Lightroom :: Unable To Use Eyedropper And Targeted Adjustment Tools

When trying to use the eyedropper or targeted adjustment tools (in the HSL menu), I will grab the tool and hover over my photo and my cursor changes to the magnifying glass. When using the eyedropper the preview will reflect the white balance but when I click my photo is enlarged instead of using the tool. I know there must be a simple answer, I am just a first time user of Lightroom (previously used Bridge/Camera RAW) and am getting very frustrated.

In HSL, the Targeted Adjustment Tool (TAT) works only intermittently. Sometimes it does not move the sliders at all, sometimes only a little, sometimes it works normally. Problem persists even after LR restart and exists both with Apple Magic Mouse and Wacom Pen/Tablet as input devices.

This was an issue with some RCs from previous versions.Â

I just installed Lr4 with update 4.3. . First when i click a photo in develop mode it shows up very small. If I adjust the zoom the photo does erratic things. It gets big but with massive distortion then it will clear up but will have an effect like looking into a bunch of mirrers. Also i can not get the adjustment tools to work at all.

I just downloaded a trial version of Lightroom 5. I want to change the white balance (temp and tint) using local adjustment brush but when I take a new brush, all I can change is

1. Exposure
2. Brightness
3. Contrast
4. Saturation
5. Clarity
6. Sharpness
7. Color

The Temp and Tint buttons that should appear on the top of this tool are not present. As shown below....

Similarly, as per some youtube videos, in the Basic tools, I should get

1. Highlights
2. Shadows
3. Whites
4. Blacks

Instead I get
Â
1. Recovery
2. Fill light
3. Blacks
Â
As shown below.
Why is there such differences in the option? Is this because it is a trial version?

Consider this simple document with 2 layers and an adjustment layer:

Note the eyedropper targets. They read as expected:Â
Now, observe what happens when I click my adjustment layer (this is a new Levels adjustment that has NOT YET BEEN TOUCHED - so there should be NO CHANGE)Â
It doesn't matter whether the adjustment layer or its layer mask are selected, the results are the same. Here are my eyedropper settings:

Proof Colors is off. I can't think of any other setting to play with. This looks like a pretty huge bug to me, and it's not something I remember from earlier versions.

Just a few months ago I changed from a PC to an iMac, and am running Photoshop CC for photographers including Lightroom.I am still able to use the Command/Z (formally Alt/Z on the PC if memory serves) shortcut to un-do the most recent adjustment, even though that shortcut is not listed among the shortcuts in the Help page. However, I am unable to use the corresponding Command/Y to re-do the adjustment.Is it a secret or just not available in CC and/or a Mac? I used to use these often to check out recent adjustments and I'd like to have it back.

Win 7 CS4..I was working on a Nikon raw .nef image in Smart Image mode when the following error message appeared out of the blue. "Unable to create local adjustment. All the local adjustment controls are set to have no effect on the image." Should I uninstall & reinstall CS4?

I was editing my images on RAW when all of a sudden I guess I pressed an incorrect key (yeah you know those split seconds where something happened and you dont know what you did) and now everytime I want to use the Graduated Filter tool or the Adjustment Brush tool and I press on top of the image it gives me the following message: ERROR:Unable to Create Local Adjustment. All the local adjustment controls are set to haveno effect on this image It doesnt work on ANY raw images now, I tried pressing "Reset Camera Raw Defaults" and it still doesnt work. Is there a setting that I moved without noticing? At the time this happened I had 6 pictures on camera Raw I had synchronized them and I was doing small adjustments to one of the images, I had finished using the Graduated Filter tool on an image when then all of a sudden it stopped working.

In Photoshop CS6, when I open the program, I am unable to access the tools. I will not allow me to change from the hand tool. Cannot zoom, cannot move with the hand icon that pops up. I have restarted the program many times. Using a Mac book Pro, 10.7.5.

Odd behavior in released x64 version of CS6 for Windows: on my laptop (ASUS G73S with 1.5 gb nVidia GeForce video), when I crop an image, the drop-down menus in a curves adjustment layer become unclickable.
But I can still access the RGB channels using the Alt + 3, 4 and 5 shortcuts. This behavior doesn't occur on my workstation, and if I don't crop the image, the drop-down menus work fine. I have the crop tool set to delete pixels. Also, if I apply curves directly (not with an adjustment layer), the dialog box works OK. And the other adjustment layers seem to be working, too. It's only the curves layer that's doing this.

I am starting to color some old line art (cartoons) but can't get any (eraser, brush etc) tools to work on the non background layer. I could just auto fill on the background but that is too finicky, too many open shapes that end up filling the whole page in that color! I want so that I can color in indiscriminately w/o worrying about covering my lines.
How come I can't get so that when I erase, I don't get the transparency checkerboard underneath? I put the BG layer on top then the erase tool does not work! What fundamental thing did I forget?

While trying to troubleshoot another user's problem, I discovered that I can't open the point creation tools on my computer. I can create the points by picking the appropriate type of point I want to create under the menu, but I can' change any of the point creation tools options.
Nothing happend when I click on points->create points.on the menu.
Nothing happens when I click on points->create points on hte ribbon.
I can create points by clicking on points->create points miscellaneous->manual either the ribbon or the menus.
It's like the command to open the Create Points Tools is somehow disabled on my computer.

My PS don't want to understand me! Every time i close brush panel, save document and every time after starting PS i see this panel. In preference i try picking "Remember Panel Location", but it's not working. And this software don,t save last color mode, i start PS with grayscale mode.

In Using the adjustment brush with exposure mode active I get a light red/pink color over the area the brush is used, this is not the mask that shows up when the curser is put over the pin. I also can not not make real time adjustment but when I click the adjustment brush to turn it off I can see the changes I tried to make.

When I try to use the adjustment brush by selecting the brush, the sliders shown for the brush change the complete photograph, which I do not want it to do. When I use the brush it makes changes. But, if I make a slider change that I want for the brush it actually changes the complete photograph. It has worked properly in the past. I was able to make a slider change and it would only make changes to the area the brush selected.

In Develop, when preparing to use the Adjustment Brush, first I adjust the size of the brush. I slide my cursor along the Size slider and the displayed adjacent "sample brush" varies in size. Next, I move the cursor into the field of the image. When the cursor crosses over into the image field, the circle indicating brush size changes; it gets larger by roughly 25%. I have been using the adjustment brush now for what seems like 2 or 3 years, but I can't recall it changing size before. Is this normal? 2 screenshots: a) the cursor(sadly not reproduced in the screenshots) hovers at the slider; b) The cursor is moved to the image field, and the Adjustment brush circle has increased in size. Â

I'm having trouble with LR4. lately when i try to make adjustments to the sharpening i am able to strt moving the slider and than it stops and it says not responding. I have to shut it down and try it again but it does't work.

I have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing. I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2). I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.Â

Just upgraded to LR5 and noticed that the color has gone from my white balance and other sliders within the develop module. Ie. the channels or groves of the slider bars are all white, and lack the guideline color gradients that used to be useful. How do I get the color back?

I am using LR 4.2 and I have a question about the non-destructive editor, specifically the use of adjustment brushes. After I work with an adjustment brush and then go on with my editing I can't figure out how to make tweaks to what was darn earlier on the adjustment brush area. With all the other editing functions I can change something and then later make a change. For example, I can set -10 highlights and then later I can change it to -15 highlights and then later change it to something else. With things I have done with adjustment brushes though I haven't figured out the technique to do that. If I select adjustment brush and then click on the area that I had earlier changed with an adjustment brush it doesn't seem to reselect that area so that I can tweak it. Is there a way to go back and tweak areas selected with an adjustment brush?

With Adobe tech support, I consolidated my LR 2.7 catalog with LR 5 catalog. But when I opened up the older photos in LR5, I had only the L2 2.7 Adjustments available.

Do I need to reimport the older photos? I thought that an yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it would show up to update. Is 2.7 too far a leap to LR5?
