Photoshop :: How Do I Get PS To "play Nice" When I Add A Shape?
Apr 23, 2004
I want to add a line to a bit of text in Photoshop. I have the text in a layer, and I know how to add a line using the shape tool. The problem is, I'd like that line to be IN the text layer. No matter what I do, the @$#@$ thing shows up on it's own - it's not in ANY layer that I can see (ie, I make all layers invisible... the only thing I see on my screen is the line I drew.)
the thing takes over my Transform tool! If I want to, say, resize a layer, I typically choose Edit-Transform. If I have my line on the screen, Edit-Transform turns into Edit-Transform Path (I think that's the wording) and I can't do a thing to my layers - only the line I drew.
How do I get this thing to "play nice"? It would be ideal if I could add it to the layer my text is in.
The problem certainly has been discussed all over the place, but I've yet to find an answer in all of my research. And the problem hasn't been limited to only CS6 (earliest reported cases involve CS2), but that's what I'm in now...
Issue: Print screen image 01 captured (using the PrtScn key on the keyboard) to Windows' clipboard pastes into Photoshop document. Print screen image 02 captured to Windows' clipboard does not paste into Photoshop document, but instead image 01. Delete unwanted layer and capture image 02 again, and this time Photoshop pastes in image 02. Curiously, the problem is not remedied by Photoshop's menu Edit, Purge, Clipboard.
This problem does not occur in other applications like in Paint for example - only in Photoshop.
When I import a short AVCHD or MPG (~ 1 min., 100 mb) into Premiere Pro CS6 or After Effects CS6, it plays great. When I import the same file into Photoshop CS6 on the same computer, it's jerky, even with sound off, frame skipping enabled, cached, and no other applications running.
System is a Core i7 with 8 gb RAM, 1.5 gb nVidia GeForce, Win 7 x64 and DirectX 11. All drivers ruthlessly updated.
I'm trying to make a glass/crystal ball glow in the dark and have the glow emanating from a central point within the ball .... anybody have any ideas? Does this belong in a 3d forum?
I need to create a background for a piece... but it cant look cartoony or anything, and I dont want any planets. I just want really cool looking stars.
Basicly when i try to erase a layer/rectangle tool to make a nice fade this is what happens: every time i try to erase it makes a huge black lining around the erased part as u can see .
How to edit a .wmf file that is a graph and was generated by a statistical program. I need to visually enhance this graph, making it look more appealing for publication in a manuscript. It's very simple, just need to make rectangles behind the existing text that form the columns in the graph, and shade the rows of the graph to assist the reader to follow the row across the graph. While I can edit the text on the .wmf, I can't get a rectangle to be placed under the existing text unless I lower the opacity of the rectangle which won't work as I need black and white only. I've tried converting the text to rectangle, but the stretching of the text won't be acceptable. What would be the workflow I should attempt to follow to enhance the looks of the document in illustrator? Is there a trick to getting the rectangle to behave? It works just fine if I actually type NEW text in, then place a rectangle, but I'll have to work with the info in the .wmf file - can't re-type it all.
i have outlined this pic and used the Gaussian blur , but how would i soften the edges of the blur so it doesnt look so "sharp"? I want it to kinda blend in so to say here is the pic.
In Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!
This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).
I want to make a vector shape from a path. Is there a way to bypass having to define a new custom shape? I just want to quickly add the vector shape to a new layer, but I don't need it defined as it'll just be used once.
any way to delete more than a single shape at a time from a shape collection file, other like step by step with the option key? I have one collection with about 400 shapes and would like to save it to some "groups", like people, arrows, devices..
Since the release of Photoshop CC the "Live Shape Properties" has basically chosen when it does and does not want to show up.... sometimes I even create a new shape to replace the old one and it STILL does not show the live shape properties... how hard is it to make sure the options are available at all times? I opt for a discount since this is a half working application and the features you highlighted barely function...
Is it possible to fill a shape with a gradient fill so it goes up to all edges and gradually get darker/lighter inwards? For example, If I have a star shape, can I have a gradient fill in the shape of a 'star'?
Using cs6 and video won't play on tv/dvd? Settings? Have tried several and nothing is working? It will play on computer but I need it to show on tv using dvd player.
for some reason when i try to use an action i get the "don't" symbol. ( the one with the circle and a diagonal line ) how can i fix this? thanks, boyd.
Can anyone help me with the following problem. I use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate digital images from my camera. When I make a CD and try to play in on my DVD player to view on TV, I have a problem. My DVD play requires the exif format. I have been told that Photoshop drops the exif tag and thus I cannot view my images on my TV.
Is there a way to keep all the exif information and still use Photoshop?
