Paint.NET :: Change Tool That Opens With Something Besides Paintbrush
Jul 11, 2011
If there's a way to change the tool that Paint.net opens with to be something besides the paintbrush. My first few actions after opening the program are, invariably:
1. try to make a selection.
2. undo the black line I've just put through the middle of whatever photo I was editing.
3. choose the rectangle select tool.
Would LOVE an option to be able to specify the "on launch" default tool, and I can imagine others would like this as well.
I have drawn a shape using the Paintbrush tool's new smooth fidelity with a 3 pt stroke. But when I go to use the Varible Width tool it want allow me to modify the line.
I'm trying to paint on an image and when I mouse over where I want to paint I get the "prohibited" symbol and can't paint. I opened other .jpgs and was able to paint with no problem. Is there a type of file that you can't use the paintbrush tool on?
Whenever I draw an integral sign (using paintbrush tool) for those math savvy people know that the symbol is an elongated "S".
I am writing a document using the paintbrush tool because I want to convert hand written notes into PDF using illustrator because there are alot of scientific illustrations.
When I write math notes and write the integral sign the following appears in the image below. It is like half of the end of the elongated ends become "half-filled" instead of one nice vector stroke (see image below). How do I stop it from doing that ?
My paintbrush tool does nothing more than place a hairline path along where I've drawn. I've tried editing the stroke settings, changing brushes, ect, nothing is working. This isn't actually limited to just the paintbrush tool, but all of my drawing tools. I'm just baffled about why Illustrator is absolutely the most user-unfriendly piece of software I've ever drawn in.
I am fairly new to Illustrator. I am trying to trace an image using the brush tool. I can get some lines in and for some reason the brush tool begins to revert to fill none effectively just making invisible lines. I have the parent image on its separate layer and the line art on another layer. Layers are unlocked. When I use the brush it will look as if it is deleting/erasing what is shown on both layers. The brush tool is effectively erasing what is there already instead of drawing.
I tried searching for a couple days now and the best I could find is this: [URL] ...
I tried everything mentioned in the thread and it still isn't working. In fact I think the OP in that thread never really solved his issue too. I can barely even get my line art down.
PSP X3 Not Responding, I had to terminate PSP ... I accidentally picked the Picture Tube tool, and then picked the adjacent Fill tool that I really wanted to use. The problem was that PSP was updating the Picture Tube cache, and was still in process at 98% and then hung! Not responding, killing the photo loader process not enough, so lost my current image edits. Not so good!
Running Windows 7 - 64 bit with X5. About 2 weeks ago PhotoPaint tools changed from a nice, easy to use circle, showing the size of the nib in use (paint brush, clone, mask brush, eraser, etc) to a representation of the tool with no indication of how large the nib is. I've tried working through this, being busy with work, but it's very frustrating and was so much easier with the nib circles - showing the size.
This is the same thing that used to happen in V.12, and previously the solution was to return to a checkpoint in the system, re-install and all was set back to normal. It's been almost a year since switching to X5 and have no memory on how or what the process was back for V.12.
I use Photoshop 6. Whenever I open an image, it opens with crop tools around it. I would like to change that and have the images open with the Move tool selected instead. How an I change this default?
I've been averaging about 10-15 seconds from clicking on a pic until the program opens and the pic is displayed. Today a .jpg (272KB) took 26 seconds from clicking the pic to PSP opening and displaying it.
I have everything disabled in startup and all non Microsoft services except Protexis unchecked.
PSP ProX4 was just purchased and installed last week and has the latest patch.
I wanted everyone to find it. In the older Windows programs, you can choose which program opens in editing, but in Windows 7 that feature is disabled. If you download the following program, click File Type Settings > Context Menu > then, for example "PNG" extension-- you can choose which program OPENS a PNG, which program EDITS a PNG, etc. That way you can view a photo in Windows Photo Viewer, but edit in Photoshop. When I click "Edit Original" with a jpeg selected in the links panel it opens Microsoft Paint! In Windows (7) the file association is Windows Picture Viewer (NOT Paint!) and in Bridge it is associated with Photoshop CC. In InDesign we have the option of choosing which program to edit linked files with. In Illustrator we are stuck with the astounding Paint! Why?? 17 versions and this still bugs me!
In Lightroom 4.2 when open and I want to edit in PSE 10, I go to Photo, edit in PSE 10, and PSE 10 opens, but there is no image. I want to edit in PSE 10 and can't. Using LR 4.2, and attempting to edit in PSE 10, PSE 10 opens but no image opens to edit
I have a Javascript that I have written that builds a interface of buttons in organised groups based on the contents of certain folders. Everything works fine but when you call it from photoshop and extendtoolscript isn't running it always opens it up. I have written a lot of scripts with interfaces and I have never had this problem.
Its not a huge problem for me as I usually have this program open anyway but I intend to have a team of people using this script so if I could stop it somehow it would be much better.
When I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.
In Xara Designer Pro 7, when I have selector tool active and want to drag over a number of elements to select them the selector tool will change the size of the canvas (page). Is that not a bug? I used this way of selecting elements often, and it is not good for me with this new behaviour.
Is it a bug or is it a new setting which I then need to change?
i did notice a lag (almostac ceptable, passable) using the brush tool , painting black and white on the maskes..i tried different video card from nvidia to ati , but did not find a real solution..the only solution is set the opengl off or set to basic,
On a new layer, I used the line and curve tools to draw the outline of a human figure. I want to fill the shape with a color. However, I can't figure out how to select the entire figure so that I can fill it using the Paint Bucket tool. How can I do that?
Example: Open GIMP New File, 50x50 px, RGB, 72ppi Paint Bucket, Lasso, Magic Wand, all work. Pencil, Paintbrush - nothing.
If I open an image, I can select it, duplicate it, color pick, paint bucket and all of the functions in the dropdown menus seem to work, but no drawing or painting.
I made a new template, and my Pencil and PaintBrush would not work. When I tried to draw something, nothing appeared. The icon was there, but no drawing area. I tried to ajust it with the [ and ]. Nothing changed.
When I use the paintbrush tool, If I try to click "basic" and the straight line it simply does not do it no matter what, it reverts to 3pt round. Can you not use the basic setting on the paintbrush? Only the pencil?
If I attempt to use the paintbrush after I add an object, even if I merge it with the background, I cannot use the paintbrush. It becomes invisible on the screen. If I click on the screen I will see a single brush stroke which freezes. The program becomes unuseable. I have been using CorelDraw since Version 4.
When attempting to edit a photo (on PS CS3), the cursor for the paintbrush and clone stamp tools does not display on the image - it'll come up when the mouse isn't directly over it (ie around the borders, & workspace etc, but not on the image itself). All other tools the cursor will display (eg marque and crop etc). Is anyone able to offer any help on the subject?
