Nov 19, 2008after selecting with any lasso tool , in CS4 (Windows XP), I'm unable to use either the keyboard shift key or the alt key to add or substract in the selection.

Photoshop :: Keyboard Shortcuts For Zoom + Lasso Tool Delete - Not Working!
Apr 14, 2004I've used Photoshop 7 for around a year now, using it mainly to touch up digital photos. I've just upgraded to Photoshop CS, but I've found that I'm having difficulties with my keyboard.
Usually, to zoom in, I can press CTRL + +. However, when I do this, nothing happens. Also, when I make a mistake with the magnetic lasso tool, I can usually press my Delete key to undo the last fixed point. Again, this doesn't work. All that is on on my keyboard is "Number Lock", which just allows me to use the right hand number keypad. Even with this off, the problems still aren't solved.

Sep 11, 2013My lasso and marquee tools are automatically correcting themselves. When I try to use them and select and area they change (usually into ovals) or they will tell me I do not have enough pixels selected (when I've tried it with entire photos).

Aug 20, 2012This new behavior of PS in which you can press a key to select a certain tool, and then pressing the same tool again will select the next tool within that tool category. Is there a way to turn it off? Its making my workflow a mess at the moment. Since in the past I've never needed to depend on looking at what icon I'm using to know what tool is selected, now having to look every time to make sure the right sub-category tool is selected is getting unbearably annoying. I already had my key assignments directly linked to sub-category tools and my workflow was fast since I never had to check anything, I just had to press 1 button and thats it. Now I'm having to take an extra step thousands of times in one afternoon because I end up always not being on the right sub tool.
If I didn't have the 5D MKIII I'd just stick with CS4 but I'm cornered since CR7 is so much better than Canons DPP software.
Photoshop :: Tools Not Staying Selected After Keyboard Shortcut?
Sep 12, 2013I'm hoping this is a dumb problem that is easily disabled with a perhaps inadvertently-enabled Preference somewhere.In the past few months I've had a lot of trouble with tools I've selected via shortcut key not... "sticking".
In other words, I'll press "Z" for Zoom or "V" for Move, and before I have a chance to use the tool, it's reverted back to whatever tool I was using already. I can sit there and watch it revert back after a few moments on its own.
If I select the tool from the Tool Palette manually by clicking the icon with the mouse, it always stays, as expected.
I seem to encounter this problem more often when I'm utilitizing a lot of RAM or have a very complex document open. Restarting Photoshop seems to "fix" the problem temporarily, but eventually it starts happening again.
I'm using CS6 13.0.5 x64 on OS X 10.8.4.

Mar 6, 2012I like to use keyboard shortcuts in GIMP to select different tools or to nudge an image, but I frequently click on the layers window, which causes keyboard shortcut commands to then be directed to the layers window. So whenever I click to select a different layer or do anything with layers, afterwards I always have to have to click on the image window again to regain use of my editing keyboard shortcuts.
Because of this, I also often forget that layers window has focus and end up messing up my layers with key-shortcut commands intended for the image window. Is there some change I can make to my workflow or keyboard bindings to avoid this problem?

Dec 5, 2011I am starting to color some old line art (cartoons) but can't get any (eraser, brush etc) tools to work on the non background layer. I could just auto fill on the background but that is too finicky, too many open shapes that end up filling the whole page in that color! I want so that I can color in indiscriminately w/o worrying about covering my lines.
How come I can't get so that when I erase, I don't get the transparency checkerboard underneath? I put the BG layer on top then the erase tool does not work! What fundamental thing did I forget?
Lightroom :: Unable To Use Eyedropper And Targeted Adjustment Tools
Jul 13, 2010When trying to use the eyedropper or targeted adjustment tools (in the HSL menu), I will grab the tool and hover over my photo and my cursor changes to the magnifying glass. When using the eyedropper the preview will reflect the white balance but when I click my photo is enlarged instead of using the tool. I know there must be a simple answer, I am just a first time user of Lightroom (previously used Bridge/Camera RAW) and am getting very frustrated.

Dec 3, 2012While trying to troubleshoot another user's problem, I discovered that I can't open the point creation tools on my computer. I can create the points by picking the appropriate type of point I want to create under the menu, but I can' change any of the point creation tools options.
Nothing happend when I click on points->create points.on the menu.
Nothing happens when I click on points->create points on hte ribbon.
I can create points by clicking on points->create points miscellaneous->manual either the ribbon or the menus.
It's like the command to open the Create Points Tools is somehow disabled on my computer.

Dec 16, 2012I just installed Lr4 with update 4.3. . First when i click a photo in develop mode it shows up very small. If I adjust the zoom the photo does erratic things. It gets big but with massive distortion then it will clear up but will have an effect like looking into a bunch of mirrers. Also i can not get the adjustment tools to work at all.

Jun 18, 2009I sometimes get lucky with the magic lasso, but often times both tools kind of select stuff i dont want. In windows you can hold ctrl and select/deselect certain files in windows even though they are not next to each other. I thought i read somewhere that holding alt or ctrl (windows) will do the trick but it doesnt. Anyone know if a good online tutorial or have any tips on learning to use lasso?

When you click on the magnetic lasso tool it doesnt always let you select what you want to select, sometimes it will say "Warning: no pixels are more than 50% selected. The selected edges will not be visible". Other times instead of actually selecting anything close to the area I selected it just makes a circle looking lasso instead, which typically eliminates the sharp edges I would like to select at times.
I know at some point in time the magnetic lasso allowed me to select every sharp edge and every detailed spot I wanted, so what did I click? I tried reinstalling photoshop and that didnt help.

Oct 23, 2005I want to select some object from an image using the Magic Wand or the Lasso tools, how do I select just that image without it including unwanted elements, or not including everything I want.
Example, picture of my truck, I want to take the truck out and put it on another image, but everytime I try the wand, it either takes things I don't want, surrounding background elements etc, or doesn't take the whole truck.
I just can't seem to get it to select everything and ONLy what I want. Isn't there a way to just outline on the very outermost regions the element I want?
