Paint.NET :: Reducing / Expanding Of A Selection By Pixel
Dec 26, 2012
E.g. I select a red area in a photo with the magic wand tool. Then I want to reduce it exactly by 2 pixel around and fill the selected area then with lets say blue. After that the formally complete red area is now blue with a 2 pixel red border around it.
Another thing is I open a new plain picture, do a circle selection with the tool Ellipse Select, fill it red. Then I want to reduce the selection by e.g. 10 Pixel around and fill the rest with another color.
I it possible to do do such a reducing or expanding of a selection by pixel?
Is there a way to do a pixel-exact (rectangular) selection when zoomed out?
e.g. I have an image that is 3000x2000, I have zoomed out to see the whole image and like to select a section that is 1280x1024 out of that image. When I use the mouse, I can't select it exactly (expected behavior as one pixel in my view is 2.3 pixel in reality) but even when I use the mouse combined with the arrow keys I get the same behavior (which I did not expect, I would have thought I could change the selection's size pixel by pixel).
Currently I'm solving the problem through selecting the next bigger size (e.g. 1283x1025), copy/paste it into a new image, then crop it to 1280x1024 and copy/paste it again to a new image where I save it. Is there a more efficient way of doing it?
The problem I'm having is when I use either the square selection tool or when I Control+Click on a layer and expand the selection (square or rectangle) the corners get cut at a 45 degree. I'm using PS7 and it is also doing it on CS2 also. A Graphic Artist friend of mine tried it on his computer (CS2) and it does the same thing. I thought for sure I've done this before without the cut corners.
I have an image that is 912px long and 1px high..There is 1px of green at each end and the the rest is white.I need it to be 150px long 1px high in total.
2px of green (one at each end) and 148px of white in the middle.
[URL]... My problem is that my images in photoshop look good on their own. But then when I put them into one image they all become blurry. I save them in high quality, I've tried changing the ppi on the "new" document but it only worked a little bit. My Ai text that I place also comes in blurry.
Sometimes I can get them to look fine (aside from the Ai Text, which I do save high quality, or for web, neither of which matter) but when I reduce the image size or flatten the layers, it gets blurry and when I zoom in it's ridiculous how blurry they are. I just tried making it from a large canvas and just reducing the images when I place them, which looks good, but then, like I said, flattening and/or reducing the image both provide the same effect: blurry!
I've never had a problem with this until yesterday. I haven't changed any settings, but for some reason it's just not turning out right. It is decent for when it's at 100% but the end graphic is only 600px so it's small. I'm worried that if my client zooms in to see it better she will see how blurry it is and that will make me look bad.
In CS5 there was an option to use the Live Paint Bucket on a newly traced image and there were also gap options to close gaps when doing this. I do not see these options in CS6. Where are they?
Program that I use call Sketchup. In SketchUp you draw model of a building to post it in google Earth but it can't be any larger 10 MB what makes the file size grow is the pictures that you applied to your model, (Downsample all texture files that have been used to paint the surfaces. Take each texture into a photo editor and reduce the resolution) this will supposedly minimize the file size? Is this possible when I transfer my photos from SketchUp back into Corel , how do I reduce the resolution so it would reduce my file size?
Tips on reducing my JPG images in PSP X4 without loosing too much quality. I know that it isn't possible to not lose some picture quality but if you have any pointers that would be fantastic.
Why when I make a path for example and make a selection from it every time the selection is 1 pixel wider then the path. I'm used to it with Photoshop and it's very precise even you use the lasso tool and paths. But here I can't understand the logic in that 1 pixel more. Every time I make a selection I have to reduce the size of the selection with 1 pixel and that is very uncomfortable.
In vX1 I could save jpeg without substantially reducing file Mb size. In vX4, whenever I edit and save a jpeg file (using save & save as), it results in a reduced number of Mb's. Options in the 'save as' dialog are set at best. It would appear that PSP X4 is automatically optimising. Is there any way that the original file size can be retained on saving after editing?
I am trying to color this wolf in my friend made so I told her i could color her wolf. SO then, I use a paint brush to color it and I tryed to do lighting on the bottom and it turned out ugly so i gave it a gaussion blur. Then it turned ugly so how to color it in so I can see how it could look just copy it and color it.
I have started using paint today , how I can increase the pixel size when printing for a better quality impression?
I have started scanning photos and directly loaded photos onto my computer, but can only print "600 pixels, not good quality. My printer generally photocopies and prints good quality photos.
Most of the images I work with need to be saved at screen resolution (in my case that's 72 or 96 dpi).
In past versions, I'd load an image, usually 300 dpi, and when I resize the image (Image -> Resize), the default resolution was always 72 dpi. All I needed to do was set the new pixel dimensions that I wanted, and I was done.
In X5, the resize box is showing the actual current dpi of the picture I'm trying to resize.
Is there a way to set X5 so that the Resize function always defaults to a specific resolution (i.e. 96 dpi)?
I can not use my HP scanner. It looks like the image size is wrong and should be reduced to less than 49999 pixels high x 4999 pixels wide. Where could I change the image size in X4. Using Windows 7 Pro.
Joined the recent webinar on X4 and very impressed with the product. I currently use Photoimpact X3 but looking to change to the new product.
How do I import photos of all different sizes and output to a 800 x 600 photo suitable for import to a digital photoframe? In Photoimpact, I set up a new image that is 800 x 600, make changes to the photo (crop, hue, etc), resize so that the minimum ht or wdth is 600 or 800, right click, copy, move to new image, paste, then move the image about until I am happy with the finished photo and save to a file that will subsequently be copied to a USB pen drive.
Is there a plugin or something that will allow me to change all pixels that match a certain color value to another color value? So let's say I have a picture that has red, green and blue on it. And I want to change every pixel that is blue to yellow.
How to get pixel images to look more realistic. Specifically ones of people/avatars. I am trying to learn Photoshop but it is challenging and takes more time then I have right now. I already really know paint net really well and would like to know if I can make these images more realistic and how.
I making a bling picture on a web site. Im seeing my pic on paint in pixel mode. What i want to do is see all like colors so i can pic them to put in my web bling. That way i dont have to pic one color at a time to transfer. Does this make sense?
In Photo-Paint X5, there is an option that allows you to turn off the pixel grid. It's located under Tools -> Options -> Document -> Grid -> Pixel Grid. If I uncheck the "Show pixel grid at 800% and higher zoom", then the pixel grid is turned off as expected. However, the next time I open another document, the pixel grid gets turned right back on. How do I make it so the pixel grid is always off? I've tried making it fully transparent, but the transparency resets each time I open a new image as well.
OK im working on Zelda a link to the past images and those things are like 24 pixels an object is there a way i can make the pixel bigger without stretching or re sizing cause that make it all blurry
Look okif you cant see them here

THE LITTLE ONE IS THE NORMAL SIZE then i re size it and it looks blurry you might not see it but in the game it looks too real
Is there an easy way to crop a dozen pictures so the image is in the same place? I kept the camera as still as possible but there's inevitably a bit of jumping about. I've tried calculating x and y distances from a fixed point but it doesn't ever seem to work. And can you control the cursor position from the keyboard? It's soooo difficult to get accurate pixel position using a mouse.
Would it be possible to have an option that allow color picking to pick document's pixel's color, rather than current layer's color with its opacity ?
I really never want to pick a color from a single layer. I always want to pick the color I see, and without its opacity, the one that result from the blend of all layer on the document's pixel on which I pick the color.
it is possible draw objects - rectangles, circles, rounded corners and create text objects - aligned to screen pixels? Photoshop has it - Pixel-Precise Alignment. Result is -- an edges are not blured, example -[URL]
One thing I never liked about Corel PhotoPaint X5 was that a pixel grid appeared when you zoomed in. It is possible to turn this off on a per-document basis, but not globally. Now, I see X6 still didn't fix this.
I must of changed something but I don't know what , when I upload a photos and simply save it without doing anything (and adding/changing photo) it saves it but in a lower quality .
With default settings, when zoomed in and a tool is dragged while active to the top of that zoomed in section it continues upward. Is there an option to change the tools behavior so that it stops when it reaches the top of what you're zoomed in to?
My second question regards the pixel grid. When you zoom in at different degrees it displays different grid patterns. Is there an option to only have it display a grid of horizontal and vertical lines?
