Using Elements 11, cannot get the Star Rating bar to appear under images imported from file, although the intro to the program shows this as happening automatically. I have also created an account, but the question does not seem to be get a post.
View 2 RepliesI currently use a different photo organizer and wish to migrate to PSE11, provided it meets this criteria. I have over 200K images that have already been tagged, and I need granularity in searching for items. I normally search in a cumulative fashion, where each criterion I add further reduces the number of images that meet all the criteria. Does PSE11 have a "meets ALL criteria" option, or rather, does it only display results that "meet ANY criteria" that I may have specified? In other words, the more criteria I add, the less images I should see that are filtered based on ALL the criteria.

For instance,
>= 4 stars works as expected
>= 3 stars displays 'no photos match the filter'
It affects my entire catalogue and is fundamental to my workflow.
It seems to affect both my laptop and my desktop computer.
How do I get the flag/star rating system back in the bottom left of LR4?

When I tried synchronizing the folder after adding the file, LR does not even see this new file.
The file was created in Photoshop Elements using the Save for Web command (GIF format).
In Lightroom 4.1 when rating (flags, stars or colors) a selected group of images all images selected will have the same flag applied. For instance if I select 10 images to view in the survey mode to compare and select 1 to be flagged as rejected all 10 will be flagged rejected, not just the one. Is there a way to turn this off to select a group of images and flag each differently?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find out if there are limitations in PSE's Organizer that make it pointless for people with large numbers of photos to bother buying PSE 12.
I imported 1050 JPEGs into My Catalog without problem using PSE 8 but all subsequent imported JPEGs show up as Thumbnails that are Opague with an Hourglass design on them. This makes organizing these images impossibly slow. When I created a new catalog, imported thumbnails were visible again.
But what to do about the 1050 images in the original catalog? I've got two thick "how-to" books and they say nothing about copying images from one catalog to another.
More important, to have confidence to buy PSE 12, I need to know what caused the 'invisible' thumbnails in the original catalog and is it something that could happen again after another two years of scanning, importing and trying to organize?
PSE11 organizer is apparently "unsorting" images imported from disc. Consequently sequences of pics are completely mixed up. Can it be corrected?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit a photo in Photoshop from Lightroom (ie. Edit in -> Edit in Adobe Photoshop CC...) the photo opens as normal, I edit the photo as normal, and when I hit save, it saves and the edited photo appears in Lightroom - all as per normal. BUT, the edited photo doesn't have the rating and labelling applied to it that the non-edited photo has. So, for example, if I have given a photo a 3 star rating in Lightroom, and then edit and save that photo in Photoshop, when the edited photo appears in Lightroom, it doesn't have a star rating anymore).
I've used Lightroom and Photoshop together for 6 years and never had a problem with this - the photo has always reappeared in Lightroom with the same ratings and labels that the non-edited photo has.
This is a real problem to use when we've filtered a bunch of photos to edit. Everytime we edit one we have to go back to Lightroom, turn off the filtering, find the edited photo, add the ratings, turn the filtering back on and go to the next photo - a real pain when we have 50 images to do in a row..
I can only guess this is a bug with either the new Lightroom, or new Photoshop CC (guessing it is actually a Photoshop problem as I think it appeared around the time it was updated by CC, but I could be wrong).
I tried to do it according to the instructions in the help menu, however PSE 11 does not even recognize the file format.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I got X3 I checked out the photo Organiser hoping it would be an all in one image solution for me. It would not recognise tags I had added in Win Photo Gallery and because I had heaps of pics I decided to stick with Photo Gallery. That leaves me with another problem with ratings though. If I have a star rating on a file in Photo Gallery and open the file in PSPPX3 the rating disappears once I save the file again - even if I have made no alterations. Frustrating - I have to remember to re-rate any files I process. The rating is preserved in the PSP Organiser but has gone from Photo Gallery.
It is also interesting that whereas tags added in PSPPX3 are recognised in Photo Gallery, the converse is not the case.
I don't mind not using PSP Organiser, I bought the program for the editor, but I wish PSP would not interfere with the things other organisers are using. I presume it is part of the EXIF data.
I am in LR3 and I want to be abale to see file size, rating, file name, exposure details all at once. I can only make 2 show at one time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with editing RAW images from my Nikon D3000. I've downloaded the DNG Converter from Adobe and converted all my files to DNG. However, when I opened them on Photoshop Elements 4.0, they turned out VERY grainy! (Even though all the shots are clear when viewed on my camera)
Also, I could not save my files as JPG (After converting them to DNG). The only options were TIFF, PNG, JPF (?).
When I scan old film to create digital files, I put them in a folder with the file name ending in a sequential number ( 1, 2, 3, etc). Sometimes, when I open the folder to work on the image files in Photoshop Elements 11, I find the files list in the proper sequential order, but other times, especially when I have recently had some files open, the files will be listed in the order that I last opened them. How can I force PSE 11 to always list them in numerical order upon opening the folder?

IN PE-8 how can I display two panes - one pane containing the image file names contained in a folder and the other pane which displays the image of the file name selected?
