Photoshop Elements :: 12 Crashes When Reading In File From CD While Using Mavericks?
Dec 10, 2013
I subscribe to Digital Photo magazine, from England. They supply a CD with every issue. I attempted to read in a .jpg file directly in the PSE 12 editor. PSE consistently crashes as soon as I start the process. I tried the same process on PSE 10 and 11 with the same result. I then took the CD on my Windows 7 system, which also has the save versions of PSE. On Windows 7 the process works without a hitch.
Workaround. If I import the file from the CD while in PSE 12 organizer, highlight the file and then invoke the editor, it works fine. I do NOT want to use a workaround. This should work AND in no event should the system crash.
NOTE: I have submitted the crash reports to both Apple and Adobe without getting any response.
I have two Macs, a late 2012 MacBook Pro and a 2009 iMac, both installed with Creative Cloud and running Mavericks. The MBP is doing great. No issues whatsoever, and it is my main machine these days.
However, Photoshop CC is crashing on launch on the iMac every time. I can't use it at all there. Here is the top of the crash log, leaving off everything from "Binary Images:" on...
Process: Adobe Photoshop CC [2380] Path: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC/Adobe Photoshop CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop CC Identifier: com.adobe.Photoshop Version: 14.1.2 (14.1.2.427) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [168] Responsible: Adobe Photoshop CC [2380] User ID: 501 [code]....
i updated my work computer to the new Maverick OS update. Everytime i open an After Effects project up over the server it crashes. I never had this problem before and until after i installed Mavericks.
Slowly but surely my OSX environment is being extricated from the absolute lunacy that every file used by any application had to reside on the machine's root drive. Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, created a $USER/Documents/Adobe subdirectory where it stored my profile information. I attempted to move that profile information to a network drive and to use an alias to point $USER/Documents/Adobe at $NETWORK_DRIVE/Adobe. Now Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes on startup. I have attempted to trash my preference (deleting the 7.0 subfolder of the Adobe/Premiere Pro folder).
I have windows 8 x64I uninstalled and re-installed from my Web Premium DVD's This started happening recently and was working fine for quite a while To fix it i tried:
ctrl+alt+shift to reste prefrences - still crashes, uninstalled and re-installed (just photoshop x64 & acrobat 9). Searching the forums but a lot of the links appear to be dead.
Well yesterday, I was using photoshop and everything was just fine but when I tried to open it today it began to freeze after the startup where it tells you what its loading...'Reading Text Global Resources' and i've looked around here in different topics and posts and i tried doing ALT+CTRL+SHIFT but that didnt work at all for me..
the whole thing just stops responding if i try to click into it and now its driving me crazy since I have a template due for a client of mine today!
The problem is every time a file dialog is displayed (like, file/open or file/place) I immediately termintaes with the "Could not complete your request because of a program error." message. Nothing in the logs or console messages.I contacted support, but they were apparently reading from a script - they had me change /Library (not ~/Library, but /Library) to global read+write - NFW. I did it temporarily and it still didn't work.
I believe my issue stems fromt he fact that my user account was created years ago, back when the default user group (its gid) = its uid. When I look in Users/Groups, it shows "staff" (which is gid 20), but the directory (and I assume its execute permissions) is set to 502, same as the uid. I tried to change the directory group ownership (the entire /User tree for this user) to gid 20, but it still wouldn;t work.
Since it works for the other user (created in Mountain Lion), I assume it must be related to this legacy permissions situation, but I can;t figure out what I need to change. CC loads, and I can load a file from Lightroom, but it will not display the file dialog.
Not sure how this happened, but the top of my Elements 11 Organizer screen is off of the top of my desktop screen (OS Mavericks). I cannot resize or get to the minimize button to fix. I am stuck only seeing the bottom of the Organizer Screen. Organizer (which I use VERY OFTEN) is renedered useless until I can get a resolution to this.
Photoshop Elements 12 opens with the top portion of the window not available on my Mavericks desktop. Without access to the top bar of the window I'm unable to reposition the window. Rebooting the computer and re-starting the program doesn't reset its position. The top of the window is not visible on a secondary monitor either.
When I try to open a Photoshop file from both a dropdown (File > Open) or command O, the display window will stay open for a brief moment before closing.
On occasion I'll get the error *** -[_NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 39 beyond bounds [0 .. 38]
Other times the error will say Could not complete your request because of a program error.
Other time there is no message.
The computer I'm running is MacBook Pro with Retina display, 3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I just purchased and installed PS Elements 11 and it seems to be unable to read the .CR2 raw files from my Canon 6D although according to the website this camera is supported.
I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. It's been awhile since I've tried installing Photoshop Elements 6, but I am trying currently. Disc is good, no scratches, used for install plenty of times in the past. Every time I insert it into the laptop, it takes the disc and thinks on it, like it's going to load. But then just ends up spitting the cd back out.
because the specified color book cannot be found? The file is opening without any colors and as i am trying to set the file up to print, it is VITAL that i have colors.
I am trying to read JPEG files generated by Panorama Tools software into PS 7. Some are read with no problems and some files can not be opened by PS 7. In the later case the following error message is displayed: "Could not open file because of a problem parsing the JPEG data".
The problematic files are read and displayed with no problem by Windows pictures and fax viewer software.
Reinstalled PSE 5.0 on new computer running Windows 7. Downloaded the service pack for PSE 5.0.2. Read that I needed to adjust the compatibility to Windows XP (service pack 3) PSE opens, but only as far as "Reading Preferences," then never goes farther.
For the past three day I've been modeling a character for an animation im making, but now when ever i try to open the file in Maya, Maya stalls at reading file 99% and stops working.
I am not being able to open a .cdr file in Draw. Its about 1.16 gb, I know its big but I didnt realise it has become so big, it has 18 pages now. It was working fine till yesterday. but now when i am trying to open it a pop up comes showing error reading file. I am using x4 in a 32 bit windows 7 with 4 gb ram.I have tried opening in laptop with 64bit windows 7 4 gb ram, it opened till 80% adn then a different error came which said - invalid object. I need to retrieve the artwork, i have worked on it for more than 3 weeks. The back up file also shows the same.
I know how to read the BMP thumbnail (there are some code here: [URL], but in 2013, the BMP has been replaced by a PNG. The type seems to be 6 instead of 2 (BMP), but I don't know how the PNG is stored (I've not made further investigation).
I am running 2011 c3d on windows 7 with 15 GB of ram.
An error message I get is "reading triangles from file" and the program locks up to where you need to do a reset on the computer. I have an existing ground surface that is data shortcut into the file I am opening when I get this error. The existing ground surface is about 5 mg in size. I'm not sure if this is causing the error.
