I tried to design my icon on a transparent square canvas but I still get the little white triangles in the corners!!! And it does not seem possible to resize canvas to "fit" image size...

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf there's a way to change the tool that Paint.net opens with to be something besides the paintbrush. My first few actions after opening the program are, invariably:
1. try to make a selection.
2. undo the black line I've just put through the middle of whatever photo I was editing.
3. choose the rectangle select tool.
Would LOVE an option to be able to specify the "on launch" default tool, and I can imagine others would like this as well.
I have a drawing that has a white background.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
How I can change the corners of a jpg so they are round.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have gotten to a point where I have the round text,, I have a seal with a blank space.. I would like to put the round text into the blank space,, but when I try, and no matter how I try,, the text is a white square with round text on it when I try to place it in the circle.
The other thought that came to me,, what if ..(the text circle size was a guess) the text does not fit.. how do I expand or collape it? I know I have in the pass while playing with round text.. gone back to that effect and changed angles, start points etc.. is that the only way?
I have attached what I have so far. ( I tried to attach the Paint.net file but I guess you can't, so these are the two I am working on,, as layers in Paint.net)
I would like to make a square with round corners with certain Radius. I use Rectangular Marque Tool with Feathering set to some value. The thing is that when I cut the shape from Layer I don't get a sharp corner but instead I have shaded corner.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a square to round transition that I need formed up and the shop is telling me that they would prefer to split this thing at the corners rather than the flats. I've tried two different ways of doing this but how to handle this part. It's 10.75" OD at the bottom and 2'-4" square at the top and 1'3" in length and made of 1/4" stainless steel plate. The shop wants this in four bent pieces that they can weld together down the corners.
I've tried making just the one side but I'm not getting the results I would like to see. Making the full transition (as in the picture above) gives the finished result I am looking for but I can't separate it into multiple sides.
I'm working on this shape: it has square base, goes to the top round , and round top is shiffted off center.

I want to create a shape that has round corners on the bottom and square cormers at the top.
I have created two shapes, one with round corners and one with square one.
I was hoping to put them together then use the pathfinder to unite them but this then make the round corner square.
Is it possible to unite shapes with different corners.
I want to crop an image and make the edges round instead of square. Do I do this with a mask? Can't figure out how to use a mask. I went to Mask Outline->Smooth and it cut the image out and left the round edges.

I tried a similar arrangement with a Circular Hollow Section and it worked perfectly. I have tried fillet and groove for the SHS but it will not accept it.

Is there a way to make it look like the sheet metal lofted flange appears? So that the corners of the square drift to the quadrants of the circle, making a smooth transition?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?

After a round corner digital photo is created is there a way to outline the curved corners selection with a border?
(I have seen it done in Photoshop) I just upgraded to X3 hoping to be abe to accomplish this.
Searching for how to simply, quickly smooth round edges, I learned a lot of other things I'd been wondering how to do in PDN. But I didn't find a simple way to smooth round edges of non professional grade (not art) round outer edges. Say, for a Windows icon.
Even drawing the circle on a 32 x 32 background, when saved as png then opened in Greenfish Icon Editor & converted to ICO, the real icon (say on desktop) is still a bit jagged in places. The points at 0, 90, 180, 270 deg are obviously flattened & rest of circumference is a bit jagged (not terrible, but...).
I tried several tools to smooth edges a bit, but of course pixels are square... Read numerous posts - like [URL].....
This WAY overkill for what I'm doing - right now. Useful for later. All I want is circles or rounded corners on simple objects w/o spending much time - not for this type stuff. I learned good techniques useful for higher quality work.
PDN doesn't seem to have a simple, quicker way to half decently smooth circles / corners. Everything I tried just followed the square pixel edges or is quite tedious. Greenfish has some pretty decent tools - for making icons. But, smoothing rounded edges for something in the 32 px wide range is still pretty time consuming. Needs an algorithm to smooth circumferences.
