View 3 RepliesI want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Â
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Â
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
When creating a work path on a new layer, the path is a grayish black color is there a way to create that path to be a different color, yellow for instance? Using CS6, I don't see it in preferences anywhere

View 2 Replies View RelatedI created text on a curved path using the pen tool and the the type on a path tool. However, there are portions of the text that I want to taper. For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas any body else noticed that if you create a work path, then create a shape layer (say a rectangle) and type some text on the rectangle (text on a path) that if you commit the type and switch to the Path Selection Tool to edit the path text (position of the starting or end points) photoshop cs6 replaces your previous workpath with a workpath of the shape layer you typed on?
Â
Is photoshop cs6 supposed to work that way?

Windows 8 x64 and photoshop 13.01 new document a create a workpath create a rectangle shape layer and type on the rectangle shape layer path. The orginal workpath has been replaced by the rectangle shape layer path
I created a path with the type tool, selected the path in the Paths panel, I started typing on the path and the type followed the path, though I chose edit > free transform path and scaled it, though the text did not move with the new path and now it is no longer on the path?
1. Why did the text not stay on the path as I transformed it?
2. How do you hide the path so you do not have to see it? I want it there only as a guide for my text to flow across.
I have a sort of ring doughnut shape (just to be clear, a circle with the center cut out) and want to add text within this shape. To make the shape, I created a larger circle, then a smaller circle overlapping it and chose "Exclude Overlapping Shapes".Â
I can obviously click within the larger circle and then type along this path, either outside or inside depending on the baseline shift %, but the trouble is my text is multiple lines. When I press 'enter' I don't get a new line, I just lose the typing tool. Surely there's a way to do this? I'm using Photoshop CS6.
New to 3ds Max. Watched the movie on constraining to a path but it never showed how to create the path. What's the easiest method?

I want to create an “Action” that changes the File type from .psd to .jpg, and then use the “Batch” command to change a whole folder on files.
Here’s what happens so far: I open a file. Then using the “action” pallet, I record the following:
Save as…
I change the “Save In” folder to a different folder.
I change the “Format” from Photoshop (PSD) to JPEG (JPG).
Under JPEG Options, I use the default file size and hit OK.
I them hit the Stop button.
Seems simple enough. And it works for the first file.
But if I use this “action” on a second file, it writes over the original file.
So, how do I create an “action” that allows me to automate the “save as” function and change file types.
This must be a common operation. I have 300+ .psd files that I need to change to .jpg.
I'm working with a typeface that I need to stretch horizontally while following a circular shape. I don't want to distort it other than the horizontal stretching.
View 2 Replies View Related1.) The type "Mariners" sloping downward in an arc. I was able to get the Seattle part using type on a path on a circle and typing on top. Question is, can I also type Mariners on the bottom of that path? I recall that not being the case. Am I supposed to draw another circle over the one that Seattle is typed on and then on that one type on the bottom?
Â
2.) For the stitching, am I supposed to create one stitch and then create a brush, draw a curve and then apply the brush to that curve?
I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator CS4. I am unable to Create Outlines for a font after I had used the type on the Path Tool. I had used the ellipse tool to create a closed circular path, then I selected the Type on a Path tool. I selected my text using the arrow tool and ctrl-shift-o (Create outlines) and then I receive the message: "Can't Create type outlines." Not quite sure why this is happening. Did I miss something? The thing is this - my type is in the position and alignment that I want and I don't necessarily want to work with the Type as a Font but as vector shapes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to mask type with a vector pattern (place a vector pattern in a type clipping path), but nothing seems to be working. Never had issue before. Tried path in front, pattern in front, converting type path to compound path, converting vector to compound path. A couple of times it looked like it worked, but the pattern was invisible within the path. Illustrator CS6, on a Mac.

I regularly have to edit text within a grid of lines in illustrator. I can replace/edit text zoomed out, but when I try the cursor automatically changes to the type on a path tool. I then have to zoom in, edit text, zoom back out thousands of times a day. It would save me a bunch of time if I could set the type tool to ignore paths and only select text.
Â
I could take the grid of lines on the files I'm working on and send them to back and lock them, but I am dealing with tens of thousands of files, and it's just not practical.
Â
Any way to get rid of type on a path, or at least prevent Illustrator from automatically switching to that tool when I hover the type tool over a path?
I am creating a logo and I need to create text on a circle, but the hard part for me is she wants the first half on top, the 2nd part of the text on the bottom.
obviously i know how to use the circle path tool, but how is a good way to do this for the bottom? I know i can use the pen tool but i have never used it before and it looks complicated.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a new linetype. It is a simple linetype, made up of a continuous chain of capsules that I've attached here. I understand that linetypes require shape files and line definition files. However, AutoCAD isn't even telling me how to create the shape file(s) I need to begin making the linetype.
The capsule is .12 units long at its widest, and will need to connect end-to-end.
Now I am very limited in my use of Xara Xtreme but I am currently needing to create an image of a world globe and around it (maybe even spewing out of it) I would require like something that conveys technology.
