View 1 RepliesI have Photoshop CS (version 8.0) running on Windows XP Home (SP3). I searched the help files, FAQs, and the forums and didn't find anything related to this.
Today I opened a document I've been working on, created a new layer, picked a default 9 pixel hard round brush, and when I clicked on the canvas to paint I got "could not complete the task due to a program error" and right after this Photoshop shut down.
I ran my anti-virus, but the computer is clean. I then checked all the brushes in my Photoshop folder to see if there were any odd ones in there - there weren't. Then I closed PS and when I opened it again I held down Shift+Ctrl+Alt to reset the Prefs file. I created a new document and reset the brushes, then I tried once again to paint with a default brush. Again I received the same program error and PS shut down.
I uninstalled PS and reinstalled the program. I restarted my computer and opened PS and tried painting again - the same error, only this time PS didn't shut itself down.
I'm at a loss here. I know Photoshop can have some psychotic moments, but this is the first time I have encountered this weird behavior. If anyone can give me some suggestions on what might be happening and how to remedy it I would appreciate it.
CS6 not only shuts down itself, it shuts down my computer. I have a high-end graphics card (which I specifically got to run my photo-editing monitor), i7 processor, Win8, 64-bit, high resolution. It always happens, without fail, when I choose a large size brush or whatever tool in cloning, spot-healing, dodging, burning, etc). Otherwise, it runs fine. But if I choose a large brush, etc, it only shows me a half circle instead of the full circle, freezes PS, shuts down my computer, and then the computer re-starts.
I used this same PS program on my previous Win7 64-bit computer, which had far less capability, processor, graphics, and other credentials than this current one. It has nothing to do with having other apps running because it happens regardless. It has nothing to do with Bridge because I don't use Bridge. It happens every time as described above. When the computer boots itself back up, there's an option for me to send the notice of the error to Microsoft, which I've done about 50 times. Could it have something to do with Win8? Hope not, because I checked before I (regrettably) got a computer with Win8 to make sure Photoshop was compatible with Win8.
I have successfully saved my file, shut down Photoshop without incident, and yet upon opening CS6 it starts opening the latest autorecovery file. I need to have autorecovery on for the work loss protection it provides, but it can get confusing to have an Autorecovery file open instead of the file I had meant to open. ( This is also happening on a colleague's computer.)
I'm running Mac OS X version 10.8.3
2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
64 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
CS6 Version 13.0.4
It's happened several times with a variety of files. They are all Grayscale layered PSB's, in the 1.5 - 3 GB range.
In illustrator I like my row size to be at 50px in size. Every time I close down AI and reopen it later it seems that the layers have reverted back to their default sizes (I think its like normal or somthing cartoonishly small)
To get to the option panel I'm talking about, bring up your layers in AI then in the top right drop down menu select Panel Options at the very bottom of the contextule menu, and in that window the top options are "Row Size".This is where I pick "Other" and then set it to 50px (every time).
So I just finally updated my OS and my Photoshop and just encountered something I wasn't expecting. I have an Epson GT15000 scanner(big one with a feeder) I installed all the drivers and everything and the scanner works fine, but I can't seem to open the scanner from Photoshop to scan directly into the program. I can open the scanner independently and scan it to a saved file and then open it in photoshop. But it only has limited file type options so I'm basically forced to save it as one file so that I can then open it in photoshop and resave it as something else which is kinda a rediculous in between step and also leaves me with extra files that need to be deleted. Since the scanner itself hasn't changed and still functions the same otherwise I'm assuming it's because I'm using a new version of Photoshop. I'm also assuming that I actually can scan in the program, just not in the way that I'm used to. I used to go to import, and the scanner would appear on the menu for me to select it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the new cs6 master collection and all programs work well and don't cause problems when I shut down my iMac except Photoshop. If I use photoshop, anytime I try to shut down my computer all I get is a spinning wheel and computer will never shut down. This happened on cs5 as well and thought newer version would fix problem but it has not.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy CS2 shuts down when I try to open a raw file and sometimes in the middle of editing an image without warning and without saving any changes. I purchased a new Dell computer hoping it would solve the problem but it didn't. It's still happening with this new $6000.00 computer running Windows XP Pro. Is this a known issue and would an upgrade to CS3 resolve this matter?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using CS4 on my macbook pro, I have Alien Skin plug ins that I use quite a bit. Recently, after using the Alien Skin actions, CS4 shuts down if I try to use them a second time. So, I open a photo, use the Alien Skin, continue to edit, but if I decide to use Alien Skin again, it shuts down CS4.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running photoshop on my Asus eee pc but I have it running on an Acer Aspire 5670 monitor (bigger screen makes it easier for my retouching work!) and whenever I shutdown photoshop my screen gets a little bit bluer.
I can fix it by doing a recalibration but it's still kinda annoying because I don't always remember to do it and I'm sure you can understand that trying to get skin tones right when your screen is blue can be an utter.
I am using Photoshop Elements 6 in Windows XP.
My video clips play in sequence with thumbnails in full screen view, but freeze and shutdown software in slideshow mode. My goal is to burn slides and clips and show on TV via dvd player. Why does everything work fine in full screen mode and not in slideshow mode?
If I close down PE11 (Trial) the Organizer will not restart unless the PC is shutdown and turned on again. The editor will restart without a problem but not the Organizer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open the organizer it will start to load and then shut down. The editor opens up with no problems.
The program was working fine until I tried to import my picture files into the organizer. Ever since, it has been shutting down like this.
I tried uninstalling Photoshop and reinstalled it and the problem persists.
I cannot share photos from my Elements 8.0 Organizer via email. The program does not recognize that I have an email program loaded. The computer is a new HP desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 operating system. My Elements 8 does everything I need except for the photo sharing so I don't really want to purchase a new version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I installed LR4 my computer shuts down every time I am working in it. What could it be?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent problem with LR. I click to start and nothing happens. I have to go into Task Manager, Processes, find that LR is still active from the last time I used it, and shut it down, before I can restart the program. I never had this problem with LR 1,2,&3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had VSX5 shutdown completely without any error messages while in Share>Create Disc>DVD. I have no problems in the Add Media step. I add a Video File, MPEG2, in Add Media and change the Thumbnail to have the title of the clip. I click Next to go to Menu & Preview. I select a main menu from the gallery, select Hide Object for one of the provided texts in the main menu, and edit the PRJxxxx one. I select the Edit tab. Select Customize>Motion Filter and Zoom In and Out options. When I click OK to leave the Customize Menu, VSX5 completely shuts down without any error messages. This doesn't occur every time. I have also clicked OK, returned to the Menu & Preview window, and then clicked Preview. After clicking Preview, VSX5 has shutdown. I have also had the problem after selecting Navigation buttons in Menu & Preview and clicking OK. I have opened an incident with Corel support, and they asked if I had Service Pack 1 installed and if my software and drivers are up to date. I have Service Pack 1 installed and everything is up to date.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I switched to LR5, I've been getting a Windows error being logged at random when I shut down and optimise/backup the catalogue. This isn't happening everytime, but it is happening quite reguarly - maybe 50% of the time. I don't notice anything untoward, and the backup all seems to be working as expected, but right before LR closes (in the last few seconds of the backup and optimisation process), Windows records that LR "stopped working" and gives me a 1000 Event ID error (seems to be a pretty generic code for any application failure). Event Viewer is implicating gdiplus.dll as being the cause of the error. Didn't ever get this in LR4.
As I say, it doesn't actually seem to be causing any problem as such: LR is working fine and I wouldn't even know about this if I didn't keep an eye on things in Event Viewer/Reliability Monitor in Windows 7, so it's not a major issue. It is however annoying, and I hate to leave error messages like this unresolved. I've tried re-setting preferences, rebuilding all previews, clearing raw cache - no change. I'm wondering if the .dll file mentioned above might be corrupt - or if it's a bug.
Maybe fellow Win7 LR users could check in their Reliability Monitor to see if it's been recording any errors (just type in "relia" into the Windows search box and you'll find it for those who don't know about this feature).
I just got a new computer and installed Product Design Suite Ultimate x64. Every time I close Inventor, the window immediately stops responding, then will only go away if I stop the process. If I click "End Task" in the Task Manager, it will start to look for a solution to the problem, then immediately close. No error report displays. All other programs work with no issue. All of the settings are default as installed.
So far I have tried:
-Reinstalling with and without SP1
-Installing the latest Autodesk Certified graphics driver
-Using software graphics
-Running as Admin
-Launching in Vista and 2008 Compatibility Modes
Computer:
Lenovo S20
Xeon W3565 3.2GHz
Windows 7 x64
12GB ECC DDR3 PC3-10600
Quadro 4000
When I'm gonna write my program stops and appears a box that says Run time error and close my program. What is that, what I coul do?
