Illustrator Scripting :: Copy Artboard (and Art) To Another Document

Jan 25, 2012

Is there a way to write a script to copy a selected/chosen artboard (and it's contents) to another opened document, placing it in exactly the same place on the global x/y coordinates?  I'm either unable to find this feature built in to Illustrator, or it's simply missing.

Illustrator Scripting :: Assign Values To Artboard And Save Within Document?

Oct 14, 2013

Is there any chance to assign values to an artboard?

I've experimented with “tags”, but they only work for pageItems. (if the item which includes the stored data is deleted, the data is also deleted)

It is simple data like v1=true, v2=false, … I want to assign. And it needs to be saved within the illustrator document.

Illustrator Scripting :: Copy / Move And Paste Into Different Layer

Nov 12, 2013

I have a script that measures the repeat interval and gap between print impressions printed using a print cylinder (for the production team to know which print cylinders to use, and what to expect once it prints, when looking at the proof sheet). Basically it just measures the distance from the beginning of one print impression to the beginning of the next (these are printed with a cylinder, so every time the cylinder rotates a new print impression happens) as well as the distance in between prints. That part works great.

In order to get these meaurements, Illustrator is measuring the distance from a zero point on the artboard to the left side of a marker I made called "repeat", and it is assigned a variable called rawRepeat. What I'd like to do is have the script take that rawRepeat value and use it to move a copy of the print impression to the right by exactly that variable amount and paste it beneath the marker called "repeat". I have been doing this part manually, but haven't been able to figure out how to get illustrator to do this for me.

Here's the script I am using:

var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
var selectedObject = myDocument.selection;
var activeLayer = app.activeDocument.activeLayer;
var layerName = activeLayer.name;
activeLayer.name = "plate";

[Code] .....

Illustrator Scripting :: Copy And Paste Position And Size Of Two Different Objects?

Sep 20, 2012

how can I copy and paste position and size of two objects?

Let's say I have a circle 2 x 2 cm and it's position is y 5cm x 5cm, I have a square of size 3 x 7 cm and it's position is y 0cm x 0cm.

How do I copy and paste in a single command/step the circles position and size to square, so I can get square of 2 x 2 cm and it's position 5cm x 5cm?

Something like copy + paste in place with a different logics. I hope You understand what I want.

I'm doing it now manually, I'm copying size and position of one object to another [ctrl + c > ctrl + v] but it takes quiet a while,

Photoshop :: Copy Then Paste With Specific Position?

May 23, 2006

I'm batching my signature onto a bunch of photos at the bottom righthand corner. I put my preferences to percentage rather than pixels so I could try things for most sized-photos. My dilemma now goes like this:

I record, open my signature, copy & paste to the other image (works fine). The signature shows up in the middle of the other image and rather than moving it manually where it'll be different for vertical and horizontal photos, is it possible to align right and bottom or get specific with entering numbers such as 90% horizontal and 90% vertical placement?

Basically, when you copy & paste to a different open file, is there a way to specify exactly where it should go when you paste it, or do you have to manually move it?

Photoshop Elements :: How To Copy And Paste A Selected Area

I know how to do selections with marquee tool etc but not how to copy and paste a selected area. Is there a tool or method that will do this for me?

Xara :: How To Copy Object Or Text Block And Paste Multiples At Specific Intervals

Nov 10, 2011

I am in the course of evaluating Xara, and it has a lot of good things going for it compared to Adobe, particularly in combining many of the features of ID and AI. The graduated color screening on objects is way better than AI.

However, I cannot find how to copy an object or text block and paste multiples at specific intervals. Both Pagemaker and InDesign have this feature, so I can't believe Xara overlooked it, as it is particularly useful when laying out say business cards 12 up on a sheet for printing. Yes, I have done a search on this forum and also studied Xara help files.

Illustrator Scripting :: Printing Artboard Only With VBScript

Apr 17, 2012

My script creates an artboard in my pdf file. i need to print this artboard only.

if i go to file/print manually there is an option 'Bereich' (pls see screenshot, my illustrator is in german language), so only the 2nd page is printed. (exactly what i want)

up to now i could not find this option (or something similiar) within vbscript.

code:
...
appRef.ActiveDocument.Artboards.Add(Array(Rminx,Rmaxy,Rmaxx,Rminy)) ' vars are correctly set before
Set jobOptionsRef = CreateObject("Illustrator.PrintJobOptions")
Set printOpts = CreateObject("Illustrator.printOptions")
printOpts.JobOptions = jobOptionsRef
jobOptionsRef.Designation = 2 'aiAllLayers
jobOptionsRef.PrintArea=2
appRef.ActiveDocument.PrintOut printOpts
....

these lines prints 2 pages: 1) main document  2) artboard

if i set
jobOptionsRef.Designation = 1
only the main document is printed - but not the artboard. i need exactly the other way round, only the artboard but no main image.

Illustrator Scripting :: Move Layers To New Artboard

Feb 18, 2013

I'm trying to create a script via javascript for Illustrator.

My problem is : I have a AI file with multiple layers, i want to create one artboard per layer, in order to export a multipage PDF ( each page contain 1 layer ).

The layers represents the differents type of print ( vernish, color, hot gold, pressure ... ) and/or color type ( Pantone, CMYK, cut, kisscut ... ). My client want a PDF for see each type of print or color type per page.

I'm trying 2 ways :

1st solution : Create new artboards, and duplicate ( or move ) layers content on the new artboad, but the function move/duplicate don't work to move content on another artboard.

2nd solution : Create new document with the same number of layers as artboard and duplicate layer to the new artboard on the new document.

Illustrator Scripting :: Export Artboard As A JPEG

Jan 29, 2014

See title - is this possible?

I've made this small script to test a few things, before moving on to the bigger stuff (some of it have been cut out, since it's not important):

        var exportOptions = new ExportOptionsJPEG();
        var type = ExportType.JPEG;
        var fileSpec = new File(dest);
        exportOptions.antiAliasing = false;
        exportOptions.qualitySetting = 70;
        exportOptions.artboardRange = "3";
        app.activeDocument.exportFile( fileSpec, type, exportOptions );

I'm trying to export artboard #3 as a JPEG. But it doesn't work.

According to the scripting reference guide, most of the "ExportOptions"-functions support the artboardRange-parameter, but alas - JPEG does not.

Is there another way to do this? Right now I'm only getting all the artboards into a single JPEG-file, which is not what I'm searching for

Illustrator Scripting :: Making Object The Artboard Size?

Jan 24, 2012

trying to make an object the exact size of the artboard.  This is something I do on a daily basis for several different reasons and it would be very useful if this can happen automatically for whatever size the artboard may be.  As I understand it the only way is with a script but I have no experience with making illustrator scripts, im definately no programmer.  I have set up quickkeys in the past to copy from the artboard inputs when you are on the artboard tool but these round to the nearest .01 and this is not accurate enough for what I am working with.  Also if I do this with multiple pages open illustrator is very slow to respond to the artboard tool.

Below is a script that I saw on here that I believe may contain what I need but now knowing programming. Where to start on editing.  All I need is the part where an object is placed on the artboard that is the exact same size as the artboard.

#target illustrator function main() {     if (app.documents.length == 0) {          alert('Open a document before running this script');          return; // Stop script here no doc open…     } else {          var docRef = app.activeDocument;          with (docRef) {               if (selection.length == 0)

[Code].....
