Photoshop :: Extract Image File Metadata?

Dec 19, 2012

I'm transcribing some of the metadata from image files to build a simple catalog.  Included are things like dimensions, resolution, and photo date.  Is there a way to extract this data other than manually?

Photoshop :: How To Extract Image From JPG File

Sep 5, 2013

Attached is a .JPG I would like to modify.  I have many drawing like this one that we would like to make into a catalogue.

I would like to make all theses doors the same image size with the a square transparent background.

I have figured out how to remove the background however when I try to adjust my image size it is still adjusting my canvas size.

What I have been trying to do is have a transparent background layer with the door image on a separate layer but I'm not having any luck.

I'm new to PS so my knowledge is limited.  I'm using the CS4 extended version.

Lightroom :: How To Extract Parts Of EXIF Metadata To Use In Smart Collection

Dec 14, 2012

I want to aggregate all of the images I've captured by Capture Month and identify those images that were scanned or have no Capture Date.  This question actually attempts to open the door for read access to all of the image metadata and the ability to store some of it in user-identified fields which, somehow, the user will be able to populate.

So - if the date fields (i.e. DateTime Original, DateTime Captured, DateTime Modified ) were broken down into, for example using DateTime Original:  Original Year-YYYY, Original Month-MM, Original Day-DD.  It may be possible to do this with a redefination of the schema used to define each of the fields.?

GIMP :: Image Metadata Is Not Saved In File / Properties Dialog?

Mar 3, 2013

I'm running version 2.8.2 of GIMP on Kubuntu 12.10. I do not remember which version I was running before this one, but it was possible to press ALT + ENTER to open a properties dialog where one could enter / modify a description for the opened image. ALT + ENTER does nothing in this new version, but I think that I should enter the File -> Properties dialog to do this, right? The dialog is different and it is in a different menu now, but it seems here is where we should enter / edit image metadata. However, nothing that I fill in this dialog is saved. I enter the title, author, description, etc., but when I click OK the info is discarded without warning. If I go back to the File -> Properties dialog right after confirming the data I had just entered, the dialog is blank again. Is this a bug or am I looking for the enter / edit metadata functionality in the wrong place?

Have to deepatch (cut out) a horse from this pic, but it's hairs are everywhere. Also, the background doesn't differ much.
Tried through channels, even quick mask pro 4.1, really run out of ideas, you tube can't help, no photoshop users that I asked can help. Can you, please?

Attached file is too small for you to see the details, don't know how to upload bigger image.

Photoshop :: How To Extract Gray From Image

May 8, 2012

In Photofiltre, it's dead easy to extract the gray tones from an image to boost up the colours. It's often better than just increasing saturation or so.

But since I have Photoshop CS3 I'd like to do it there. It must be possible to do something like that too. But how?? I just can't find the right way?

Photoshop :: Extract Image From Background

I know this is a simple task if you understand masks better than I do but I normally slave away with max zoom and an eraser until I get the image extracted the way it looks good. Unfortunately for this image its going to be blown up and when I look at it the girl appears like she has been eaten around on all edges by termites.

Photoshop :: Successfully 'extract' An Image

Feb 18, 2003

Say I want to extract a photo of someone and put it onto another picture with all of their strands of hair intact etc - I know you are meant to extract the image in 'extract' and do the highliting and filling etc, but I find this never works. I always get left with a jagged, bitmapped edge, no matter how much I play with the tolerance thingy.

Can someone tell me a definitive way of cutting a face out, as if it were Dirk Benedict on the cover of Corvette Monthly with all of his beautiful strands of hair on show?

Photoshop :: Changing Metadata (JPG File In CS5)

Mar 25, 2012

- I open a .jpg file in PS CS5,
- I change one or several metadata, using the XMP embedded panel (File -> Information)
- I apply the changes,
- I close the file.

At this moment, PS ask me if I want to save the changes. Again... A little bit curious, because I already did it, but... I agree. Then, PS ask me now to choice the jpg quality (you know, the scale from 1 to 12). But changing metadata never affect the image itself... So, it should be useless to do that (of course, I made no modification on the picture itself).

I must say that (if I remember well) sometimes I was able to close the file directly.

Photoshop :: Ignores Metadata On A Nikon Raw Image?

Feb 25, 2012

Seems that Photoshop ignores metadata on a Nikon raw image if the Metadata is written on the camera and not in PS.  The powers to be suggest is that you duplicate the effort by writting  this metadata in PS.  Have a problem with that as why duplicate the work/effort if it is already written on the camera at the time the image is taken.  Specifically on my camera I have th eimage comment field as 'Image taken by my name'.  When I view a Nikon raw iamge via PS I don't see this field as well as approx 8 other metadata fields/categories.  If I use teh Nikon viewing software IViewNX) I see all the metadata.  Heres the kicker - if I save the raw image under PS it (PS) will remove all the metadata it doesn't see or know about.

Photoshop :: High-Res Image - Use Blending Mode To Extract

Aug 27, 2011

I have a high-res image of a model of a ship that I'm looking to put on top of a seascape image. The pictures below are a lot smaller and cropped then actual.

Here is a crop of the image of the ship, luckily it's on a plain background and nothing more complicated: After much trial and error, Fluid Mask did a decent job and I'm on the fence about saying useable:

However, this is a thought I had when scrolling through blending modes on the ship's layer. Here it is on Multiply:

Obviously it's too dark, but in terms of the edges on the small details like the ropes, it looks great. I got thinking about somehow automating Photoshop to recognize wherever a pixel is different from the background layer below it, Photoshop would be able to tell where the image is and where the background is, since Multiply removes any white but leaves other colors (albeit darker).

I don't know how this would be done if it's possible at all, I'm guessing with some sort of code made into a plugin or something.

Photoshop :: Picture With Backlit Image -- Extract / Adjust

Dec 29, 2004

I have an image where there is an object in the foreground that is in the shade and the background that is bright. I want to correct the foreground image. I have tried to extract the foreground image and then drag the original picture onto the extracted one. I assumed that the I could somehow have the extracted image on its own layer and adjust it. When I do that either in the extracted file (before moving the original picture back onto it) or when I try to select its layer in the resultant picture, the entire picture -- foreground and background -- all layers, seem to get adjusted. How can I isolate the extracted image / layer to be able to adjust just that image.

Photoshop :: Lost Metadata In File After Attempt To

Apr 18, 2009

I open RAW pictures from my Canon 5D (but same happens with pictures from Canon 10D) in PS and than try to save them as JPGs, I loose majority of my metadata from the files (after right click on filename in. I can still Windows Explorer and clicking Properties or simply adding additional columns in Win XP Windows Explorer detailed view.So same picture, without any editing at all, just opened as RAW file (which it is a CR2 or CRW file in Canons), and then saved as JPG, suddenly does not show the date of picture taken, focal length or exposure time are all gone. Does not matter if I try Properties in Win Explorer or say Properties in MS Office Picture Manager. Was trying to look for any setting in PS that would set the ability to save or abandon saving of this type of information in JPG file but could not find anything of this kind. What is interesting I went back to my pictures I have saved from RAW to JPG using same PS years ago, and I this was not a problem. Everything was saving OK.So in summary:1. This would not be a problem related to camera (it is unlikely that same problem would occur on two different models at the same time - even though both are Canons)2. It must be a way to force the Photoshop to do that, I f I was able to do it successfully, almost without knowing, before. Therefore, I would think that either:1. There is some set of defaults somewhere in PS that I have accidently turned off causing my PS not to save this metadata properly or in full, or2. That it came as some kind of bug with some of the updates to PS CS3 that I was getting over last year from Adobe.

Photoshop Elements :: Save Metadata To File?

Feb 5, 2013

I am finding that going to File>Save Metadata to File is not really needed.  I changed some metadata like the caption and notes and I don't choose that option in the menu. I then examine the file in Photoshop, and the metadata has already been updated. The metadata gets updated by itself for JPG files, and the XMP file in RAW files gets updated too without me doing anything extra.

What is Save Metadata to File good for then? Am I missing something?
