GIMP :: Combining Multiple Images Into One Seamless Image

Jul 3, 2012

I'm a new user of GIMP. I have scanned a line plan that I need to modify in a series of multiple scans (plan is too large to scan in one image) and I need to recombine the multiple files back into one seamless image.

How does one accomplish this?

GIMP :: Combining Slices Of Multiple Rectangles

Sep 27, 2012

Using guides, I can create slices of multiple rectangles intersecting each other. For a web, I may have one picture on the top and multiple items below. If I use guides, the top picture gets cut into multiple pieces. Is there a way to merge them back into one piece? I probably can create a new guide on with only the top, but it's an extra step and the HTMLs from 2 attempts are not compatible with each other.

GIMP :: Pasting Fonts And Combining Images

Jul 8, 2012

I want to know how to insert a customized/colorful font like the one seen in the attached picture (Darknet). How do I do this with a generic stock image using GIMP? I want to create titles for my books using fonts that are relevant to the book title.

Lets say I want to use a woman's face/body from one stock photo image and transplant it into another stock image (just the face/body even though there are other elements in the background.

Is this possible with Gimp? What I want to do is combine the two. For instance, a picture of a galaxy of stars and then paste the image of the woman onto it.

GIMP :: Combining Images With Slightly Different Perspective?

I am trying to combine these two images (I want to keep the very top of the first image but I like the second image better...there is just not enough of her hand). How would I be able to accomplish this while also getting the perspectives to match up? I can get the hand looking ok, but then the rest of the image is funky because nothing else matches.

GIMP :: How To Make Seamless Without Gradient Effect

Jan 23, 2013

What I want to do is take a design and automatically filter it to divide it into four parts that are moved into the corners of the image for tiling, like the Make Seamless feature. But I don't want any image-changing effects other than that, like gradients, which can't be turned off when using Make Seamless. What can I do?

If I have to do it manually, how do I do this? I can't seem to understand how to use the grid or ruler to find the exact center or divide the image into four equal parts.

Illustrator :: Seamless Repeating Pattern - Using Embedded Images With Clipping Masks

Jun 25, 2013

We struggle a bit creating a seamless repeating pattern that includes embedded images with clipping masks applied. Our pattern is a 550x550mm black square with various embedded inserted on top. All of these images have Clipping Masks applied to hide unwanted areas. These images are placed so they create a seamless repeating pattern and this includes areas that overlap the square.Once we create a swatch from this pattern the repeatable area becomes too big as it includes the unwanted areas hidden by the clipping masks.Because the repeatable area is now too big it's actually not repeatable.

Pathfinder/crop to delete the unwanted areas in the images etc.We though of just live tracing the images, but due to the complexity this is not an option.Do we really have to do our "cutting" in Photoshop .

GIMP :: Layer Reordering With Multiple Images

Jul 24, 2013

I usually import several image frames using the 'Open as layers' command. However, I notice that my layer are always ordered in the reverse manner. For instance, when I import 700 images as layers, image number 700 is assigned as layer 1 and image number 1 is assigned as layer 700. Is there a way for me to completely reverse this layer ordering?

GIMP :: How To Edit Multiple Images On Same File

But when I copy and paste another picture on, when I try to use the tools, it only works on the first picture. So I ended up editing the pictures one by one on separate files, then put them together, but now, i need them on the same file so I can get the size right. How do I fix this (or can I not)?

GIMP :: Exporting Multiple Layers Into Images

Jun 1, 2011

I have scoured the net for any Script-Fu or Batch to do this, and only find old code that is no longer good for gimp 2.6. For some absolutely insane reason (as far as I am concerned), gimp has failed time and time again (since their inception) to actually make it available to export multiple images at the same time. I literally have 300 layers, and for me to crop them all and save them as images would take an entire day.

Why hasn't this been made available? Is there any code or anything I can use to accomplish this task in Gimp 2.6? Photoshop allows it, and has since its inception! Why not Gimp? Is it that difficult to create? Are there really no plugins to do this?

VideoStudio :: Combining Multiple Video Sources (transitions)

Jul 14, 2012

I have two videos of the same event that I would like to switch between. There is audio to sync to the video as well.

What I wanted to do was:
1) Put the main video in the main video track
2) Put the audio in the music track and aling with the main video
3) Put the secondary video in the overlay track. Align it with the audio and set the overlay to cover the entire screen.
4) Cut out most of the overlay video (spit the clip into sections and delete most of them).

That worked as far as it went -- the main video shows, interspersed with the secondary video, and everything is aligned with the audio. The problem is that the change between video perspectives is quite aburpt, but I cannot figure out how to make the transitions be seamless.

I added transitions to the beginning and end of each small clip on the overlay panel, but that didn't really make things seamless, particularly at the end of the clip -- there isn't anything to cross cut to, and if it fades to black then the main video pops up immediately when the overlay clip ends.

I tried splitting the video in the main track at the spot where the overlay comes in and adding a transition to the end of it; no matter what i try with the ripple settings, that throws the audio out of sync when the overlay is finished. I also tried deleting that section in the video track and moving the video from the overlay track into the video track; that was difficult enough to make sure that the sections were exactly the same length, but then I still have the problem with the transition lengthening the clip and throwing off the audio. I guess I could somehow figure out how to trim exactly the right amount of time from the clip I am inserting to solve that problem. Really, I guess I'd have to do that twice -- once for each transition -- because if otherwise the audio would be off in the clip being inserted. So I need to trim 1 second (or whatever) from the beginning; split it somewhere, and then trim 1 second from the end.

Photoshop :: Combining Multiple Paths And Foreground Color

Oct 15, 2005

I searched the forums briefly and couldn't find an answer to a couple annoying problems I've been having with Photoshop. I'm running a PC with Photoshop CS2, which is part of the entire creative suite package that I recently purchased. Here are the two issues that I’m trying to tackle.

1) Combining multiple paths
I have a picture of a car and I’ve painstakingly traced a path around the outer perimeter, but then there are other areas that I’d like to include as part of the same path and I can’t seem to find out how to make this happen. Just to be clear, I select a path around the outside of the car so I can place it into a new background, put in some shadows, etc.

But, when I try to select other areas of the image to include as part of the path (say between the spokes of the wheels) so the new background shows through as well, it creates a separate path. I’ve yet to figure out how to combine each into a single path file so when I attempt to create an effect, I don’t have five different paths to tackle. A similar scenario cropped up (pardon the pun) when I try to do a radial blur on the wheels and a motion blur to create the appearance of motion. I simply can’t figure out how to get the paths into a single file.

2) When manually adjusting levels of an image, the three eye-droppers that allow you to set white, grey and black points can be used, for example to select which part of the image should be the brightest white (in the case of “set white point”). When I use this eye dropper, it keeps changing the foreground color in the toolbar.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to prevent that from happening? This is rather annoying because when I try to expand the canvas size and I’m expecting it to be white, it ends up being and off shade of white because it picked up the color of the background that I selected as what should be the brightest white in my image. I know the long work around, but am I missing a default setting that would prevent this from happening?

GIMP :: Drag Or Copy Rectangular Selection Onto Multiple Open Images?

May 27, 2011

I have a task that I repeat all the time, where I have about 20 digital photos that are all taken of something the same size, at the same magnification, but not centered identically. I then need similarly centered, identical size and shape cropped images for all of the images. In Photoshop, a friend with the exact same task solves this by opening all of the images, making a rectangular selection of the appropriate size and shape by eye on the first image, and then dragging this rectangular selection from this first image into each other open images and hand-positioning in each image as he drags it in, so that all of the selections for cropping the images are the same shape and size, and can be individually positioned, rapidly. This exact solution is perfect for this task, and although it works great in Photoshop, selections can't be dragged intact from image to image in the same way in gimp 2.6.11 on ubuntu 11.04/gnome 2.32.1/linux 2.6.38-8 generic , so I am looking for a way to accomplish something similar.

GIMP :: Convert Panorama Photos To Multiple Overlapping Images For Animation

May 25, 2013

I have a long and complicated road trip timelapse photo set I'm converting to an animation. That i've managed to sort out. However I also have some panoramas that i took here and there. I'm trying to take these panoramas (about 11 of them) into their component images, but with an overlap so that they will be in the animation appearing as a pan.

So I have about a dozen of these fairly wide images (2096 x 544 for one of them), and each of these i want to split into about ten images with a reasonable "overlap".

Given the amount of potential images, and my desire to have a smooth pan, making composite images manually wouldn't really work.

I've been using ifranview to bulk crop and resize images but i couldn't work out a way to do this so I switched to GIMP, which I'm not great with.

I've grabbed the guidelines every x pixels script and guillotine into layers plugin, hoping I could guillotine across multiple guideline "units" but all it's given me is dozens of vertical slices of the image.

I could merge and duplicate them but that would take ages.

At the moment I'm thinking my best option is to put the guidelines on and use selections to snap to guidelines and paste as seperate layers, then save all the layers as seperate files. However that still seems very slow and clunky and i'm wondering if there's a better way.
