Is the vibrance slider in ACR and Lightroom doing essentially the same thing as manually shifting the tops and bottoms of the A and B curves in LAB color?It seems similar, but is the math actually the same?

I read a little about bit depth, & from what I gather, the human eye can only see so many colors, & going with bigger color depths is good where one has to do alot of editing.

most of these items are for records & archives, & maybe to be able to print from the scans, so I can throw out some of my paper.Also, when I scan in Adobe RGB, would it be best to use 48 bit depth to go with the fuller color? & when I use sRGB use 24 bit depth?
On our road profiles, we have to show that low points and high points are adjusted to maintain a minimum of 0.6%. see attached screen shot. Currently, I am calculating the adjusted low point and editing the profile label. Since I can't figure out how to edit one label in a data band, I've been wiping out the old elevation and typing in the new elevation over it.
Is there a way to get C3D to do the calculation for me and populate the labels with the adjusted elevation?

I've just 'upgraded' to CC, and noticed that actions that alter Curves adjustment layers do not play back correctly.The Action itself contains the correct steps ... here's an example.. but it refuses to play this type of step in any Action, giving me the default, flat curve, thus ...I've an extensive set of Actions of this type for photo-processing: I take it that these are now pretty useless in PSD CC?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I am measuring the 'red' 'green' and 'blue' values of a picture after I adjust the white balance with a grey card.. I notice that if I measure the colors from 'selected layer' they are different then if I select 'entire image'  those are both different if i do not do any white balance adjustment..

Right now I have to go back to the individual 'bg' layer I will call it to view the new color info after the adjustments have been made. I would like to see how the color info is changing for the layer the adjustment is being made to WHILE making the adjustments.

Working in BRidge and Photoshop CS6:I have 160 color adjusted hi-res CR2 RAW files from my photographer, thought I was getting tifs. I need tifs for my INdesign file. I tried using the photoshop image proecessor through brige by selecting all my images and then saving as TIFFs but I am losing all my color correcting? Is there a way to save these out as tiffs as a group and not one at a time? I also might have lost my color correcting when I copies them all to one folder as well...not sure what is happening except now my great product shots look like crap.

Now that the shots feel like they've been shot at the same time of day (and on the same day) we'd like to start adjusting the white balance accross multiple shots - but use the current white balance/exposure from each individual shot as the starting point - not reset the adjustments.

Kind of like baking the current settings or making adjustments on top of current adjustments - or make new adjustments relative to the current adjustments.
I have a Sony Alpha SLT A55V when I import them to Lightroom 4.2 the color and vibrance changes. See examples below.The first image is after importing to lightroom, and making no edits, the second is after importing in PMB Sonys software that came with my camera and making no edits. I have no presets et when I used the trial program from the adobe web-site this didn't happen but after I purchased it from Amazon,
View 1 Replies View RelatedFairly new to LR. I notice that whenver I import photos and open them up in the Develop module, the Clarity slider is set to 30 and the Vibrance slider is set to 25. I've repeatedly cleared the slider settings back to their defaults, but when I import another photo and open it up, the same exact thing happens.

Is this the way it's supposed to work? Is LR making auto adjustments based on what it thinks the image needs?
Effects->Adjust->Brightness/Contrast/Intensity
Effects->Adjust->Color Balance
Effects->Adjust->Gamma
Effects->Adjust->Hue/Saturation/Lightness
None of the above work [as expected] any more. I think this happened after the 6.3 Update.To replicate the problem:
1. Fire up CorelDRAW
2. Draw a closed shape and fill it with a color of your choice.
3. Open any of the above effects mentioned in the first post.
4. Try moving any of the sliders and see what happens. (Try with both the preview button locked and unlocked.)
I am sure you will notice what I mean. Surprisingly, they all work as usual, once you convert the vector object to a bitmap!
First my software and system info:Photoshop CS2 (version 9.0.2.0) Windows XP Pro sp3 (running on a dell inspiron 9300) 2Ghz processor 2GB of RAM 26 Gigs free hard disk space
Here's what I'm doing. I have a file open and working. When I try to click on the foreground or background in the tools menu to get the color picker, the application hangs... become completely unresponsive. I have to forcibly quite (ctrl+alt+delete) and restart.
Same result when I have a shape layer and try to double-click on the layer icon to edit that with the color picker - again, PS will hang and must be forcibly quit.
These are the only two scenarios I've stumbled upon but they are consistent - happens every time.
This only happens with this one particular file. The color picker works fine when I open new files. I suppose the obvious answer here is that this particular file is corrupted???
I've checked my laptops error logs and each event is logged there, called "Application Hang" and with a description of "Fault bucket 315619741" - real useful info
I wanted to create an action to determine if the color mode of an image is Lab, and if so, convert it to RGB. But there’s no conditional action test for Lab color mode. The list of conditions that can be tested includes RGB, grayscale, and a couple of other color modes, but not Lab, Can I get it done with scripting?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLet's say you have two photos - Photo A and Photo B Both Photos are identical in every way, except Photo B had several Color Corrections applied to it. So, in reality, Photo A became Photo B after these Color Corrections were applied.

The question is:
Does Photoshop CS6 have a way to analyze Photo B by comparing it with Photo A, then telling you what Color Corrections were applied, (even if you had not recorded a script)?
I used to take the color sampler and put a sample on my image. Then I created a curves layer. AND, by holding some combination of shift/ctrl/alt and clicking the color sample, the values would transfer to the red,green, and blue layers of my curves layer. From there I could make adjustments...
In CS4 I'm trying to do this, and I can't get it to work... It isn't the same as using the eyedroppers on the curve OR the hand above the eyedroppers. It actually copied the color sample values onto the individual color channels.....
How do I do this in CS4?
I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
I had done a logo in an older version of Corel, when I open it in Corel X4, the curves are invisible, and there appears to be no way to give those curves color. I can draw an independent curve and change the color of that curve, but cannot do the same with the existing curves from the older version.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand the benefit of shooting camera raw and I like the adjustments you can make without effecting the photo itself. The one thing I can't get used to is the limiting workflow in raw that allows you to undo only one change. Being a long time user of Photoshop I'm spoiled by all the image changes I'm allowed to make in combination with one another and the ability to back out of all or some of them.
I'm I missing something in the raw workflow? I wasn't sure if this should be posted in the Photoshop, Bridge or Raw forum. If any of you know of a forum that discuss's this sort of stuff,
Where is it? It was there in 5.0 and 4.4.

However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.
View 1 Replies View Relatedcorrect process for animating a Material color change using AutoKey and the Curve Editor.
Right now, I am only able to crudely manipulate the color change by setting the material color change while the AutoKey is active.
The problem is that I am unable to control the speed/time at which the color change actually transpires in the scene.
So far, the only solution I have found, is to set the color change hundreds of frames after the point at which I want the color change to actually occur.
Normally, I would go into the curve editor and and manipulate the keys for the color change to slow or speed up the transition, and to control the exact timing.
However, even though I am able to locate the color change key(s) in the Curve Editor, I either do not know how to properly manipulate them, or I don't know what keys I actually want to manipulate.
I am accustomed to sliding keys left and right and using null keys to hold a key frame (in the this case the color prior to change, which is grey, and then the color after the change, which is fuchsia. however sliding keys around in the curve editor, when I have the "fuschia" key(s) selected (I misspelled the name, so in the file it is "fuschia" not "fuchsia"), does not seem to affect the actually timing of the color change.
FYI, the material that I am attempting to animate is the "fuschia" material in the Compact Material Editor.
I like to put my actions somewhere special on my hardrive, not in apps folder.
Now, in past, when I saved actions CS2 would "remember" where this folder was, making real easy to save.
Lately, it keep defaulting to save as in the app folder-- even though I did navigate to my special area on last save as.
I want to draw hyperbola curve whose equation is  x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2=1. May I use equation curve tool to make the above hyperbola.Â
I have also made a hyperbola curve of aforesaid equation through conventional method on mathematical ground in the past.
I have ran an analysis and SSA gave me Error 607  on the report. It says "Inlet A9 gutter capture curve is not a valid curve."
A couple things I did different from the video lectures...
IÂ selected user define for the Tc to figure out Q. i computed those manually.
For the Inlets I have selected Maximum Capture Cutoff.
There are some inlets in this model I created that do not capture 100% of the flow so i created conveyance links to account for the bypass flow.Not sure why is not recognizing the Curve?
Why in LR4 is the Tone Curve default set to Custom with a contrast lowering curve? I would like the default to be linear, but I can't remember how I set that up in LR3.
