Photoshop :: Layer Eyeballs
Sep 2, 2007Is there a quick way to turn on all of the layer eyeballs in one go, can shift click the layers to highlight them all.
View 2 RepliesIs there a quick way to turn on all of the layer eyeballs in one go, can shift click the layers to highlight them all.
View 2 RepliesI just upgraded to CS3 and it seems they added a step in highlighting layers in the layers pallette. In CS if you were working on one layer and the other layer had the eyeball turned off and you wanted to go back to that layer all you had to do was click the layer box and the eyeball popped back on.
Now in PS3 when you select the layer box the eyeball stays off and you have to click the eyeball to bring it back. Why would they add a new step to slow things down?
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have found that when I use the Layer Styles on one layer and then make a new layer or select a shape that creates a new layer that when I go to add Styles to the new layer/new shape the previous layer is affected by how I set the Bevel & Emboss, Direction, Altitude, Drop Shadow etc etc.
Â
For instance, let's say I have a ...
Â
BG > New Layer > draw an ellipse and then add a Bevel with an > Angle of 89 and an Altitude of 30 and then I add a New Layer > open the Styles and go to change the Angle to say +89 or whatever and the Altitude to say 45 ... the first Layer/Shape Effects change.
Â
How I can keep one Layer from being affected by an other Layers Effects'?
Â
I have found that if I Rasterize a Layer Effect that I can add a "double" effect on the same layer but I haven't tried the to do this with separate layers. However, for most of the work I am doing I cannot use the Raster because everything needs to be true vectors.
Â
I have a Dell Laptop/Windows 7 Home Premium that's a 64 bit
It looks like a thumbnail in center of layer with the box thing around it...And the paper I'm placing on is 12x12 or 3600x3600px.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer.  The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.

Upon trying to open a line sheet i'm working on, photoshop tells me:

Because the layer is not a valid layer. Some layers will use existing pixel data.
I have two maps of same area (different years) and I want to match them up as one map. I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background). I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map. I will also need to rotate the map slightly. When I try to resize it changes both maps. I have tried the transform and the move tool. So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a wax seal on Photoshop with a lot of embossment, bedevilment and a Smart Filter. It's done and I just need to make it smaller so it fits well on my certificate. When I resize it (Ctr + T) It pops up a message that reads:Â

Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended
Â
"Smart Filters applied to layers contained in this group will be turned off temporarily while the transform is being previewed. They will be applied after committing the transform."
Â
OK
Â
[] Don't show again

Â
I click OK and I re-size the layer with free transform, and then hit enter. The Layer is resized but my Smart Filter which creates a wavy affect around the seal is totally distorted.
Â
How do re-size my layer with smart filter without affecting the smart filter aspect of the layer.
What I want to do is to have an adjustment layer that is a reversed, black and white image. I initially thought to merge B&W and reverse adjustment layers, but read that an adjustment layer may not be the target of a merge. Is the way to accomplish this to fiddle with the B&W adjustment layer sliders somehow?

I like how the black and white displayed image of a given color channel looks, how can I export that channel into a layer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use a lot of adjustment layers and they're often applied to the previous layer. Is there a keyboard shortcut to automatically "Use pervious layer as clipping mask" without going through the dialogue box or manually applying in the layers palette(Option-click between layers)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA link or a brief explanation of"when & why" and "how to use" a master layer when working with a multi - layered image (psd or psb) file in CS6.

I've seen a couple of tutorials that make use of a "master layer" but I don't understand the "when & why.
I'm trying to copy a portion of a graphic and put it on another layer while keeping it's exact location as to how I view it am I understanded?
View 3 Replies View Relatedthis is my problem:
Â
Pic 1. I have an image I want to use as a background, however the image is not complete. I need a part of pic 2 to fullfill it.
Pic 2. The colors around the object doesn't match the colors of Pic 1.
Â
Normally it would be best to cut the object out. However in this case it wouldn't look nice (the object is mixed out (in color) with the rest of the image). If I cut out something the object won't look "proper".
My question:
Â
How can I blend pic 2 on pic 1, using the original object from pic 2 (as it is), and at the same time blend the colors around it, so that it matches that of pic 1 / or simply remove it somehow?
I know that if I make a selection I can press Ctrl + J to promote that selection to a new layer. Is there a way to promote the layer but leave the focus on the existing layer?
Â
What would be the absolute icing on the cake would be if I could have the focus stay on the existing layer AND for the selection that has just been promoted to be de-selected.
I'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.
this is how i usually duplicate a layer, by dragging and dropping to the new layer icon at the bottom of the palette. it is not letting me do that.
also, when i select a a single, or group of layers and move them around in the palette, i thought it used.
(CS3) I have a raster layer that has some semi-transparent pixels.
I'd like to make the layer itself fully opaque, and move the contents of its alpha channel into a layer mask.
(If possible, merging the alpha channel with what I have already placed into the layer mask.)
Is there a difference between selecting your layer and clicking Add Layer Mask Icon versus having that layer selected, hold down ctrl and select Add Layer Mask Icon?
Also regarding working in Lightroom, if I modify a jpeg, select another image from filmstrip to work on and then go back to the first image for more work, are those actions degrading image even though I never physically save and close.
I used to be able to select a layer (getting the Marching ants of a layer on a image) via the Layers palette (I think I used to press ctrl + mouse-click) but now, in Photoshop CS2, I can't get it to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've often been annoyed by the fact that that I need to go into the layer panel each time I need to switch between editing a layer and editing it's mask. Surely there must be a way to do this with a shortcut. I found a way to disable the layer mask in the shortcut menu, but this is not something I need to do that often. Switching between layer and layer mask, however, happens all the time - at least in my workflow.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out how I can use a text or shape layer as a mask for the layer below. See the example attached and you will know what I mean. (I created the example with simply cutting out the text outline from the white box).

I need the text to be a mask and I need it to be editable as text. Don't know if this is possible, experimented with clipping masks but I cant make it work.
