Like the title says I'd like to know how to darken (or change the color) a specific irregular area of a picture, without afecting the rest of the picture.
I want to darken the color of the thin "vertical!?" lines of this picture, without afecting the remaining picture:
The way I like to darken an image of a photo is that instead of using the burn tool, I create a new layer, set the opacity low (say 15) and then paint in the areas that I want to make darker. This gives me increased flexibility when I want to go back and fix what I did because I'm not altering the original layer.
Here's my problem though. One thing I like to do is to blur that layer using a gaussian blur to soften the edges of the area I am darkening. That works nicely but inevitably after applying the gaussian blur I want to come back and change something. That's a mess once the layer has already been blurred. So the work-around I've found is to save my darken layer and hide it from view (using the eye beside the layer) and then duplicate the layer and apply the gaussian blur. Then when I need to modify the area that I am darkening, I delete the visible blurred layer, change the invisible non-blurred version, then reduplicate and reblur. And that works.
What I think I want is some sort of "blurring" layer. Is there anything like that out there?
Lots of times I want to blur a mask a little and that gets to be a real pain. The steps I use to save my non-blurred version is to copy the mask to selection, then selection to path then change the path name to be Mask: (layer name). And then when I need to edit the non-blurred version, I delete the mask, change my path to a selection, then add mask from selection. then make my change, then reblur. Again it works but its difficult.
Using PS Elements 11 I can easily selecte (quick selection tool or smart brush tool) an area of a photo that I want to adjust, but I'm adbsolutely stymied as to how to apply the adjustment I want to that selected area??? How do I do it??? I have the area selected (e.g. I've slected a very bright sunlit area of a photo) that I want to make darker ... how do it do that?
Or I've selected an area of a photo that, after using the composition tool, has a lot of serious jagged lines, and I want to blur/smooth that area ... I've tried every conceivalbe combination (max radius etc.) of the blur filter, but nothing seems to significantly blur the selected part of the image. I would have thought that, given a "maximum" blur "setting", it would be possible to blur a selected piece of image into a uniform monotone blend ... is that not possible?
In a slideshow, can I set a specific first and last photo and have the rest play randomly. This is different from an identity plate as an intro screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop CS6 on a desktop running Windows 7 with AMD Radeon HD 6750 and I noticed that when I zoom at 66.7% or 33%, the pictures edges look "jagged"/blurry, etc. and the image only has a smooth rendering at 100%, 50%, 25%, etc.
I wouldn't ask about this except, I have the same exact version of Photoshop on my laptop, running Windows 7 with Intel's HD 4000 built-in graphics, and this computer displays smooth rendering of images at any zoom level, no matter what. So why the difference? The settings in the Preferences > Performance section is identical on both computers.
I work with maps, and i hatched a area, with a irregular shape, now i want to know this area, how can i proceed?? I already selected all area and clicked on properties to see Geometry information, acumulative... Did the List Comand.. and nothing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Photshop CS4. I create a picture with a specific size in Photoshop (eample: 8.5" x 11"). I send it to the printer. In the printer box it also shows the correct print size. However when it prints it is only a small sample of the picture. An 8.5' x 11" picture from Photoshop, showing that size in the Image box and in the Photoshop print box, when sent to the printer shows at the correct size and prints it at 2-3/4" x 3-1/2". If i save the picture from Photoshop onto my desktop, then open it in Microsogt Office Picture Manager, then send it to the exact same printer, it is printed out at the correct size. I don't know why it will not print it to the correct size from Photoshop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Coreldraw x3 for cutting vinyl to put on shirts and windows ect. I cut on 14" and 24" rolls of vinyl. To save vinyl I make a rectangle in corel at 14x25" or 24x25" and then I put the graphics in that rectangle as snug as I can to make sure I conserve as much vinyl as possible.
I am wondering if there is a way to select my rectangle and the art that I want to piece into it and have the program automatically fill up the space as sparingly as possible. This would save me a lot of time and it would probably be more efficient for saving vinyl because corel would know the optimal way to piece the art in.
Is this possible? I have aluminum part and would like to know how much weight the thinnest area can handle.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn PS5, if I start with a picture 5184 x 3456, I could crop a picture to be 2100 by 1500 by setting these parameters in the crop tool. No matter whether I decided to make a big crop or a small crop, my final image was always 2100 x 1500.
In PS6, however, I don't think the crop tool parameters work the same way. If I set the crop parameters to 2100 by 1500, my final crop is NOT 2100 by 1500, but rather my final crop is whatever original pixels I selected.

I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

I have a pretty standard workflow for my pictures, where i import as dng, adjust exposure and a few general parameters, and then convert them to black and white in Silver FX. But, there's one specific image that, when exported, looks warmer in the browser than in lightroom. I have investigated a bit on this, and here's what i've tested so far, without luck:
- Set color profile to v2 in colormunki.
- Recalibrate monitor and refresh color profile (colormunki).
- Set firefox gfx.colormanagement.mode to 1.
- Set color mode to black and white in LR. Re processed the image from scratch. Re exported.

there's a distinct warmish cast to the first image that i don't see on LR, and that i can't quite get rid of.
I would like to select an area of a picture of a clock, and then magnify just that selected area while leaving the rest of the image intact.

PSP X6. In the Manage workspace, in preview mode, the picture on the preview area does not fill the frame but about 3/4 of it leaving the right and bottom ends empty. It is the same with the 64b and 32b vertions.
