I want that slight edge on the top and left boarder only.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Text Within Shape While Precisely Keeping The Shape's Outline
Nov 11, 2011I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?

Illustrator :: Get Path Outline To Cut Out The Shape Below
Feb 26, 2013I have been playing around a bit - and think the answer lives somewhere in compound paths, but can't quite get it right.
In the example below, I essentially want the anter to cut out it's outline shape into the axe. Same with the shield over everything.
This is essentially so I can place the logo over all sorts of backgrounds, without having to have a white outline on it.

Not sure why it is there as an identicle object within the same project doesn't have it!

Mar 21, 2013I'm new to illustrator and I'm trying to achieve something I hoped would be quite simple. I want to take a bitmap, live trace it, then create an outline of 2px wide only around the outside limits of the shape. I want to then get rid of all of the live trace vectors and be left with my very simple outline of the original image. Eg.
I've tried image expand, I've tried outline, but nothing seems to work as I need it to.

Sep 20, 2011I've been using Xara Photo and Graphic designer for about a week now to design some characters for a game I'm working on and in general find it great to use as a freehand authoring tool.
In order to develop a cartoon style, I'm building my characters out of free hand coloured objects with black outlines with cel shading made from partial masked clones of the objects. This works a treat until I come to put two of the objects together and want to erase part of the outline on the topmost object where it meets the underlying one.
I thought I'd found a solution with a tip on the Xara site (at the top of the page here) where you draw the outline portion you want and combine with a second object then break the objects again. This pretty much achieves what I want, I get a filled object with the outline broken where I originally left it, however, things start to go wrong when you attempt to mask clone a part of the object you've created (for example, to produce a shaded portion of the underlying object) as it's still a line and not a shape, so the mask clone gets confused and doesn't cut out the intended area.
This must be a pretty regular requirement, particularly for people creating flash animations, so I'm sure I must be missing something or going about the construction of the image in the wrong way.

Jan 2, 2013Currently self teaching myself using 3D on a current project I'm working on. A cable stayed bridge having a span of 30 metres supported primarily by a single diagonal parabolic arch. The arch is square in section but rotated so it looks like a diamond along the arch length. To draw the arch I have drawn the arch sections at intervals along the centreline where it changes size in section 1.4, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0m. I have then used the loft command to draw the arch using the drawn sections as the objects to loft through.
For the GA drawing I have a plan view and elevation. When printing the generated/ lofted lines are are pixelated and not very crisp or clear (not a solid line).
I have tried adjusting the visual style and shade plot, for each of the options and none of them are giving me a solid crisp outline for the generated arch. I have also had a little play using the visual styles manager but nothing seems to work and also tried maximum quality in the print options.
What do I need to do to print a solid crisp outline for the outline of the arch please, are you able to select the edges of the square and convert them to solid 2d/ 3d lines.

Jan 10, 2013I have a black-and-white outline drawing that I want to color in using the "Bucket Fill" tool. There are two things I'd like to do to make it easier:
1. Is there a way to prevent Bucket Fill from leaking through small gaps in the drawing? Usually what happens is, I fill in one region, and then suddenly a much larger region gets filled in. I then have to examine the borders of the region for a small opening, close the gap with black, and then try again. Is there a feature that lets me say e.g. "Don't fill through gaps less than 4 pixels wide"?
2. Once I'm done coloring, I want to remove the black outline to make a more realistic, less cartoony image. However, it's tedious to go and paint over every segment of the outline with the color of its adjoining regions. What I want to do is essentially: Replace every black pixel in the image with the color of the closest non-black pixel. Is there a feature that does this?
Also, if there are third-party plugins that do these things, that would work just as well.
Photoshop :: Unable To Scale Shape Layers Layer Mask Independent From Shape
Sep 25, 2012In Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!
This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).
