I have Photoshop 11 and wish to put the star ratings to my photos. They are presently not being shown. I followed the video which states to go into View and click on Details. I did this and all the showed up was the date
View 1 RepliesWhen I import files from Photo Mechanic to LR4.1 the star ratingsfro PM show in LR, but when I then export again from LR the star ratings are gone in Photo Mechanic. Obviously I need to tag somewhere in the prefs, problem is I can't find where?

1. What metadata fields should I consider using that may be useful in the future? None of my images currently have metadata applied.
2. Will star ratings and labels from Bridge show up in LR?
When I use the ratings filter with the CIB catalog of photos it works fine. But when I apply it to my own it doesn't. I follow the exact procedures but it doesn't seem to work the same way. After I have applied some star ratings to my photos, and I have all media displayed in the media browser, I go up to the filter by ratings stars and click on one of them (for example, I click on five stars). I would expect that the browser would eliminate all the images except those with a five star rating. This is how it works with the CIB images. But with mine, only some of the displayed images are eliminated, and the ones with five stars are scattered amongst the remaining images. For all of them that did not meet the criteria, there is a small circular badge with a slash line through it at the upper right of the thumbnail. I cannot get this function to perform correctly despite numerous attempts. The only thing I see as different from the CIB work is that I have stacked my photos into 5 stacks. But when I try using the ratings filter, I have expanded the stacks to show all 116 images.

I also upgraded from Vista to Microsoft 7. Do I need to uninstall the Vista version and reinstall, or is there a different solution?
I was watching a tutorial about PSE 11 and then noticed that under my photo in the organizer I do not see the date, time, & star option. Do I have to turn something on to see them. Also I do not see a place under the photos to put a caption. I'm using a mac book pro.

I have over 200K images that have already been tagged, and I need granularity in searching for items. I normally search in a cumulative fashion, where each criterion I add further reduces the number of images that meet all the criteria. Does PSE11 have a "meets ALL criteria" option, or rather, does it only display results that "meet ANY criteria" that I may have specified? In other words, the more criteria I add, the less images I should see that are filtered based on ALL the criteria.

Selecting individual file types doesn't work for me much when, apart from .jpgs and .tiffs, I don't know all the file types PSE 10 can open and I want it to open everything it can. View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the bottom of the Organizer screens it always says "972 items dated etc". But then depending on something I do, possibly with tags, it sometimes shows "36 items not shown" for a total of 1008. Note the View does not show any hidden files. One thing I noticed is when I put just one photo in an album and click on the album it will say "1 item found 1007 items not found for a total of 1008.
What concerns me most is that I have 36 photos floating around somewhere that I can't see.
Can you display the order in which images are shown within an album, (like you could in PE10), other than the stupid Oldest and newest that you now get with PE11?

View 5 Replies View RelatedA lot of pictures of my collection do have GPS-data in EXIF-header. Sometimes they are shown on the world-map, sometimes not. In list-view they are never shown. The list-view knows only locations, which are matched with PSE.
The EXIF-input was made by two different tools (Holux GPS Software and Geosetter 3.4.16).
How can I get the list-view for the saved files without using PSE adding location?
I am in the process of copying my old pictures to my new computer, and it seems like the ratings info I assigned in Bridge didn't go with them. Where are the files that has this information as well as all of the non-destructive editing in Camera Raw (or is the editing part saved in the raw file?)

I can use the masks that are hidden (shown with black screen) and apply them with the white brush, but I cant get white or shown masks to be taken off with the black brush. Sometimes, not always I have trouble adjusting the opacity of white masks. I was playing around with actions I downloaded and after applying three actions to a photo, elements froze on me. I read about trashing preferences, I dont know what that does or means but I tried to hit cntrol alt shift when photoshop was opening and nothing happened. When it first opens it shows I can install the new inspiration browser ( i dont know what that is either) thinking it was a required update I tried to update and it gave me an error message, something about the installer has been mis-configured.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am noticing some issues in Lightroom 4.3. How to have picks and ratings appear in the filmstrip. I have this selected in Preferences and previously was able to see picks and ratings.
I am unable to move the photo within the crop (I don't see the "hand".)
I use a iMac to capture and tag photos as finalist. I then transfer the folder to another machine for editing. When I add the images into the editing machines lightroom, all the tags, ratings, stars, colors don't show up.
When I was on Lr3 on both machines, these tags transferred. Even when a client used Bridge, they showed up. Now, not so much.

This is true of both machines.
I recently copied all Lightroom folders/catalog /etc to a larger hard drive. Upon opening Lightroom for the first time since the move, almost all of the edits made in Photoshop and/or 3rd Party programs are gone and with them the ratings for those photos. Where are these photos/ratings stored and are they retrievable. Again, I copied ALL folders and catalog to the new drive.

Under View Options, Show Ratings and Picks is checked. The photos definitely have ratings and filtering by ratings is working. Perhaps I accidentally turned something off. how to make them visible again?

On reimporting them back into Lightroom, this was performed quickly as if perhaps they were remembered, however all ratings and edits remained lost. Do you know if it is possible to recover these?

I tried to export them to an external hard drive, so I could free up space on my computer, but I discovered that copies of those photos already existed on the external HD. I selected the "overwrite" option, but the ratings and keywords didn't copy over from the computer versions to the hard drive versions. Is there a way of doing that?
View 5 Replies View Related1. I have a number of folders where the photo's where stored on my Mac HD. I then moved these folders to a new location on an external HD. I re-imported these folders into Lightroom and they showed up under the external HD. However, all of the colour coding/ratings and even the adustments I have made to the images are not visibible. Is there a way I can correct this?
2. I've also imported a number of folders to Lightroom that were originally colour coded/rated in Bridge and edited in Adobe Camera RAW. Again the edits that I made to these and the ratings info is not visible. Is there a way I can change this?
3. Is there a way to search for duplicates within a particular folder or within the whole library?
