I am attempting to have photoshop open a 16bit grayscale ramp that I generated in matlab, but a problem is occuring with mach banding still occuring eventhough photoshop is setup to be working in 10bit images right now. Are there other settings that I need to change inorder to fix this problem. (also I am using a 10bit monitor which is why I am working in the higher bits).

Here's my challenge. I've got this image, as you can see it is solid white, and solid black only. This is going in some kind of program that needs it to be 200 PPI AND only12Kb or less AND if has to be a tif.
My dad works there and he sent me a file that is 10.8 Kb, PPI, and is 7.9" x 3.5", and it was (Bitmap)
So I changed the information and when I save it, the smallest I can get it to be is ~20Kb.

What I've tried so far:
Save for web as PNG with 2 colors, reopen it, and save that as .tif.
Change it to Grayscale, then save it with JPEG
Bitmap and Compressed with LZW
Bitmap and Compressed with ZIP
Bitmap and Compressed with NONE
I even tried saving it as .25"x.125" but the file size stayed about the same.

Should I be using another program or is there a way to do this in Photoshop?
In Lightroom 4.2 when open and I want to edit in PSE 10, I go to Photo, edit in PSE 10, and PSE 10 opens, but there is no image. I want to edit in PSE 10 and can't. Using LR 4.2, and attempting to edit in PSE 10, PSE 10 opens but no image opens to edit

Within the file there are 1836 layers, I am trying to reduce that number greatly. There are also lots and lots of blocks. I have heard that it is possible to make all of the objects on one layer and also compress layers.

I didnt save the origional NEF, because i didnt want to not have the origional .NEF i took. It also saved a .XMP of the file. Ok, so saving goes fine, but when I open it again... it asks me about size, and some other things... I have no idea why its asking these things... I put in some numbers close to the picture size... and it opens grayscale, and totally distorted....most of them are just many lines...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.

Even when I open the .png file and change the ppi to 300, if I open it again it's once again 299.999!
I am saving files with a transparent background with compression no interlacing. I'm using save as, not save for web.

Here's the interesting thing.

1. This started happening when I got my new iMac with Lion and installed CS6. Did both at the same time.
2. My assistant, this happens with my assistant who is on PC with Photoshop CS5.
I opened a raw file from a CD in photoshop cs4, lets call it photo1.nef. 2) I saved the file with a different name on my HARD DRIVE after making changes, photo1b.tif. I did not in any shape or form save the file on the CD (can't anyways). 3) Now, whenever I open the original file, photo1.nef on the CD it opens with all the changes I made previously to the file saved as photo1b.tif (remember this is the original unchanged file not the file I changed). But, when looking at thumbnails it appears to be the unchanged version of the file. I have closed photoshop and deleted all my temp files and still it opens the file with the changes, even though other programs open the file in it's original state without any of my changes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open one particular image in photoshop CS3 the thumb in the Open menu looks correct, but the image opens with a reddish tinge over the whole thing. If I then double-click the image layer in the Layers window, the Layer Style menu pops up, the tinge removes itself and the image looks as it should. None of the other images I've been working on have this happening. Does anyone know what's up here. This is a .psd file with no layers above the image layer.

Photoshop is all up-to-date and I am seeing this on Mac OS versions: OS X 10.6.8 but not on Mac OS X 10.8.2.
my CS3 Extended (ENG ver. ) stopped open any file (new, photos, files any format...).
The CS3 shows error when I try to open any file. After that windows XP closes the application Sometimes CS3 opens small .jpg but very, very slow (1MB last about 3 min).
Yesterday I did reinstalation but without results.

It happens to be the catalog in which I have done the most image manipulations such as renaming, stacking, albums, rating, etc. Now, when I select a photo in Organizer and click on Fix, Edit, the Editor window comes up but the photo does not appear in Editor. The only way I can get an image into Editor is to pull it directly into Editor. Then, when I want to save it as a Version Set I have to choose File> Organize Open File in order to save the image as a version set. Other than deleting and re-creating the catalog, how can I get Editor to open the image from Organizer like it used to do?

If I open Images with "Edit in Photoshop" that DO NOT HAVE Adjustments, the image will open up in Photoshop correctly. I just came from Windows to Mac.
Whenever I create or open an image in PS it looks great. It's clear and great quality. If I save it as a .jpg, it still looks great. But when I save it as a .gif the image loses a lot of quailty. I have my Indexed Color set to the following:
Palette : Local(Selective)
Colors : 265
Forced : Black and White
Dither : Diffusion
Amount : 75%
Usually I have the palette set on exact so the .gif looks identical to the .psd But in some cases it won't let me save it as exact but in some cases it will.
The preview of the picture still appears when I select it in Photoshop, and even appears for a few seconds in Adobe Bridge before going back to black. But nothing I tried, from restore plug ins to online retrieve systems (that tried to bring back individual layers, only accounting to a single black layer and a bunch of blank ones) worked. I'd really like to get the picture back, or at least a png of it, but I'm at loss for what to try next. I use Cs5.1 64 bits.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI double-click on a image file associated with Photoshop, or use "Open With" to select Photoshop, the Photoshop program starts but the file does not open. Also, when Photoshop opens I get a window that says, "One or more files in the Adobe Photoshop Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."
I cannot re-install, so I need to find what file is missing and copy it from my other Mac.
Ok, i've setup an action to compress an image as a jpeg at 60% or whatever. I'm using this action in a batch of random images I've downloaded from misc sites.
Is there anyway I can have photoshop only compress the image to 60% only if the filesize will be smaller than the original? If this isn't possible with photoshop, are they any alternative apps that do what I'm looking for?
I am running Photoshop Elements 7.0. I am unable to 'Save for Web' Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S to compress my file to 40 KB.

Today I tried to open it but a box I have never seen before seems to think my document is a pdf and I get the option to open either 'image' or 'pages'. I open pages and the artwork does not look such great resolution as it did previously.Â
