I have an image with lots of colors. I was wondering how could I select all the greens in the image.
The problem is:
- by "all the greens" I mean even those colors that have in their RGB values, Green as little as 1, even those need to be caught in the selection.
If I draw a box in illustrator and fill it with pms 180 it's bright orange. When I do the same thing in photoshop it's red (which is much closer to the actual color). I've synched all of my color settings in bridge but that doesn't make any difference. When I copy the image from illustrator and paste it into photoshop it's still orange. And when I save it as a pdf or export it as a jpeg, it's still orange. I can make it look red in illustrator by switching to overprint preview, but that doesn't do my any good. When I send this file to my client.

2) Is there a way to crop an image based on histogram? For example if I wanted to remove all px that were above level 200 for all colors (or a specific color). Can effect the image at all from the histogram (without an side step to something like select color range)?

I'm working with very large images on multiple systems (both 32 and 64 bit, all CS4). Normally in the 50,000x30,000 -- 50,000x70,000 px range. For the sake of argument and ease of use I could scale down but eventually need to be operating in this range. The images are created by stitching a series of images taken under high magnification. I would like to find ways to quantify certain regions of interested based on color, but that do not have great color separation (see image 1). The hope would be take this information from several images and export the histogram information. As far as cropping the histogram is concerned: the scanning process used to create the stitched images produces a lot of near white color variation that so far I've been unable to select entirely (via color range select using clusters). I would say my best effort is only 85% of the "white" (see image 2) I want to drop out the white px for size reduction and noise reduction when it comes to histogram statistics.

Also I know this is pushing the limits of intention for PS, but we tried this on three other software packages-seemingly designed for these purposes--and failed.
Is it possible to select an area then within that area select by color?

I have photographs of a medical patient. I want to accurately measure certain medical features, to see if they are getting larger or smaller over time. I figure that I can use guide lines to measure - but that would require me to have each photo starting out as the same scale, and that's why I need to be able to accurately zoom.
I suppose I could resize, but that would seem to take a very large amount of trail and error. If I can zoom arbitrarily, I believe I can use layers with top-layer alpha = 50% or so, and match any two photos to each other.
Or is there a better way altogether? It's not feasible for me to have each photo be natively as the same size/distance as every other, so I have to adjust the photos themselves.
After cropping a photo to 4x6 it displays as 3.5 x 7 This makes the photo distorted. How do I fix the display to be accurate? People look shorter and fatter?
View 8 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I make a selection using CTRL+Click it never fully matches the cutout of the layer I am mimicking. There is always trim. I've posted a picture to best describe what is happening.Â

I've made a cutout using the background eraser. Because of this you can see how the cutout appears to be somewhat transparent around the edge.

When placed on 50% gray the hair trim is as detailed as I wanted. It's a satisfying result.

I now make a selected of this semi transparent cutout by cimply CTRL+Clicking the layer.Â

I now duplicate the original (not cutout) and use this selection to cutout again (don't ask why) but the cutout doesn't match 100%. It's close, but it simply doesn't match. I've also tried using this selection to make a mask on the non cutout image and the edge is exactly the same.

I thought some auto anti-alias may be turned on but I can't seem to find anything. I really need a duplicate of this cutout to match precisely.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen working on my bands logo that has 2 layers on it. One has layer effects on it (inner and outer glow). When I flatten the image, it changed the way that it looked. Found out that it just "looks" like it changes because my canvas wasn't at 100%. I have to zoom out to about 25% to be able to see the whole image and work on it.
Is there any way to accurately see my whole image on the canvas and what the layer effects will actually look like? The way it works now, how the image will change once I flatten it. Being zoomed out makes what I'm actually viewing on the screen to be wrong it seems.
I attached 2 images, (Both are at 25%) the first one is what I'm looking at on screen BEFORE I flatten the image. This is what I want my actual image to look like. The second is AFTER I flatten the image. Notice the inner/outer glow gets smaller. I tried to just increase the size of the glows to compensate once I flatten it since I noticed that they were basically just shrinking. This doesn't really work though and I lose the noise effect on the white outer glow.
How am I supposed to work on the image and see what it looks like as a whole if zooming out doesn't show what the image will ACTUALLY look like?
I have a picture of some speakers with red wire. I'd like to select the red and put the wires on a new layer.
I go to select color range and set it to red and i see in the preview that the wires are selected. But the save option is greyed out in the dialog box.
well thats it I'm stuck. when i hit OK it says less than 50% pixels error??
I have an image that is just a rounded corner and I need the color changed. The image is red and the background white all on one layer. Is there a way to only select the red area? This way I can brush it with a different color.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Mac OS 10.6.8 and recently updated Photoshop to version 13.0.4. Select color range is not working properly. Won't select black or white in a black on white logo. Created layer with half green and half red. Select color range will work (in a strange fashion linked to the invert button on the pop up screen) for green half but not red half. Majic wand works fine for either but I must use select color range quite a bit in my work flow.

Is this a compatibility issue or a bug? Have found a couple of recent references to same thing specifically to Photoshop versions 13.0.4 on web but no information on cause or correction. Currently downloading 13.0.4 update again and will reinstall to see if that fixes problem but would like to know if I have to go back to previous version to recapture functionality.
if I bring a photo in to Photoshop, at that point I have just a layer and the eyedropper will work just fine selecting which ever color I want from that image. However, if I then bring in and place a second image into photoshop, so that now I have two layers that I'm working on, the eyedropper will not select any color on that new image. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. I just want to be able to select a color from that second layer image.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use film of actors to match the lips for the characters. I am struggling because rendering is taking a few hours (1050 frames in scene 1) and when I get the final product I am seeing things that I need to go back and change. Scrubbing the timeline does not seem to be very accurate..... and this brings me to question 2. I am using film, brought into 3ds max as an image sequence and put as a material onto a plane in the background (then I hide it for rendering).
I am using scanline renderer, but I would have thought that quicksilver or iray would have been faster, they seem to be taking forever...
There are two characters, both have bitmap skin images and are wearing shirts using a bitmap image. The background is Alpha and that is it, there is one spotlight (I would like more but I have read that lights take lots of rendering time)
So, Question 1- Is there a better way to preview a scene - I am trying to get natural looking movement for characters and failing (I only have film of faces for lips)
Question 2- Can I improve my rendering speed?
Question 3 - Am I using reference film correctly?
i can't accurately reposition lines at 1000% zoom. even in preview mode. I tried it in cs5 and it works fine. installed an update in cs6 but still the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that on some versions of cs6 when i select the "set foreground color" (or background), the color dialog pops up with the hex number selected allowing me to quickly ctrl+c it. However, on other computers - with the exact same copy of Photoshop (cloud based and fully updated) it does *not* auto select the hex number. I've looked through the settings to see if this is a feature that needs to be turned on/off but could not find it.

Each time I make the selection the dialog box freezes, I can not exit the dialog, or cancel the save options are available but even after saving can not exit dialog box. Also the menu "Select" "Save Selection" option does not work.

I end up having to close the program using Windows Task Manager. I am running Windows 7, CS6 13.01 I have tried this in both the 64 and 32 bit versions of CS6. Oddly if while in the Color Range selection Dialog intermittently if you only make one sample with the dropper tool you can exit the dialog with the selection in tact, but not always.

anyway im really into photgraphing cars. i just started photoshop and i found i can really do alot to the cars with this program.
my question is i have a car that is in the sun at an angle and the windows are tinted but the angle you can see in a little.. how can i outline the window and darken it so it looks more tinted?
I want to select a specific color from within the image, and change all similar colors within that image to a different color. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?
How does one set the text column width accurately?

Say I have an editable patch cube. Is there a way to accurately Fillet the edges of the cube while it's a patch?
I need to use patch modeling so I can convert to nurbs for IGES export. I really don't want to convert to an editable poly at any point in the process because it adds so many extra patches when I convert it back.
