Photoshop :: Add Second Layer Of Keyboard Shortcuts By Toggling Second Layer?
Jul 4, 2012I want to add a second layer of keyboard shortcuts, by toggling the second layer (alt, shift, etc)

View 3 RepliesMy tool keyboard shortcuts work for switching from one tool to another, but not for toggling between that catagory of tool (for intstance: using "L" for toggling between lasso, polygonal lasso and magnetic lasson). how to fix this? (I use a Mac OSX, if that's relevant.)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Intuos5 tablet and am now setting it up to work properly. It apparently has some issues with non-US keyboards and requires some shortcut remapping. Which wouldn't be a problem (I got brush size working), if only I could find the place where the layer cycling shortcuts are hidden.
I see this might be a rather dumb question, but I went through the Edit->Keyboard Shortcut menus multiple times and just couldn't find what I was looking for. is it possible to make Canvas Rotation seamless and not only by 90 degrees in CS2?
if there are keyboard shortcut keys to these two operations?
1. Selecting a different layer than the active layer w/ keyboard key and selecting an item on that layer on the canvas?
2. Shortcut key strokes to select > Transform > Scale?
This new behavior of PS in which you can press a key to select a certain tool, and then pressing the same tool again will select the next tool within that tool category. Is there a way to turn it off? Its making my workflow a mess at the moment. Since in the past I've never needed to depend on looking at what icon I'm using to know what tool is selected, now having to look every time to make sure the right sub-category tool is selected is getting unbearably annoying. I already had my key assignments directly linked to sub-category tools and my workflow was fast since I never had to check anything, I just had to press 1 button and thats it. Now I'm having to take an extra step thousands of times in one afternoon because I end up always not being on the right sub tool.

If I didn't have the 5D MKIII I'd just stick with CS4 but I'm cornered since CR7 is so much better than Canons DPP software.
I want to set a keyboard shortcut for toggling the visibility of User Work Planes in 2013. I can't seem to find a way to do it. I am able to find it in 2012. Has this been removed from the customize menu in 2013? See attaced pic
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep triggering this by accident and can't figure out what combo I'm hitting, or how to disable it. I've looked in the Keyboard Shortcuts but can't find it.
Â
I'm on a laptop keyboard, so I use the fn key a lot to access enter when I'm finished editing text. Every once in a while (but often enough to be annoying), I attempt to enter out of text editing and suddenly everything stops, the gray rotating "processing" cursor appears, and for a few seconds I'm in a mild panic about how long it's been since I saved. Then a dialog box comes up asking if I want to switch to the 3D workspace or something. Clicking "no" doesn't stop the unwanted 3D thing from happening, and the last History item then says "Extrusion from Text Layer." I then Undo and go on with what I was doing.
Â
I've always got my left hand positioned over the lower left corner of the keyboard, and move quickly when using shortcuts and switching tools. What combination I keep hitting by accident - something with fn, ctrl, opt, cmd, shift, I don't know, plus possibly return or enter. What is it, and how do I disable it?
I just recently discovered the keyboard shortcut for toggling the current layer on and off and it is an incredible time saver. Is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut dedicated to toggle a specific layer on and off regardless of what layer I am working on? I use Photoshop for painting and I'll have a layer set up like an overlay, with my line drawing set to Multiply blending mode at about 25% opacity.Â
However, as the painting progresses, I need to turn that layer on and off continuously to be able to see my painting without the lines overlayed. I know I lose a lot of time having to go over and turn the eye off and then back on over on the layers pallete. I've tried setting something up as an Action, and had a shortlived success, but when I added new layers or moved them around after setting it up, it stops working. I have to say, it was my first attempt at creating an Action of any kind, so there may be a way to keep it working regardless of what I do to the other layers, Having the ability to somehow dedicate a key for quick toggling of my drawing layer would be another tremendous time saver.
Is there a Keyboard Shortcut for Auto Select Layer or a way to set one?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have found that when I use the Layer Styles on one layer and then make a new layer or select a shape that creates a new layer that when I go to add Styles to the new layer/new shape the previous layer is affected by how I set the Bevel & Emboss, Direction, Altitude, Drop Shadow etc etc.
Â
For instance, let's say I have a ...
Â
BG > New Layer > draw an ellipse and then add a Bevel with an > Angle of 89 and an Altitude of 30 and then I add a New Layer > open the Styles and go to change the Angle to say +89 or whatever and the Altitude to say 45 ... the first Layer/Shape Effects change.
Â
How I can keep one Layer from being affected by an other Layers Effects'?
Â
I have found that if I Rasterize a Layer Effect that I can add a "double" effect on the same layer but I haven't tried the to do this with separate layers. However, for most of the work I am doing I cannot use the Raster because everything needs to be true vectors.

What I am wanting to do is select objects or object mouse and use a keyboard shorcut to change those objects to a layer that is frozen. The layer is called "AS-BUIILT DELETED"Â

cmd-l : lock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-l: unlock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-c: copy layer style
cmd-alt-v: paste layer style

Copy layer style is listed in the keyboard shortcuts dialog. For some reason it wants to raster shape layers so that's totally unusable.
Keyboard shortcuts will work for a little while, then suddenly stop. I can still select tools 'manually', clicking the icons, but pressing P for the paint brush tool or E for the eraser will have no effect. So far as I can tell this happens at random. It has also been fixing itself at random, after some undetermined amount of time not working, but then it just happens again.Â

'Use shift key for tool switch' is already unchecked in my preferences.

I'm on Photoshop CS6
Mac OS 10.7.3
I've got like 580 gigs of free disk space, and 8 GB of RAM...
I was madly working along, and suddenly, no keyboard shortcuts worked. I wrestled with this for quite some time. Then I realized that I had two layers selected, instead of one. When I selected only one layer, all my keyboard shortcuts returned and began to operate as normal.
Â
I'm just wondering whether this is a feature to protect the user from unwittingly altering more than one layer at a time, or whether it's a bug?
I have just started using my Photoshop CS6 (64-bit).
Â
I am trying to use Ctrl++ and Ctrl+- to zoom in and out respectively, but nothing happens.

Is there something that I should be doing before starting to use the keyboard shortcuts?

This is my first post as I've been having a problem with my new Copy of CS2. I previously used PhotoShop 5 which had particular shortcuts which I have been using for years now but since purchasing CS2 I cannot use these shortcuts? I've explored the edit Shortcuts route but alas it doesn't let me change any of the shortcuts and some of them are not even listed. Code:

Most shortcuts of mine are working. But some, like print, color settings are not bringing up the appropropriate boxes. And the strange part is that the correct keys are listed in the menu.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit and PS CS2. I've been running the same copy of CS2 for a long time now but on XP. Now that I'm in Vista, some of the keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work and I'm not sure why. I don't see anything in the FAQ about this, and I -know- they are valid, default shortcuts.
Two examples (I use these all the time since I work with a lot of small icons):
#1. Using the arrow keys to shift the current layer/selection over by 1px (or the Shift+arrow keys combo for 10px) doesn't work anymore.
#2. Using Ctrl + and Ctrl - to zoom in and out of the image does not work anymore.
Anyone have any ideas? Maybe Vista is overriding / intercepting the keys somehow?
I just installed Photoshop CS and except for my tool pallet, all my shortcuts are dead. My actions work but only by actually clicking the action button, not by the asigned keys.
