Photoshop :: CS5 Making New Image Square
Mar 5, 2013Every time I create a new document, no matter what dimensions I put, it always makes it a square. Just tonight it has. I've been using the program for almost a year now and haven't had this issue at all.
I don't think I messed with any settings or anything. I read somewhere that it might have to do with the Pixel Aspect Ratio or something, but I've been trying different things with that and it hasn't worked. I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion running Photoshop CS5.

Feb 14, 2014I made a logo using elements. I have tried numerous ways to make it transparent but when I put it on my pictures there is a white square box that appears with it. I want my whole logo to be transparent. I have saved it png, png 24. And still nothing works. How to get this box to disappear. Just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong I took a photo and made the background transparent and took the selection that was not and put it into a different photo and the white square edge was still around it.

Dec 7, 2011make a rusted metal square in Gimp. I managed to google to make a square selection and fill it with a color. Now I would really like to give it a effect like in this tutorial. I can sort of get it working, but my starting square is not good enough and I do not know much about colors. How do I make a good starting square with some gradient added to it (well I can make one in inkscape and export it, but how do I do it in Gimp), and most importantly, what colors would work well and how do I give the rust a rust-color.

Jul 5, 2013I have hand written initials. It looks to be something that was signed on copy paper and then the background was removed to get an alpha channel. These initials are a bit too thin to make an impact within the logo i am designing.

Mar 24, 2004How do you smooth lines? Like if I trace something and the lines are just a touch jagged, how do I get them to look perfect? I'm using PS7.
Also, how could I make concentric circles? Or even just a hollow circle? I can use the shape tool to make a circle, but that fills it - is there a way to make it with just a 2 or 3 pixel outline and hollow in the middle?

How do you get the lines an easy way? I was wracking my brain and I just couldnt figure it out. I tried doing clouds, and making the lightning type thing then using satin for some shading etc... But it doesnt look really lasery, and i had to reduce the size alot.

Aug 28, 2013I could edit an existing PDF made by another company, just change a few lines of text. The original file was around 3 mb. I add in a website, extension to the phone number, switch out the fax (That's it!) and save as a new version. It's now almost 30 mb. Why?? My work email won't let me send something of that size.. I tried saving as smallest file size w/ preserving editing and it came out to be 15+ mb.

In my file, I have thus far been unable to fair my splines with any kind of consistancy. Also, it should be possible to place a tangent constaint to a straight line at a point, yet I haven't been able to do that either. Aug 5, 2013I have text from dt command, circle and leader line. After selecting them I use the copy command and starte pasting all over my drawing. Probable about 6 copies. about 3 or 4 of them end up not being able to select them. So if i want to edit the text, move all three entities or just delete them i cant. I figured out the only way to delete these "unselectable" objects i copied is to only have that layer on, type selectall and delete. Why this happens and why if i did 6 pastes it only happens to 3 or 4 of them? does it have to do with feature lines? I do have 3d lines in this dwg but i should still be able to select what i copied.

Dec 28, 2012I was just going through the files for our main printed catalog, updating everything and turning individual pages into pdfs for the website, and once again ran into this anomaly. Often, photos with a white background would be processed for the pdf with a black kind of ragged edge line, appearing to be slightly offset from the actual cropping edge from DRAW. This has been an intermittent problem for as long as I can remember. I suspect Adobe is at fault, but what is the solution? I can re-crop the photo and regenerate a new pdf and sometimes that works, but not for a lot of these pics.

Sep 30, 2007I'm using CS3 with a new computer and a 17in crt monitor. I set the monitor resolution via windows to 1280x1024. Made a 4 in square in Photoshop. It's square. When I change the resolution to anything less than 1280x1024 the square is taller than wide. It still shows 4x4 inches with the rulers.
