Paint Shop Pro :: Stopped Recognizing Camera Photograph Name Change
Mar 1, 2013
I'm having strange things go on with Paint Shop Pro. One, it stopped automatically recognizing the camera when I plug it in to upload new photos. Now I have to tell it to open the camera, and, even if I have 100 old photos and 25 new ones, it uploads all of them again! Second, the file names have changed for the photos. They've always been the date "20132713_*.jpg". Now it opens them as "001.jpg, or 002.jpg, etc. How can I get it to go back to opening with the date as the file name.....and recognizing the camera and automatically open new photos in the camera?
A month ago I successfully installed 3 ICC profiles from a paper manufacturer and got them recognised by PSP X5. I now have 4 more profiles and have installed them but they are not recognised completely by PSP. If I open the Color Management box and click Basic Color Management, with Rending Intent 'Pictures', the printer profiles list in the dropdown shows only the three original profiles (plus a lot supplied by Canon for the MG650 printer concerned). If I select Proofing, the Emulated device profile dropdown list shows all 7 profiles (plus the Canon ones), so PSP is clearly to some extent aware of the new profiles.
I cannot remember exactly how I achieved the inclusion of my original three in the list, but I do have the printer concerned as the default primary printer, so cannot see that this is a problem. The profiles are recognised in the other software that I use, so they are definitely correctly installed.
I have many photos of the busts/heads of statues that I would like to extract to follow the outline of the head/bust to then use to create a transparent .png file for use in graphics projects. Can PSP do this? How? I see that the default setting for a photograph is a single background layer; do you create a duplicate layer and then what?
I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?
I had been using X3 for quite a while, on this ancient machine... yet today, I downloaded X4 to see how much of a difference getting that program would be.
Installation went fine.
Program started up, asked me to put in my email address for registration confirmation.. no problem.
Loading screen: Paintshop Pro X4 has stopped working. I cannot get the program to load at all. All pre-required software and updates installed.
Here's a quick screen:
X3 still runs without issue, though I am also curious as to why that program weighs in at a 1.37GB total, and X4 is only 340MB? What's missing in X4 that takes up 1GB in X3?
My PSP X1 stopped working on me (and does not want to get reinstalled), and right now, i need a tiny information: what is the max brush size in X1? Is it 500 or 999?
repeat error each and every time I use any adjustment on graphics, photos or anything I am working on with PSP X3. Am including a screen shot, edited down to the forum specifics, and I had to edit the screen capture with PSP X2 since to reload PSP X3 will now require my restarting my computer.
I have used Paint Shop Pro since it's very first incarnation as a tiny program courtesy of the folks with Jasc, so this is not my first time using the product, just the absolute worst experience doing so.
No matter what the image, file type, or set-up, when I try to make adjustments (even if I make sure to stop and make double sure they are finished processing), eventually the program locks up and I get the error shown and stated.
Getting the error message "Corel PaintShop Pro X4 has stopped working". So far no workaround discovered, still does not work.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, fully current with updates. Memory: 8GM RAM 1 TB HD in each C; and E: CPU: AMD Phenom 3GHz processor GPU: ATI Radeon Graphic 3100
First installed in Windows 7 in
C:Program Files (x86)CorelCorel PaintShop Pro X4Corel PaintShop Pro.exe, then in E:Program Files (x86)CorelCorel PaintShop Pro X4Corel PaintShop Pro.exe (currently)
1. Installed, that error message 2. Patch, that error message 3. Removed, rebooted, e-installed, that error 4. Rebooted, reinstalled in XP, Works in XP! (I need it in Windows 7) 5. Removed ESET (needs to be relicensed anyways, this is priority right now) 6. Spybot shut down 7. Everything else works 8. Have been with PSP since JASC owned it as 4.0 (?) back in the mid 90s. 9. Frustrated with no answers, no solutions.
No AV, Spyware checkers, Malware checkers running. I took ownership of, have all permissions to and "Run as Administrator" Corel PaintShop Pro.exe
This is the application log: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 1/16/2012 5:39:18 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error [code]....
As of yesterday, my lightroom no longer recognises the raw files from my Nikon D7000. It won't import them. Not sure why as it worked fine prior to then.
I have been using PSP x3 for awhile with no issues, but about a month ago, it simply stopped working. I open the program via shortcut, and the logo blinks onscreen, but the program never opens. No explanation, no trace.
I have attempted to uninstall and re-install, but each attempt to uninstall completely freezes the PC dead and I end up having to physically turn the PC off. I'm detecting no infection on the PC.
Just today, while making graphics and such, my custom fonts just stopped working all together. Every single one that I have installed just shows up as nothing and is un-selectable when using it. The one in particular that i was using is Bebas Neue. Although all installed fonts are not working either. This happened out of the blue and I don't remember hitting anything or changing anything. Just typing with the font and it refused to show.
Steps Taken: 1. Reset All Preferences 2. Shift Key Trick on Load Up 3. Restarting the Computer 4. Reinstalling PSP X2 5. Using the font in other programs - Which they WORK (Word, GIMP, Adobe Illustrator, etc.) 6. Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Font itself.
I am using autocad Architecture 2012. the other day it randomly stopped recognizing most commands. I cannot TRIM, CO, OFFSET, ect. all of the main ones. a couple things still work, If I need to draw a circle I can type D and still input diameter. But for all of the rest of those it says "Unknown Command, press f1 for help."
what do I need to do to have my camera recognized to download photos? Yes, I have refreshed the list about 10 times, restarted my computer and all drivers are loaded.
PSPx6 64-bit runs fine on my computer, but a few weeks ago, the shortcut icon on my desktop (installed by installer program) "defaulted" to a generic-looking "document" icon that communicates nothing. The original icon with a camera and "64-bit" in it disappeared, and I can't figure out how to get it back. Deleting the generic desktop icon and re-creating a shortcut from program files/corel/corel paintshop pro x6 (64-bit) doesn't restore the original icon either. Sounds trivial, but a dumb-looking icon in the system tray (when I have a lot of work going on) doesn't work for me find PSPx6 when I have minimized it. Plus, I wonder if the missing icon isn't sign something else is "broken" as well? (diagnosis, PSPx6 32-bit is also on this laptop, as is PSP pro x3.)
I've been using Photoshop Elements 10 to edit raw .NEF files from my Nikon D3000 with no problems. Recently I purchased a Nikon D3200 and I shoot in raw .NEF files using that also but Photoshop Elements 10 will not recognize those .NEF files to edit. The error I'm getting is saying the file type is not correct.
I want to use the paint brush for editing a photo I have, but the only color available is black. No matter where I've looked in PSP, there was no option to change the color of the paint brush. I've read online that you need to change the pallet to material pallet, then go to "Foreground & Stroke Properties" and set the color box to the color I want, but the only colors I get are different hues of black and gray.
Even in Paint it's just a matter of clicking the desired color to use different colors. Why isn't it so simple in PSP?
I have some Tif files and jpeg files that are 600dpi and 400dpi. I scanned these images with my Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F scanner. Can i use my version of PSPP X3 Ultimate to change the dpi value? Is this stuck? I wanted to be able to get the 600 and 400 dpi image files (I have some 300dpi's too) down to the 100-250 range if I needed to. I see there are different export options and compression in PSPPX3Ultimate, but I'm not sure if this will do what I want.
I want to export as Tif and Jpeg again.
Are there any good third party photo and or video editors that I can batch edit this with? It's ok to mention pay programs and I'd prefer good quality freeware if there is such a thing. I am sure that my Corel program can do the trick though. I just don't know how and don't want to rescan multiple dpi's every single time. I only need the archives and then get the smaller dpi when needed.
When I installed PaintShop Pro X5, I listed the associated files (all of them). Now, when I go to the associated files, I cannot change the list (one or the total list). I check the boxes, but nothing changes. so I can change these associated files.
PSP X3 Not Responding, I had to terminate PSP ... I accidentally picked the Picture Tube tool, and then picked the adjacent Fill tool that I really wanted to use. The problem was that PSP was updating the Picture Tube cache, and was still in process at 98% and then hung! Not responding, killing the photo loader process not enough, so lost my current image edits. Not so good!
I'm a new user and wanted to change the units in the "File > Print" window to imperial from metric. Changing in "Preferences" doesn't change them and neither do the printer units. So far I haven't been able to find any references.
Note: I'm referring to the default unit (mm) that comes up in "Size and Position"
I'm testing the trial of X4, and it opens in an unpleasant window which has a dark gray background - is it possible to change the color of this background?
PSPX4's change to target tool has never worked right for me. I have X2 which does work right. In PSPX4 no matter what the setting it applies way too much color. Even at 1% opacity it is like about 80% in PSPX2 with all settings the same.
Latest updates installed. PSPX4 still does not like Adobe LR4 JPEGs when resaving them, although I now get an error message instead of a save that loses the file for good as some 4-8k sized file that can't be opened. I still have to use X2 for those two reasons.
I bought my PaintShop Photo Pro X3 on June 13, 2011, but when I installed it, the language in my program is Spanish, I want my program in English. How I can change de language in it?
how to change the thickness of the trace contour. I can click on the image, and use the trace contour but the line that it gives is very thin. Can you change the size just like you would if you used the pen and changed the width of the line?
In the past I created a picture with multiple objects (rectangles, colors, text labels, lines,...). As far as I remember I saved it with PSP vX2 into a *.psd file. This kind of file stores not only the final picture but the intermediate manipulation steps/layers as well.
Ok, now, some months later, I want to resume the picture design process. Therefore I started PSP vX2 and load the mentioned *.psd file. Much to my surprise I found no way to e.g. select a certain text line shown at the bottom of the picture and to edit it (again).
How does this work? Do I have to tell PS somehow "re-tokenize all layers" ?
Maybe (I am not sure) the *.psd file was saved by Photoshop and not by PSP. Does this matter? Are *.psd files compatible between Photoshop and PSP? Can I find out the previously saving program? I can imagine that this is somehow stored in the header of the *.psd file.
