I want to create an action that only opens one particular file type, performs some changes to it, then finds all the others of that file type. I can do everything else and use the Image Processor to run it, but I can't find any way to tell the action to only open .GIF files and ignore everything else.

I want to create an �Action� that changes the File type from .psd to .jpg, and then use the �Batch� command to change a whole folder on files.
Here�s what happens so far: I open a file. Then using the �action� pallet, I record the following:
Save as�
I change the �Save In� folder to a different folder.
I change the �Format� from Photoshop (PSD) to JPEG (JPG).
Under JPEG Options, I use the default file size and hit OK.
I them hit the Stop button.
Seems simple enough. And it works for the first file.
But if I use this �action� on a second file, it writes over the original file.
So, how do I create an �action� that allows me to automate the �save as� function and change file types.
This must be a common operation. I have 300+ .psd files that I need to change to .jpg.
I want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.

They also mentioned something about "shrink wrapping" the file to all the surfaces.
I have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.

I cannot right click on it, I have tried searching for it in my computer to delete the file, it doesn't exist anywhere. How can I keep this strange file from opening upon start up and get rid of it once and for all?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me nuts. When I save a photoshop file as a .png at 300 ppi, when I open it it is 299.999 ppi.
I wouldn't mind for my personal use, but these are digital files I sell. Believe me, I will get emails about it.
Even when I open the .png file and change the ppi to 300, if I open it again it's once again 299.999!
I am saving files with a transparent background with compression no interlacing. I'm using save as, not save for web.
Here's the interesting thing.
1. This started happening when I got my new iMac with Lion and installed CS6. Did both at the same time.
2. My assistant, this happens with my assistant who is on PC with Photoshop CS5.
I opened a raw file from a CD in photoshop cs4, lets call it photo1.nef. 2) I saved the file with a different name on my HARD DRIVE after making changes, photo1b.tif. I did not in any shape or form save the file on the CD (can't anyways). 3) Now, whenever I open the original file, photo1.nef on the CD it opens with all the changes I made previously to the file saved as photo1b.tif (remember this is the original unchanged file not the file I changed). But, when looking at thumbnails it appears to be the unchanged version of the file. I have closed photoshop and deleted all my temp files and still it opens the file with the changes, even though other programs open the file in it's original state without any of my changes.

Photoshop is all up-to-date and I am seeing this on Mac OS versions: OS X 10.6.8 but not on Mac OS X 10.8.2.
I am attempting to have photoshop open a 16bit grayscale ramp that I generated in matlab, but a problem is occuring with mach banding still occuring eventhough photoshop is setup to be working in 10bit images right now. Are there other settings that I need to change inorder to fix this problem. (also I am using a 10bit monitor which is why I am working in the higher bits).
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy CS3 Extended (ENG ver. ) stopped open any file (new, photos, files any format...).
The CS3 shows error when I try to open any file. After that windows XP closes the application Sometimes CS3 opens small .jpg but very, very slow (1MB last about 3 min).
Yesterday I did reinstalation but without results.
The preview of the picture still appears when I select it in Photoshop, and even appears for a few seconds in Adobe Bridge before going back to black. But nothing I tried, from restore plug ins to online retrieve systems (that tried to bring back individual layers, only accounting to a single black layer and a bunch of blank ones) worked. I'd really like to get the picture back, or at least a png of it, but I'm at loss for what to try next. I use Cs5.1 64 bits.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI double-click on a image file associated with Photoshop, or use "Open With" to select Photoshop, the Photoshop program starts but the file does not open. Also, when Photoshop opens I get a window that says, "One or more files in the Adobe Photoshop Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."
I cannot re-install, so I need to find what file is missing and copy it from my other Mac.
I have a photoshop file with several layers...about 100. I want to put each layers into it's own group. The name of the group must be the same as the name of the layer.
I tried creating an action to do this but it did not work right. It only works for one layer selected individually. If I select multiple layers, then it forms nested groups. How do I create this action? I am using adobe photoshop cs6 ( I think) , windows 7.
Decided to download the trial version of CS6 and create some actions for myself. What I need to create is a 3d canvas wrap image as seen in the pic.I need to be able to control the following.
1, The size of the canvas
2, The depth of the frame
3, To have the image mirrored on the sides of the frame.
4, Shadow effect
I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.
I am new to creating actions, I have crated a design I am happy with and I want to recreate it easily with an action. The design uses multiple stages and filters, so its a real pain to retrace steps. Is there a quick way to create an action set without having to go through all steps again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 200 tiffs in one folder (each tiff is named 'image 1-200') all without an alpha channel.
I have 200 different tiffs in another folder (named 'luma matte 1-200').
I've have copied the first images of the 'luma matte 1.tiff' (a black and white image) and pasted it into a newly created alpha layer in 'the image 1.tiff' channel window.
I save this out as a new tiff called 'composite 1' and it works in the way I require it to work.
How would I automate this process rather than having to do it individually for all the 200 files. I'm not sure if this can be done with a series of actions/batch? I dont want to use After Effects luma key as this isn't giving me the correct results.
I'm trying to simplify the creation of several preview thumbs from one image. For example, my base image is a 400x600px image, and from this image I need to create the following thumbs:
1: 90x120px
2: 120x90px
3: 100x100px
4: ...
(Please look at the image i attached)
I need an Action that would Crop the base image and save a copy of each of these thumbs. I can't fugure out how to do this since I need to adjust the Marquee selection for each thumb to Crop the part of the base image I want.
Last week I finished my artwork and saved as usual as an .ai file. I checked it again a few days ago, made a few amendments, and it was fine. Today I tried to open it but a box I have never seen before seems to think my document is a pdf and I get the option to open either 'image' or 'pages'. I open pages and the artwork does not look such great resolution as it did previously.
I tried to open it in Photoshop not AI.
I want to create an action to apply to several images. This had to be the result. But I want to use the action for a portrait or landscape image or 72 or 300 dpi picture.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyway, my quest is to create an action in CS3 that will position and size text (eg. center) as a watermark in any size image. Currently I am creating a copyright symbol, then a text layer and then another text layer and either grouping them in the action or merging them down as created to be in one layer. This works fine as long as I run the action on another file of the same size but when it comes across a different size file the components are all over the place and differently sized.
I gotta admit I don't know a lot about text though. Just thought someone may be able to help me with this one so thanks to all who contribute.

I'm having problems creating and recording a suitable photoshop action that would work for any picture dimension and that won't resize the top rounded corners.
I have a logo consisting of four (4) text elements (see attachment) that I would like to be able to create through an action. The problem I'm having is that the document is not always the same size and PS sees percentages for text placement. I need to have the text placed in relation to each other regardless of the documents size.

For ex, I have a series of steps, then need to save the image to 2 different sizes/resolutions, with a different name. So I want the action to run, stop where I type in the name for the hi-res, continue, then stop where I type in the name for the lo-res, then finish the steps desired.
