May 29, 2013Is the vibrance slider in ACR and Lightroom doing essentially the same thing as manually shifting the tops and bottoms of the A and B curves in LAB color?It seems similar, but is the math actually the same?

Dec 6, 2013I don´t know why, but suddenly there seems to be no way, I can get edit in PS with LR adjustments. There used to be an options box in LR when selecting "edit in Photoshop". Now I get no options, and my adjustments from LR does not show in PS. I have tried both the tiff and PSD setting in preferences/external editing, but no luck. I have also used the "Reset Warnings" in LR, hoping this would bring back the external edit dialog box, but no luck.

Lightroom :: Why Don't Adjustments In LR4 Show Up When Edit In CS5
Apr 16, 2012Why is it when I edit an image in lightroom 4 then go to retouch etc in photoshop cs5 those adjustements that I made on the image in lightroom ie contrast, saturation, exposure etc don't show up when I move the raw image into photoshop to do final retouching on the image but still have it in my lightroom catalog? It is the camera raw issue that comes up when you first try to edit an image and lightroom says it needs camera 7.0 which does't exist yet?

Sep 28, 2012 I'm trying to edit an action. I'm trying to change how I move something. I'm using a mac, I've tried clicking on the specific item in the action and hitting record; NO JOY.

I've tried selecting 'record again', but NO JOY. When I click on 'record again', it quickly goes to reord, then out of record and then it's back to normal as if it wasn't recording. I've put in a lot of work on this action it's a shame.

The action itself, is placing an image as a watermark, then moving it down and centre, slightly editing the image with effects, then finally flattening the image. Auto colour tone etc.

If I move to another image then come back the image is updated but it does not work in real time. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine in Lightroom V4.0

Apr 2, 2012I was trying to play around with the software to get to know it, and... well, I think I made something weird in it. Everything was flowing nicely when I was following the tutorial about Editing Objects: I created a box, I selected that edit poly option from the modify tab and I could edit vertices totally nicely.
But then, I really don't know what happened, but, I don't know exactly when, I suddenly could not move the vertices AT ALL. They are pretty visible, but when I select them, they turn red and the axis are not editable! I'm so confused! I can edit the axis very normally if I'm using an option like Select and Move but... With the edit poly thing I just cannot! I tried everything I thought of: Made a new box, restarted the program, restarted the PC! But NOTHING worked.
EDIT: It took me almost an hour to figure out I wasn’t selecting the Select and Move tool!

Feb 29, 2012Every so often I notice that my preferences have been reset. Can't pin down a frequency, but you say every 4-6 months this happens.Documents open in tab form, my scratch drive is now C, and the checked options of S and O drive is gone.

I have not reset the preferences or done any actions or disk clean up operations.Using current version of McAfee Security Center and it does run scans automatically. But it does this frequently so the 4-6 mo. of reset makes this unlikely.

Lightroom :: Make White Balance / Exposure Adjustments On Top Of Current Adjustments Across Multiple Shots?
Jan 15, 2014We have a bunch of shots taken using natural light - the shots all have completely different exposure and white balance adjustments.

Now that the shots feel like they've been shot at the same time of day (and on the same day) we'd like to start adjusting the white balance accross multiple shots - but use the current white balance/exposure from each individual shot as the starting point - not reset the adjustments.

Kind of like baking the current settings or making adjustments on top of current adjustments - or make new adjustments relative to the current adjustments.

Apr 17, 2008editing the text in a web page template that I downloaded from a free template web site. The page is .psd file, I opened it in photoshop ver 6, went on to those layers which are having text. the layers clearly denotes T , I double clicked on T but as per tutorial I read on a web site, the text is not highlighted or selected, instead the blinking cursor comes over that text and when i try to write something it overwrite the new text over the previous one and previous text is as it is as its before.
I also tried to edit the text by going on vertical tool bar, clicking the T button, and then double clicking on the required text but it also doesnt work. After going through couple of tutorial websites and reading it, I came to know that text layer might be rasterized, I checked in the main menu, the layer is not rasterized and clearly show the letter T.

Aug 4, 2004I'm having an issue with editing layers copied from one file to another in Photoshop CS. It seems to be essentially locking the layers and I can't figure out how to unlock them. I've tried duplicating them, renaming them, and resetting my tool preferences (I'm desparate and frustrated). They are in the same mode. This also tends to be an issue with opening a .jpg or .gif file and trying to edit it.
it seems the issue was my computer had the user permissions set for read/write only. Once I changed it so that all users had all permissions I was able to edit it.
Photoshop :: Unable To Edit The Background Layer
Oct 4, 2008I've opened a photograph in CS3 (whereas the photograph is the background layer), and subsequently tried to use any of the tools (clone, eraser, etc) for editing with no success. Everything appears to be working properly with the tool bars, but when you click on the image to use it, nothing happens.
I thought maybe it was an issue with the layer being locked, but I've tried copying/pasting the image as a new layer in a new file (layer is unlocked at that point), but it still doesn't work.

Aug 31, 2004I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.

Oct 12, 2013I am trying to make a simple graphic by cutting and pasting a picture into a new project, but when I open up the edit drop down menu, the options for copy or paste are not highlighted, so obviously they are not available. The only reason I can figure out is that somehow, unintentionally, I opened something on the right side that says edit/create/share. How to close this feature and in the gray rectangle box under those words, it is asking me what I would like to create. I just want to make a simple graphic, but because this project program is open I can't make the graphic I want. how to close this project program (Edit/Create/Share).

Dec 17, 2012The issue comes at random; upon starting PS CS6 (32-bit or 64-bit) it won't be able to open ANY files, of ANY file type (.psd, .jpg, .png, etc.)If by some miracle it DOES open a file, it won't be able to edit it; i.e. upon drawing a line with the brush tool, PS will delete the line when you lift off the mouse.

Things I've tried or tested include making sure the file wasn't read only, making sure it was a valid file, and deleting the preferences.I never have this problem on the school computers (all our school computers are late-model iMacs), but I've had this problem on two seperate Windows 7 64-Bit PCs.

The only way to fix it is to do a complete system reboot; even now though I've done three reboots & it still won't work anymore. My system specs for my desktop are:

Photoshop :: Unable To Edit Images Drawn By Shape Tool
Aug 5, 2012For some reason after drawing shapes with the shape tool, whether it is one line or a custom shape, I just can't edit it after drawing it. I can't edit it at all and it doesn't appear on any layer. I can delete every single layer and the shape will still be there.

They are not paths, but just to double check I did look under paths but it is empty. It doesn't matter what else I've done, or whether it is a new blank page I can't do anything with any shape once I've drawn it.

I can't get it to select it when I click show transform controls, I can't select it with the marquee tool and delete it (because it isn't on any layer) and I can't place anything over it to cover it.

I have to keep saving before drawing any shape and close and reopen the file if the shape doesn't go quite as I wanted first time. Obviously if I want anything over the shape in any way I can't do it.

Aug 7, 2008I understand the benefit of shooting camera raw and I like the adjustments you can make without effecting the photo itself. The one thing I can't get used to is the limiting workflow in raw that allows you to undo only one change. Being a long time user of Photoshop I'm spoiled by all the image changes I'm allowed to make in combination with one another and the ability to back out of all or some of them.
I'm I missing something in the raw workflow? I wasn't sure if this should be posted in the Photoshop, Bridge or Raw forum. If any of you know of a forum that discuss's this sort of stuff,

Nov 24, 2013My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.
