
I've noticed that I can download open type fonts on my computer (OS Windows 7) but if I type them out in my Corel X3, nothing shows up. Even files that I open up in Corel that have open type fonts in them, no text shows.

Anyway I've got a new PC running Win7 64 bit pro. The thing is PSP has decided it want use Adobe open style fonts. The True Type are fine. The open style do show in the fonts list and when used they do create a new vector layer and show the writing in the layers column. The thing is they don't show on the image. They used to work fine before but not now.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the Adobe Font Package but I'm having trouble finding what I need for my banner ads. Because I'm working in small type, I need thick fonts that look good in small, 12-16pt type.
I've found that Myriad Pro Bold is a good one for this but I'm looking for others that will give a nice, professional look to my banner ads as well.
how to get this problem resolved. everytime i use my type, when i click on my work area, a black dot appears on page before i begin to type. then no matter what font i use, there is a black line under all my type. how can i get just the black dot from appearing at first when i click, and that annoying line under all my type to dissappear! i'm veryy new to photoshop, and i have cs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow to 'install' Type One fonts under Windows, especially when I want to use them with FontNav. Should the pairs be kept together within the same folder? I tend to use multiple sets of folders for other font types to aid me in organizing them within FontNav, and I love FontNav for its ability to make fonts active or inactive.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have custome line type with texts (ex : ---HW-- ) . In my definition, I have a specific text styles "LINETYPES" linked to it.
*HOT_WATER_SUPPLY,Hot water supply ---- HW ---- HW ---- HW ----
A,.5,-.2,["HW",LINETYPES,S=.1,R=0.0,X=-0.1,Y=-.05],-.2
I draw, and after, I would like to know, how to change the fonts in my custom line types (for example --HW--) from ARIAL to TAHOMA. If I change my Text syles and reload mu custom linetype it doesn't change the text fonts.
Suddenly my normal crisp type is all ragged. Don't know how to fix this- tried restarting, no luck. All of my files have this problem now.
View 5 Replies View Relatedissues using True Type Fonts when printing some text through CorelDraw x6. Basically I do screen printing, and I have issues printing TTF's... The text when it prints out chops letters/adds spacing where its not needed, and towards the end of the sheet of vellum - starts to print the first letter of word on the left over again...
I haven't had issues printing off of my HP printer, but that broke so I invested in a BROTHER HL-2230 monochrome laser printer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to set characters to "tabular lining" in open type or other way in Photoshop? I commonly control my numeral characters in Illustrator with the Open Type palette, setting numerals to "tabular lining" so they will align vertically with each other, versus the default oldstyle numerals that come with many fonts.
Here is visual example : First row being "tabular lining" :
As you see, this is available in Illustrator, as shown :
But I'm not seeing this in Photoshop. I'm working with the typeface Adobe Calson Pro, in small caps... but the numbers look awkward.
Whenever I try to open a file in Photoshop CS 5 extended it says it is not the right kind of document. I've checked the file extensions which are correct. The files themselves are not corrupt as I can open them in other programs..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am putting together a large project and have to import files made by other designers, particularly pdf files that are being created in AI CS3 and CS4. Without fail if I choose import 'text' the font substitution dialog comes up even though in Adobe Reader it shows the fonts as 'embedded'.
If I choose import as curves the fonts come in changed anyway. What is going on? I keep having to go back to the other designers and ask for tiff files. Guess what they say, "Why are you using CorelDraw?"
I didn't have this much trouble with X3 importing pdf with the fonts converted to curves, is it because Adobe Illustrator has changed something? I have read that compression has something to do with it but I read a post here somewhere that said that X5 dealt with that compression issue. Why isn't mine working or is it the nature of the beast? Is there a work around other than purchasing expensive Adobe software?
I want to create an action that only opens one particular file type, performs some changes to it, then finds all the others of that file type. I can do everything else and use the Image Processor to run it, but I can't find any way to tell the action to only open .GIF files and ignore everything else.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat I mean by "Holy Grail" is that intense outer glow of crosses in religious illustrations but that looks natural in photographs. I am looking for technique, filter or third party plug in.
I have product photos to create this type of outer glow but I also want it to look natural.
I am looking for a fast, easy and adjustable way to do this -- if at all possible.
I'm interested in creating some variations in font sets or new font sets altogether. My fading recollection is that some of the earlier versions of DRAW may have had that option as a utility. I know that we had it here at some point, although it could possibly have been in the PageMaker package..
