I am in LR3 and I want to be abale to see file size, rating, file name, exposure details all at once. I can only make 2 show at one time.
View 1 RepliesWhen I edit a photo in Photoshop from Lightroom (ie. Edit in -> Edit in Adobe Photoshop CC...) the photo opens as normal, I edit the photo as normal, and when I hit save, it saves and the edited photo appears in Lightroom - all as per normal. BUT, the edited photo doesn't have the rating and labelling applied to it that the non-edited photo has. So, for example, if I have given a photo a 3 star rating in Lightroom, and then edit and save that photo in Photoshop, when the edited photo appears in Lightroom, it doesn't have a star rating anymore).
I've used Lightroom and Photoshop together for 6 years and never had a problem with this - the photo has always reappeared in Lightroom with the same ratings and labels that the non-edited photo has.
This is a real problem to use when we've filtered a bunch of photos to edit. Everytime we edit one we have to go back to Lightroom, turn off the filtering, find the edited photo, add the ratings, turn the filtering back on and go to the next photo - a real pain when we have 50 images to do in a row..
I can only guess this is a bug with either the new Lightroom, or new Photoshop CC (guessing it is actually a Photoshop problem as I think it appeared around the time it was updated by CC, but I could be wrong).
In Photoshop Elements 8 i want to see the file names under the pictures when viewing thumbnails not just the date. Is this possible?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen using LR3 to create DNG files from my RAW files, those files would show me thumbnails of my image in Windows Explorer. I am running Windows/7 (64) and have installed a CODEC from "Fast Picture Viewer" that allows thumbnails from RAW & DNG files to be shown. It seems, however, that the thumbnails do not show for DNG's created with LR4.
To Remedy this I uninstalled the CODEC. Downloaded the most recent version and installed it but this did not fix the problem.
I then went to the user forum for the CODEC product and searched for my problem. I found a thread who's solution is to turn off "Embed Fast Load Data" when exporting to DNG and it fixes the problem. I tried this and indeed it did fix it. The responder went on to say ".....When this option is enabled the files created are no longer DNGs (just an undocumented private format of Adobe that no one else can read to this date)". This statement surprised me as it is counter to what I understand Adobe created DNG to be. Can I get some input on this comment as if true it is very troubling.
My second question is that I see where to turn off the "Embed Fast Load Data" in the LR Export module, but where do I do the same thing in the Import module when I'm selecting import mode "Copy to DNG"?
If indeed the DNG files created by LR4 are proper DNG files and this CODEC is just flawed in some way, any better way to allow image thumbnails to be shown in Windows Explorer?
Does exposure slider exactly simulate the photographic exposure?

When I open the import window I don't get any thumbnails (pic below), but when i click on the images, I can see them fine. After I choose the file location and press import, it hangs up and never finishes. The picture of the Copy and Import Photos is attached too.

1) The phots are all 6x6 square
2) The photos are all TIFF format
3) The photos are of similar size approximately 136 MB each

So, say I want to just see four star photos, it's showing me four and five star photos. Is there any way to set the rating function to only show those star rated photos I want to see?

I give image 4 stars and a color when I'm done working on them in the Development module.After opening the Preset and using some of them, as soon as I was giving a star rating to an image, I was automatically brought to the next image - which is not the normal behavior of Lightroom.So, I close the Presets "module" and re-clicked my Collection and then it stopped. It's hard to re-create a problem like this. But this is the only thing I've done differently and I've been retouching over 500 images without encountering this problem before.I'm working with the latest Lightroom 5 version.

My picture’s original size was 108.2 MB in tiff. After I developed my photo in Lightroom and exported the new image, the file decrease to 50MB in tiff. Why did Lightroom decrease the file size to more than half the original size? Is there a way to increase the exportation file size to that I may develop a large size print?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I got X3 I checked out the photo Organiser hoping it would be an all in one image solution for me. It would not recognise tags I had added in Win Photo Gallery and because I had heaps of pics I decided to stick with Photo Gallery. That leaves me with another problem with ratings though. If I have a star rating on a file in Photo Gallery and open the file in PSPPX3 the rating disappears once I save the file again - even if I have made no alterations. Frustrating - I have to remember to re-rate any files I process. The rating is preserved in the PSP Organiser but has gone from Photo Gallery.
It is also interesting that whereas tags added in PSPPX3 are recognised in Photo Gallery, the converse is not the case.
I don't mind not using PSP Organiser, I bought the program for the editor, but I wish PSP would not interfere with the things other organisers are using. I presume it is part of the EXIF data.
Using Elements 11, cannot get the Star Rating bar to appear under images imported from file, although the intro to the program shows this as happening automatically. I have also created an account, but the question does not seem to be get a post.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI couldn't see the rating stars under each photo in Survey mode; I only see the flag status. Now, it's probably something I did, like hitting a shortkey or something... but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to bring back that visual information. After searching online + fiddling around with the settings.
PS. Lightroom 4.3RC (why 4.3 RC, because I'm one of those plagged with a super slow Lightroom in develop mode, especially with my D800 files! I'm crossing my fingers with each RC update that the software will be faster... )
Is there any way of filtering files by rating BEFORE importing them from my camera to my PC? I can sort them once they have been imported but it would save a lot of hard drive space if I could only import the ones I rated before importing.

When I was finished I went to the grid view in the library module and clicked on the filters, filter by rating, greater than or equal to one star (my images were in a collection by the way). View 4 Replies View RelatedThe videos are there, but I just get the hourglass picture. If I doubleclick them, they'll play just fine. But I have no way of quickly scanning thumbnails to pick a movie.
While we're on the subject of thumbnails, I can only see thumbnails for my pictures if I make them larger. If I try to make the thumbnails smaller, they just won't ever show up. I have about 1800 video clips (very few longer than 1 minute), and about 10,000 pictures.
Once I have tagged and/or rated a picture in Elements 10, I would like for the information to also be saved to the original file - is there a way to do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to Lightroom 5 I've been seeing this nasty bug pretty much all the time. In the library module choose a folder where a bunch of photos already have ratings. Select the attribute filter and choose to only display photos with a rating of exactly 4. Now open one of the photos and switch to the develop module. Then click to change the rating to 5. Now go back to the library module, clear the filter and look at what filter the photo actually got. For me it gets changed to a rating of 1!
This was tested on Lightroom 5.0 on Windows.
I have always sorted my photos by using star ratings but all of a sudden the filter has stopped working properly.
For instance,
>= 4 stars works as expected
>= 3 stars displays 'no photos match the filter'
It affects my entire catalogue and is fundamental to my workflow.
It seems to affect both my laptop and my desktop computer.
I'm having some troubles viewing all my video thumbnails.
I have different kinds of video clips in my organizer, but it's only the MOV-files that won’t show. The funny thing is, that it’s only some of the MOV-files that doesn’t show up others do!
All the video clips are recorded with an iPhone, and imported to the catalog at the same time.Even though I can’t see the thumbnail, I can still playback the video clip.
I've already tried the following:
- Repairing the catalog
- Optimizing the catalog
- Restoring the preferences to default settings
- Renaming the "status.dat" and "psa.prf" files
My specifications:
- Installed Adobe software - Photoshop Elements 12 + Premiere Elements 12
- Catalog containing appx. 17.000 photos and 400 video clips
- Windows 7 64 bit
When I move folders between catalogs how do I save my rating system ( flags, stars etc.) Also how can I move a collection between catalogs?
