I can make textures (grass, rock, etc.) purely out of renders/effects, meaning that I can make them as big as I want. How would I go about making these textures seamless?

Many years ago I had a program called Fractal Design Painter. (I don't think the program exists anymore) Anyhow, it allowed you to make an image that would tile seamlessly - every time your brush went off the canvas, it would appear on the canvas in another place and continue to paint. When you tiled the image, the seams would not show. Does anyone know if Photoshop can do this, and if so, how?

What I want to do is take a design and automatically filter it to divide it into four parts that are moved into the corners of the image for tiling, like the Make Seamless feature. But I don't want any image-changing effects other than that, like gradients, which can't be turned off when using Make Seamless. What can I do?
If I have to do it manually, how do I do this? I can't seem to understand how to use the grid or ruler to find the exact center or divide the image into four equal parts.

I'm trying to create a seamless pattern in CS6. Before I had CS6 I didn't have this issue.
So, I have my 1500 x 1500 pixel document.I have set up the new pattern design in the center that I created.I go to Filter/Offset - wrap around and choose 750 px for both the vertical and horizontal.I fill in the spots, not touching or going to the edges to create the rest of my patterned tile.Define pattern. Then, go to fill a new larger document with the pattern and the offset is not seamless. See attached.
I have not encountered this problem before and have made lots of patterns this way. I do realize I can do this in Illustrator, but my client needs a PS file.

I have just got my web page backgrounds from various sites across the net. Now I need to make my own as the background I need cannot be found.
how to make tilable images that are seamless? A very long time ago, I had a program that would paint on one side as I paited on the other (making the image tile seamlessly). However I do not remember the name of the program and was hoping that PS will do it.

The closer I got to the same look was to create a brush with the size of 1 pixel and 500% spacing, but it's still a bit slow to get even a small area looking like it's been sprayed. Plus, in the end my pattern looks too regular, not very natural. Here is part of the image whose look I'm trying to recreate (400% and 100%).

I'm trying to do something very simple in PS CS6 that's proving to be, well, not so simple (for me at least). All I want to do is animate a layer in a clockwise direction and end up with a seamless looping animated gif. I discovered rotation can't even be animated unless you convert the layer to a smart object, first of all (and by accident. And the "Motion" function doesn't seem to work much at all, where there is a "Rotate" option.).
And of course simply copy-pasting the first key frame in the timeline to the end of the timeline just makes the layer rotate clockwise, then counter clockwise back to it's original position.

how to make 45 degree angle lines that I want to embed into my background. Well thats easy enough. But I need to make them so that they are seamless so that if a browser window is 600 or 6000 wide the lines will still fill the whole page on the background colour.

I am trying to create a seamless pattern brush in CS6 .When I use the no fill/no stroke bounding box placed behind the object to define the repeat, instead of cropping the object for the brush, it overlaps it. Here is an example:
When I do this in CS5- the bounding box works fine and crops out the space outside. Was there an update in CS6?

I have been using the Artlandia Symmetry Works for AI and am very pleased with the ways it can be tweaked and set up. I am now looking for a similar plug-in for Photoshop, that would allow me to create repetitive patterns, seamless textures etc. It should allow a variety of settings, possibilities to repeat/rotate/mirror the original picture in order to create a pattern for eg. fabrics or fashion design.

I'm sure this an easy one and I've overlooked something, but I can't seem to get the solution for this problem. I have a bitmap image of a map and I would like to split this image up into many tiles which can be saved off as seperate images. if possible I would also like to be able to specify the size and resolution of these tiles.

Just need to create this as a background tile for a web page for a site that is for a rock climbing photographer friend of mine.
Should be easy enough but I just cannot get a really good looking effect.
To be honest any kind of 'stone' effect will do, it just has to look good and not like sandpaper.

I'm a new user of GIMP. I have scanned a line plan that I need to modify in a series of multiple scans (plan is too large to scan in one image) and I need to recombine the multiple files back into one seamless image.
How does one accomplish this?

I understand how to make the brushes, but is there any way to have greater control over how uniform the patterns appear?
For example: I'm trying to create a brush that is made up of tiny beads. But I can't seem to make one perfectly, as the beads get distorted or chopped off when I attempt to create shapes with the line or pen tools.
And yes, I've tried all of the preferences in the brushes pane, but neither of them works well.
With this bead brush, I would like to write words. So you can see where I'm going with this. The letters of the words would be made up of tiny beads (there are fonts like this, except I'd like to colour the beads my own way).

I am trying to create seamless pattern repeats. Most of the time when I do this I get thin lines between the tiles (I place the original pattern and move>copy it to exact measurements). I have read in other forums that these are 'ghost' lines which don't appear when the design is printed out, but I've had fabric samples printed that do contain a line. Also sometimes the motifs on the edge of each tile don't match up - see the slight line down the orange / white cups here:
I move>copy the motifs using the exact measurements of the artboard, I line up my clipping mask with the artboard and they are exactly the same size, and they have no stroke width. I can't work out why it still does not work.
Even before I copy and tile the design I sometimes have a thin white line down one side - see below.

We struggle a bit creating a seamless repeating pattern that includes embedded images with clipping masks applied. Our pattern is a 550x550mm black square with various embedded inserted on top. All of these images have Clipping Masks applied to hide unwanted areas. These images are placed so they create a seamless repeating pattern and this includes areas that overlap the square.Once we create a swatch from this pattern the repeatable area becomes too big as it includes the unwanted areas hidden by the clipping masks.Because the repeatable area is now too big it's actually not repeatable.
Pathfinder/crop to delete the unwanted areas in the images etc.We though of just live tracing the images, but due to the complexity this is not an option.Do we really have to do our "cutting" in Photoshop .

I would like to simplify this assembly into one seamless part for FEM calculation:The assembly consists out of parts that, in reality, will be welded together. Due to their form, there is no way to place them exactly onto each other, therefore there are slight gaps between the parts:
Now when I try to merge the assembly into one part via "simplify" --> "create simplified part" and choose "single solid body with seams between planar faces merged", Inventor does not fill these gaps (even though it displays only one part in the bottom right corner of my window). Unfortunately, the remaining gaps brings "contact" problems in the FEM simulation.
how to close the gaps and really merge the assembly into one part?

I played with the feature a bit and understand how to create the patterns. Problem is when I go to fill in my 12x12 space there are seams. I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?
