Photoshop :: CS5 Extended Error - Can't Open Files - Not The Right Type Of Document
Jan 8, 2013
Whenever I try to open a file in Photoshop CS 5 extended it says it is not the right kind of document. I've checked the file extensions which are correct. The files themselves are not corrupt as I can open them in other programs..
Just recently started getting the follwing error when opening any file up in Photoshop CS6 Extended. Running Windos 8, 64bit with 16GB of RAM and plenty of free disk space.
"Some of the type layers in this document were rasterized becasue an error prevented them from being read"
I try to open mulitple ai files through palette dialog but it fails on Error:8702, there is no document. But if i change to var win = new Window ("dialog", "Batch"); the open file works well.
var txtSourceFolder = win.add("edittext",undefined); var btnOk = win.add("button",undefined,"Run"); btnOk.onClick=function(){ try
I am taking a CS6 Photoshop class, I downloaded the data files from [URL] my task in the book is to click File on the Menu bar, then click Open, then navigate to the drive and folder where you store you Data Files. When I click the corresponding file (PS 1-1.psd), I get the following error message: Cannot complete your request because it's not the right type of document.
When I launch Photoshop CC the following error appears: Some of the type layers in this document were rasterized because an error prevented them from being read. Also when I click the text tool, a similar message appears, I am unable to create text. I am using a PC running Windows 8,
I'm trying to open .3DS files in Photoshop CS6 extended, but it is giving me the error message: "could not complete your request because 3d functionality is currently disabled due OpenGL being disabled". At first it opened a few files and worked fine, then it just stopped opening them and now only displays the error message.
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1.2 20130522.r.24 2013/05/22:21:00:00) x64 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1 System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:10, Stepping:7 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, HyperThreading [code]...
I Have Photoshop CS6 Extended (on Windows 7 - 64bit).
But it does not open my .psd files, only if I run Photoshop CS6 and go File > Open > "and then open the file", it will open, but If I go to the file it self it does not recognize CS6 as the default program or to open it. It tells me it cannot find a program to open the .psd file with. I have tried several times to set the Default Program but it is not even there and if I click on "browse" to find Photoshop and click "open" it does not open or show Photoshop in the Default Programs.
Now I accidently clicked on coreldraw and I don't want my .psd files opening with coreldraw! because I hardly use coreldraw, I only needed it for my studies. When I had CS5 it worked and opened fine, with CS6 the .psd files just don't find Photoshop.how can I fix this so that my .psd files get recognized?
Is there any way to force Xara to open an empty document and no other files? On load, my DP7 attempts to open a prior document that involves a complex Photoshop filter render. DP7 is hanging up here, the status bar reading, "Please wait: rendering Live Effects..." I could always reinstall if it comes to that, but if there's an easier workaround,
i can't open any file type except .png files.i think cause is from libjpeg and when i compile gimp didn't install and i has to compile with --disable-jpeglib or like this switch.
When I try to open files - ANY files - I get an error message that AI doesn't recognize the file type. I tried importing files and received the same message. I then went back and attempted to open files that I had created with AI. NO FILES will open. I tried re-installing the program, still no dice.
I uploaded some photos from my phone onto my laptop. These seem to have disappeared altogether. They are no longer on my phone, they are not in any of the folders on my laptop (I have checked several times) and they are not in my laptop recycling bin either. Since this happened, I have notcied the appearance of many LRPREV files on my laptop, which I cannot open and I have not seen before. Putting 2 and 2 together, I am inclined to believe that the lost uploaded photos from my phone are the LRPREV files, and that they were somehow, unintentionally converted.
What are LRPREV files, and how do I open them? Alternatively, is there a way to convert them into a file type which I can open? where my uploaded photos may be?
everytime I open a new PS Extended document using CS6 on a Mac with op system 10.8.2 an old document opens. I can delete it in the tabs at the top but I would really like to open a fresh document without this step. I have removed the preferences file and rebooted PS Extended, and I have booted using the three finger option cmd shift but all to no avail as the new document open with the old file in the tabs area.
Since upgrading to Mavericks anytime i try to open files by going to file, open it says "Could not complete your request because of a program error".. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and also tried using the cleanup tool but still getting that error. I am using an iMac 27".. Also tried resetting preferences, still no luck.
Im having problems with the adobe creative cloud. When I try to open files in photoshop I get this "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
"extrusion file is bad or corrupted" error when a file is chosen, photoshop then "stops working" and windows shuts it down. I then have to restart to make another attempt.
When I type in Photoshop CS6 Extended the period is going before the word instead of after for example "I went to the .farm" I did not have this problem before, just the last couple of weeks.
I want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
We just started getting more into banner and sign printing. I have since learned that InDesign has a max size limit of 216 inches. I prefer Indesign over Illustrator but I tried with that also and that gives me a limit of 227 inches. I need to go bigger than this and it will probably be a regular problem. Is there a way to trick ID or AI to go larger?
When I try open a saved CAD LT 2013 file I get an Error message saying 'FATAL ERROR: Out of memory'..The file had crashed while I was working on it and the automated recover files won't open, says: 'drawing file invalid'
I can open other files. What does this mean and can the file be recovered?

All updates to Photoshop were installed last time I ran it with no problems. No new hardware has been installed since.Installed Classic Shell since last use, so I uninstalled it but the error persists.Installed Diet Tracker but they don't interfere with each on on the system at home so I know there's no problem there.Nothing else installed except Windows updates.I tried restoring back to the last time I used it still got the error, so undid the restore.I tried repairing Photoshop .no change.I uninstalled Photoshop, rebooted, installed Photoshop. it loaded slower then and the last thing I saw load was plugins then something about Python and then the error again. When I try to open the program, it goes so fast that I can't see what's loaded and where it stops now.

I bought a legit copy o photoshopAlbeit I bouhgt it from ebay, but it is definitely legit - not pirated , but a mfr sealed professionally produced copy of CS3 extendedI popped it open and found what I expected the documentation the DVD case with the training video and the serial number on the back. I installed CS3 extended and plugged in my serial number and was greeted with a shiny green check mark (please note this is not just some generic photoshop liscence it is recognized by the software itself). Then I began the activation nightmare that I am currently having. I clicked activateActivate nowThen I got an error telling me to pease try activating by calling customer care.I did that I went through the automated system with m serial numberand activation key and then it said it was unable to process so I retried. Still no luck, then I got a live person on the phone. Here is what they told me:You do not have a valid serial number...Odd, I thought, since your software recognized it as a valid liscence. I tried it in several other photoshop programs only to be greeted by a red x (liscence invalid) so the serial number I have is legit for photoshop CS3 extended, it just won't activate. I tried to tell them that. I asked them what proof they needed from me barcode copy of serial number scan of packaging anything. They told me I needed the reciept from an authorized reseller. I'm afraid I didn't see in the liscence agreement where the agreement between provider and end user was limited by their distributorship. Thank you to me too for buyinga legitimate copy and not going with a free alternative (paint.net as been fine in the past thank you).So I continued the discussion until I finally asked for a supervisor who was slightly more willing to talk about a way we could resolve the activation problem. I am stuck getting the original reciept from the seller to prove to Adobe that their product was in fact original purchased from them. You have to be kidding???!!!?!?!It is unactivated so we aren't even talking about a liscence transfer this product is supposed to be registered to me. And that still doesn't answer the question of how the serial number is recognized by the software and installation (meaning the serial to DVD matches) and the customer service people claim it is not valid. I even asked them to tell me if it was a liscence used as a known pirated copy or something that should invalidate it, but all they can tell me is that it is not valid for the product. If that is the case why print it on the label and affix it to the software? On the other hand perhaps it is just a database error on their part. What if I bought it from london drugs and lost the reciept how woul they handle that.
