Reinstalled PSE 5.0 on new computer running Windows 7. Downloaded the service pack for PSE 5.0.2. Read that I needed to adjust the compatibility to Windows XP (service pack 3) PSE opens, but only as far as "Reading Preferences," then never goes farther.

The application is there in the background but everything is greyed out. I am not sure I have ever filld inal the registration details, I have just always pressed the 'later' button.
I have windows 8 x64I uninstalled and re-installed from my Web Premium DVD's This started happening recently and was working fine for quite a while To fix it i tried:
ctrl+alt+shift to reste prefrences - still crashes, uninstalled and re-installed (just photoshop x64 & acrobat 9). Searching the forums but a lot of the links appear to be dead.
I have CS3 10.0.1, Vista Ultimate and 3Gb of ram. Until a week ago, CS3 was running fine - quick start up, quick file opening, quick filters. However, for reasons I can't fathom, it has started to take around 30 seconds on "Reading Preferences" during start up, and around 40 seconds to open a 22.8Mb file (with a "Progress/Reading Photoshop Format..." dialogue and progress box).
I have no network printer and have deleted and reset my "Preferences". Made no difference.
I have not installed any soft- or hard-ware which I can imagine conflicting with CS3 in some way.
how to get back my normal CS3 performance.
when I fire up PS the opening splash window only took about 15 - 20 seconds to cycle through and PS opens up. Since then it takes a very long time to open. The "Reading Preferences" takes nearly a minute or so then all the other race through and PS opens. Why would the "Reading Preferences" take no time at all one day then the next take over a minute? I haven't changed anything to my knowledge in the Preferences tabs to cause this.

The start-up screen shows "reading preferences" for 2 - 3 minutes most times. I've re-set and trashed my preferences file with no change. I've also removed all plug-ins, also with no change. Once PS is up, it works normally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've been running the cloud version of CS6 for a few months, and in the last several weeks, Photoshop has become incredibly slow, and often gets stuck on the "reading preferences" at startup.
I went through all the suggested things, (got rid of bad fonts, downloaded brushes as they were INCREDIBLY slow, and reset some settings to enhance speed), but it's barely made a dent. I already contacted Apple support, and they said it's only an issue with the Adobe software. Also, it reallllllly doesn't like to open .ai documents in psd, which is a problem for me as I need to work in both every day.
For about a week now i can't open (use) my CS2 because it always crashes when it is "Reading Prefferences" Now i think i have tried everything. i have completely un(re)installed several times but it stays the same problem. i have also tried to instal it on another hard disk but still no luck.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been using PSE 8 for a while, and recently installed the version 11 trial copy to see if it made sense for me to upgrade. Everything seemed to be going OK (PSE 11 converted my PSE 8 catalog OK etc.) until tonight.
A few minutes ago, I tried to open up version 11 and it gave me an error (#6) that said there was a configuration error and I needed to uninstall and reinstall version 11.
So, I uninstalled version 11. That seemed to go fine.
However, before trying to re-install version 11 I decided to play around with version 8 for a while. Only now, every time I double-click on my PSE version 8 shortcuts (one for the main program, one for the organizer), I get a screen asking me to agree to the Adobe software license. I click "accept" but then the license screen just goes away and the program never starts.
How can I get past the "sign in pop up" that keeps coming up when I amy trying to make collages? I was able to make collages last week.

Disc is good, no scratches, used for install plenty of times in the past. Every time I insert it into the laptop, it takes the disc and thinks on it, like it's going to load. But then just ends up spitting the cd back out.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have looked everywhere around the net to find some info about the Camera Raw preferences dialogue box in Elements 11 and what the settings mean/change. All I can find is 'Preferences - allows you to change the Camera Raw preferences'. There must be a reason for having a preferences dialogue icon/window in Camera Raw, the button is right up there next to the rotate buttons.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Elements 9, running on a Windows 7 64 bit PC.
In organiser if I select Preferences from the Edit menu or by pressing Ctrl-K a small window comes up saying loading, but the preferences window never shows. Windows Task Manager shows that Elements is still running and the processor load is about 15-25% and so it would seem it is trying to do something. So far I've left the machine for over an hour and the loading window never goes. The only way to close Elements is to use End Task in Windows Task Manager.
I've tried deleting the preferences file in /Users/User name/roaming/Adobe/Elements Organiser/9.0/Organiser/. I've also tried uninstalling, deleting all of the Adobe Elements files within the roaming profile and reinstalling. Neither of which has worked. Apart from this Elements works OK and I can access the Preferences in the Elements Edit programme.
I have just installed the latest update and this made no difference.
I could definitely access the preferences window when the software was first installed. The only thing I can think of that has changed (apart from the usual Windows updates) was the installation of a trial copy of Lightroom 3, which I've now uninstalled.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI subscribe to Digital Photo magazine, from England. They supply a CD with every issue. I attempted to read in a .jpg file directly in the PSE 12 editor. PSE consistently crashes as soon as I start the process. I tried the same process on PSE 10 and 11 with the same result. I then took the CD on my Windows 7 system, which also has the save versions of PSE. On Windows 7 the process works without a hitch.
Workaround. If I import the file from the CD while in PSE 12 organizer, highlight the file and then invoke the editor, it works fine. I do NOT want to use a workaround. This should work AND in no event should the system crash.
NOTE: I have submitted the crash reports to both Apple and Adobe without getting any response.
I just bought elements11, installed it and imported photos from folders, when i wanted to check/change preferences the program hung up 'loading' . my computer meets system requirments according to the box.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to save my work in PSE 9 it crashes every time. I've removed preferences by pressing shift, control, option after launching the program. The window came up if I wanted to remove preference I clicked yes. Restarted my computer and relaunched PSE9 still crashes.
I've also removed the twain plug in this way: Program FilesAdobePhotoshop Elements 9Locales<locale>Plug-InsImport-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
I dragged it twice to my desktop but the file still seemed to remain in place (even though I had 2 new copies on my desk top), so the third time I did it, I clicked it and moved it to trash. Again, I restarted my computer and relaunched PSE9 and it still crashes when trying to save.
When I run PSE 11 Organizer and try and edit the Prefences a DOS screen flashes and the program crashes.

I go to "my computer" to check the "drive" folder and it never appears for me to click on it and open it. It also doesn't automatically load which I have turned on. I have verified it is a DVD drive.
