My preferences are set up to display the layers transparency as grid size medium and grid colour light but when I use a layer the background is always solid black rather than the chequered design it is set up to be. I have tried altering the preferences, I have tried re-installing CS4 but nothing seems to make any difference.

Whenever i use this color it appears as black.
How do i get this fixed??? im clueless
EDIT: When i drag the window im working in around the colors appears as normal but as soon as i let the window go, the cyan turns black again.
I am using OS X 10.8.2, ATI Radeon 4670, CS6 Extended 13.0.1 When I select and place the red eye tool over the eye and click, the black dot appears on the lip or off to the right. Is there some setting I need to make? It has always worked correctly in the past.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased Web Premium CS4. Photoshop CS4 Extended was included with the package and I installed and ran it. Sadly any large document I tried to open appears black and sometimes when I zoom in partly displays with random black lines through it. I have checked my system's specs and they all match up with the requirements. I am running Vista SP1 on a Dell computer. I have read all the knowledge base articles relating to this matter and have done everything they said (including disabling OpenGL, etc.)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am editing some artwork in PS. I use quick keys to go between: b,e,g...(brush, erase, paintbucket). As I move through the image I zoom in and out with key strokes. I haven't figured out just what combination brings up a compass, but when it appears my canvas (not the image, but the whole canvas) kants to one side or another. If I see it in time I mess with it to get it back, but as I don't know what it is called I'm having a terrible time looking up how to control it and set it back to square. It seems like all the layers are okay within the image, so nothing is out of registration, but I don't know what is happening.
Any tool that is activated? Then I can figure out when to use it for real and how to undo it when I don't want it. I'm on a Mac Book Pro using Master Collection 6 and the touch pad. It seems like my finger motions might be triggering it. I have tried to step back, but it wasn't an option. Undo didn't do anything.
I couldn't use the crop tool: when I want to crop any area, the big black-colored area occurs and preventing me to see what I want to crop... Before, with my Photoshop, I didn't have a such trouble, I attached a print-screen and it explains more accurate.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with a file when I plot only. The black 'mask' appears only after plotting. It does not show up in print preview.
There are no frozen layers or switched off through viewports. When I open the viewport on a new paperspace page it follows me in. I can only assume there is an underlying mask in model space or paperspace.
I am creating a peice of artwork in illustrator. I have cut out the icecream image in photoshop and placed it in illustrator as a psd file. It looks fine in illustrator, looks like it should do. The problem occurs when I export to pdf, a black border around the ice cream image appears. However when I print the black border does not display. So the issue with the black border only appears on the pdf. Check out the attachment beow for example of what I mean.

One day, when I opened it up to do some work, there appeared a duplicate assembly model floating in the middle of my work space. The duplicate does not appear in the model browser and is completely Black. It dissapeared a few days later, but the next day, when I opened the file, it was there again.

NOTE: Image looks fine in Photoshop(CS6) but when placed in Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on page
This only happens when image is an RGB Tiff and layer mask is used to create transparency. If image is saved as .psd then it is fine. Also when RGB tiff is converted to CMYK then this is also ok.
Ideally I could just start using psd format, but I have to handle a lot of images that are already in RGB tiff and it is time consuming to have to open and re-save all of these.
Photoshop CS5 RGB tiffs are still working fine.
How can I set transparency like when color is brighter it will be more transparent, eg. white is fully transparent, black is non-transparent, gray is 50% transparent, etc..
I would save png after that.
I have created Table styles for Structures in Autocad 2009 Civil 3D, but now I have Autocad Civil 3D 2011 and the Table Style Fill appears black in paper space.

Printing a black and white layout to my HP LaserJet 4000 produces an image that appears to be grayscale instead of solid black. In other words, my text, line border I've put around the layout and graphics (for the most part), all appear about 70-80% black instead of SOLID black. Small text doesn't appear to be nearly as sharp because it looks like a halftone instead solid black. On one layout I just printed, the entire thing appears halftoned except for one vector graphic that did print in solid black. Strange. I figured I have something set incorrectly in the software or printer. Has to be the CDR X6 software though because all other programs output just fine.

When I try to move a layer selected in the layer panel (or selected via ctrl-alt-right click), a click on the layer selects the layer effect above instead.It seems like there is some kind of click through enabled. If I click on a transparent part of the layer, the layer below get selected instead.
My first thought was that this had something to do with "Auto-select layer/group", but it's disabled. how can I go back to normal mode, so I can click anywhere in a layer, transparent or not, and move the items in it etc?(I'm using Photoshop CS6.)
I just installed Photoshop 7 a few minutes ago, for the sole purpose of learning how to combine images with each other, I don`t know what name is used to describe this technique but let me try to explain. I have a total of 6 images jpg format that i would like to use and make into 1 image, i want some to be more to the front and some more to the back so the end result is mixed into this one image. I know about layers but do not know how to use it in photoshop 7. Added to this, i would like to know if anyone could help me on how i would merge 2 or more images together side by side so to give an effect of one fading into the other ...

In the link right here [URL] n i have 4 files; Q3a_arrow_gimp_ver4.tga (TGA that works as i want it, you'll notice ALL the alpha channels have a black layer channel in the channels tab, how do i recreate that?) Q3a_arrow_methodtry.tga (tried to recreate with THIS tutorial [URL] with no success P.S. i tried loooads of tutorials but this recreation seems rather close to the working .TGA i need) Q3a_arrow.ai (sourcematerial all vector from Adobe Illustrator) Q3a_arrow.png (picture with transparency intact if needed for comparison)
So; Now... What i did to make the working picture was making a .PNG - drag it into gimp.. I recall doing some Alpha and or masking or selection thing with it, then rendered it for .TGA since Illustrator does not support the kind of .TGA i needed. Worked flawlessly in the engine where i use a function called alphafunc GE128 (blend with black as invisible layer and white as solid)
if its possible to apply a Transparency (bottom) layer to all 600 (top) layers quickly?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDesigner Pro 6: I've made round cornered pix for a catalog. I export as a PNG and the corners show black in the Web app I'm using, but they are transparent so it's OK. The last set of pix were done in Xara Xtreme 5, when I exported those as PNGs the corners were white, and the transparency was OK. My question is why the white or black corners, and is there something I can do that will control that? I used the same approach in Designer as in Xtreme 5.

This is probably super simple. I do a lot of transparency stuff for the Web. My background color for the most part turns out to be black. I get my transparency but the program I'm using at the moment does a cleaner job with white. When it's black I see a little trash of black around the edge of the graphic. In the past I've come up with white quite by accident and it was clean as a whistle. I'm exporting as PNG, True Color + Alpha.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to batch save a series of PNG animation files using the File => Scripts => Export Layers to Files action in Photoshop CS5. Each layer has a transparency and a shadow that have been converted from layer effects and "baked" into the image. I tried the batch save but it turned all of the transparencies solid with white backgrounds. Also the image size was not cropped to the dimensions of the object on each layer.
Lastly, is there a way to edit the numbering for each file? When the images were exported it created a lengthy set of numbers after each file name when all I need is a 00 padding.
10.7.4/Mac Pro/PhotoshopCS6 13.0 - When cmyk converting a multilayered rgb file layers containing transparency doesn't convert to same profile as layers not including transparency, e.g. a product with a shadow - each on separate layers.
the product layer is converted to working Color settings but the transparent layer isn't and is converted completely different, both grayscale and UCR/GCR.
I need to set transparency on a couple of layers, how do I do that in GIMP 2.8?

GIMP however seems hell bent to remind me of this EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO SAVE A FILE (and even pops up a second "Oh, these are the current defaults, are they ok?" type dialog on some formats.)
Is there a switch hidden in GIMP that reads something like:
"When I click Save, assume I'm smarter than a plastic fork and know what I'm doing and just save the file in whatever default format has been requested like I told you to and do not attempt to engage me in playing 20 questions."
how to adjust the transparency of locked layers? Also when I isolate a layer the other layers appear semi transparent, is it the same setting to adjust this transparancy as well?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two layers , select them in the morph layers selection panel, and establish the selected points working the morph radius. But somehow the in between layers come out with some kind of transparency tween(fading away), and very little morphing is actually observable.

So, as it says; I'm unable to preserve the apperance of my image as the Layers get Merged.
I have an Object which I intend to slap onto a background, I want the Object to be Faded from one side to the other with 1/4 Solid to the Left and the remaing 3/4 fading out to about 120-140 Opacity in the furthest Right Part.
I've failed to achive this when I use the Rectangle Selction to; select, copy, delete, make new layer, paste.
Repeating that process across the the 3/4 and then changing the Opacity Value of each layer in order to create a Fade effect.
Now here's the issue, when I try to merge the Layers the individual "Strips" change their Opacity Value as the Merge with the other Layers.
I want to Preserve the Appperance the Image have before the Layers are Merged.
I've tired switching Blend Modes but wihtout Success.
I've also tried to without seperating the Image into "Strips" in Layers, using the Gradient to cause a Fade, however it ends up fading all of the Image to some degree (and not just the 3/4), additionally I can't control the exact Opacity Value of the Fade.
