It appears that Photoshop on an osx machine is also creating a ._Pictures Name.jpg file for each jpg in the same folder as the jpg. Is that a Photoshop or osx thing? is there a way to prevent all those extra files from being created?
We put the folders of jpg's on the windows server, then have to go through and manually kill all those ._files before we can use the folder.

It appears when I copy a folder of photos up to a server, it's also copying some hidden files that nobody can do anything with, causing problems. For instance, say my folder name is Photos, I just drag and drop the entire Photos folder onto the server. But if inside Photos i have a dog.jpg and cat.jpg file, there are also hidden files names ._dog.jpg and ._cat.jpg. it's those two hidden files that are causing problems when people go to work with that folder.is it something in OSX I need to change?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm getting HUGE files on my secondary hard drive, and i think they are because i designated it as my primary scratch disk. the size of the files are from 175,000kb-245,000kb. an example of the file name is "Photoshop Temp3347028". can someone tell me what these are, and if i need them all? i'm sure i can delete at least some of them, but i just wanted to make sure before i go messing anything up. does it seem normal to have these files? my system is a bit unstable, and sometimes my computer crashes when using photoshop and i have other programs open. i have 1 gig of ram, but it crashes nevertheless. i'm mentioning this because i was wondering if these files might have something to do with photoshop crashing my system.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities.Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
I work in a collaborative environment. I've upgraded to CS6, but those i work with are working in photoshop cs5.1. Will they have problems opening files i create or save in CS6?

The same relates to the .tif files. It's not corruption of the files, it's happening to every new-written file I try to move between computers. The problem appeared today, during the weekend everything was fine and I changed nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've sliced an image for publishing to the web and saved it as an HTML file using the Save for Web command (PSC3). It is my understanding that PS creates the images and pages according to the options set in the Save for Web dialog, however, when viewed, the page shows place holders for the slices, but only red X's for the images. The resulting HTML code references a number of GIF files located in an "images" folder, but I cannot find the location of that folder. Search does not show a folder, nor the referenced file names.
Am I mis-understanding the HTML option in the Save for Web process? If not, where did PS put the images it supposedly created from the slices?
As part of my workflow I import through Lightroom, then edit into Photoshop. This creates file 1 & 2 of 2 in my Lightroom. After editing all of the selected pictures into PSD files I routinely provide clients with smaller JPG's. I do this by opening the PSD flattening, shrinking, sharpening and "save as" into JPG's.
This does not create a third file in Lightroom and when I go to import the new JPG's Lightroom does not see them. I can open a Finder window ( I use a MAC) and see the files, but cannot get Lightroom to see them to import, then export to other media.
I'm having an odd problem in AI CS6, and I first want to try trashing my preferences file, but I can't find it (sounding dumb). When searching, I ran across references to user/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings/en_US/ but I can't find that either (sounding even dumber). I see users/ myname/ but no library/preferences. I try users/myname/roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS 6 settings /en_us/x64 but nothing there gives me a file folder or a file named preferences (can't feel any dumber). BTW, I am using the file options Show Hidden Files and Show Extensions, and I'm running PC Windows on a 64-bit machine.

Well, I was working on an illustration, just trying things here and there, and so I have many different layers of elements, some of them I want show, and some of them not (I don't want to delete them though, cause they may be useful later). At some point I realized that when I saved the file and went to see the preview (space bar) in its folder, the image had both hidden and shown elements.
So this is my doubt: is this normal? is there a way to show the preview with only the shown elements? Of course, when I export the file to .png, for example, I get the picture I should get (without the hidden stuff).
I have heard that the new Photoshop CC uses a new file system that is not compatible with older versions of Photoshop so you can only edit them in the new Cloud version of Photoshop CC.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
I'm using AutoCAD 2008.
I am trying to create a C# program to do batch Title Block attribute updates on selected AutoCAD drawings.
What I would like to do is keep the AutoCAD interface hidden, and just display my custom form which would allow the user to select the drawings that they wish to process.
And then the custom program would load each drawing behind the scenes and update the Title Block attributes, but the AutoCAD interface would remain hidden.
Is something like this possible with AutoCAD 2010? Are there any examples doing something like this (showing a custom form at startup, etc.)?
PS We do have newer versions of AutoCAD available if needed. Our engineers use AutoCAD 2010, but we could use a newer version for this standalone tool which would only be used by 1 or 2 people.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 100's of flat images that I have to chop up into 3 parts and save as individual pieces to then load into a separate piece of software.
My problem is that when I start the batch, the 3 new images it creates for each image are simply overwriting each other when saving.
The options for serial numbers etc in the destination field of batch seems to only work for the original file opened, not the 3 new images the action creates/saves.
I have PSP X2 on my laptop and it has developed a problem where it will not get through the initialization process. It comes up with the flash screen and after awhile the flash goes away and then nothing it just sits there and if you try to do anything you get a program not responding message and the only way out is to use the ctrl, alt, delete and exit manually. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it but this problem persists no matter what I do including going in and completely deleting everything corel from the hard drive.
how to completely flush the program and all the hidden files and registry entries so I can do a virgin install and start over without whatever glitch it has developed. There is an ini file or something that is staying on my computer and causing this problem.
autocad is not saving backup files automatically, only when i manually save are they updated [defeating the purpose of them]. in my options - open and save - i have my automatic saves set to 3 minutes and am also set to create backup copy with each save.

View 4 Replies View RelatedShooting with Canon 5DmkII DSLR, which provides 1920x1080 .MOV files at 29.97 fps. Data rate on the files is about 45Mbps, with a total bit rate marginally higher.I have been asked to output .MOV at 29.97, 1920x1080 progressive with PhotoJPEG compression at 90%, square pixels.
In Proj. Properties, I seem to need Microsoft AVI (MPEG doesn't allow 1920x1080 option). No compression, and have obviously kept 29.97 fps. Whether I want to perform non-square pixel rendering at this point, and haven't yet found any info on whether the camera shoots square or non-square pixels. Or I want frame-based or upper or lower fields first. I haven't found any explanation of what this means in the product documentation.
I've created an output template to give 1920x1080 at 29.97 fps, 24-bit colour. Again don't know whether to pick frame-based or upper or lower field first. Using PhotoJPEG compression (100% seems the only setting available, but that's OK).
In the final Create dialogue box Options, there is another chance to render non-square pixels (I'm assuming "no" here since I want square), as well as a checkbox for Smart Render, but again no explanation as to why I would need it.
So I've been practicing with 10sec clips to see what happens. With the above settings, the creation takes a couple of minutes and I have been able to generate a huge 1.6GB output file. Play is somewhat jerky since I don't think my computer can keep up. The input files are e.g. 233MB for 44sec, or about 5.3 MB/sec. Am I wrong to expect the output to be about the same size? Curiously, I have been able to generate 50MB files for two of the videos, and the rendering only took a couple of seconds. Unfortunately I have not been able to repeat this, but rather get these 1.6-1.7GB files as the routine. I have tried different input files with the same result.

I have tried to burn a disc with .mpg .mpg 2 .mp4 and .wmv formats and ALL have failed. I have created chapters in V Studio and they are not seen once i click on create disc and I have gone thru the grief of recreating the chapters
All of this has failed, at the end - 99% of burning. With the .wmv file, burning failed after 10 seconds. I have been able to sucessfully burn a disc using Windows burning software, so I know my drive is working fine, but really want to do this professionally (windows software created its own chapters and they are NOT where I want them and don't seem to be editable.
I have a presentation in less than 2 weeks, and need to have DVD ready before then

But some of the editing functions don't work on these files - specifically gradient filter, adjustment brush and HSL adjustments. I don't really want to have to save them as jpgs before editing them - that defeats the purpose of having saved them as dngs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAdmittedly, I am fairly new with Lightroom but I am totally at a loss to explain what has happened. I wanted to create a new catalog to move some files into. I went File>New Catalog and then in the "Create folder with new catalog" dialogue box, I typed in my new name and hit "save". Boom. Lightroom closed right down. When I opened it back up, all of my folders and catologs were gone. Nothing appears in the navigation section on the left side other than the headings, "Catalogs", "Folders", "Collections", etc and they are empty. In "My Computer" all of the folders are still there with the DNG files in place, but LR will not show them to me. why I can no longer access my catalogs?
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhen using LR3 to create DNG files from my RAW files, those files would show me thumbnails of my image in Windows Explorer. I am running Windows/7 (64) and have installed a CODEC from "Fast Picture Viewer" that allows thumbnails from RAW & DNG files to be shown. It seems, however, that the thumbnails do not show for DNG's created with LR4.
To Remedy this I uninstalled the CODEC. Downloaded the most recent version and installed it but this did not fix the problem.
I then went to the user forum for the CODEC product and searched for my problem. I found a thread who's solution is to turn off "Embed Fast Load Data" when exporting to DNG and it fixes the problem. I tried this and indeed it did fix it. The responder went on to say ".....When this option is enabled the files created are no longer DNGs (just an undocumented private format of Adobe that no one else can read to this date)". This statement surprised me as it is counter to what I understand Adobe created DNG to be. Can I get some input on this comment as if true it is very troubling.
My second question is that I see where to turn off the "Embed Fast Load Data" in the LR Export module, but where do I do the same thing in the Import module when I'm selecting import mode "Copy to DNG"?
If indeed the DNG files created by LR4 are proper DNG files and this CODEC is just flawed in some way, any better way to allow image thumbnails to be shown in Windows Explorer?
Unfortunately, in my project which includes HD files, proxy files are not created automatically after capturing, even the "create proxy files" is checked. So to get the proxy files, I have to select all the clips in the timeline and right click to check "create proxy files". What I have to do in order to get automatically the proxy files.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwe are a large manufacturing organisation and currently are using Inventor 2014 for our product design and day to day production drawing. We purchased Inventor 2014 recently for its BIM transfer capabilities. It would appear however that we can only view the outcome of the transferred files fron Inventor within Revit its self.
As we do not require Revit for any production work, purchasing a Revit licence is not an option. I recently downloaded the trial version of Revit Architecture to review the transfer files but the trial licence is now ready to expire.
