GIMP :: Convert Panorama Photos To Multiple Overlapping Images For Animation
May 25, 2013
I have a long and complicated road trip timelapse photo set I'm converting to an animation. That i've managed to sort out. However I also have some panoramas that i took here and there. I'm trying to take these panoramas (about 11 of them) into their component images, but with an overlap so that they will be in the animation appearing as a pan.
So I have about a dozen of these fairly wide images (2096 x 544 for one of them), and each of these i want to split into about ten images with a reasonable "overlap".
Given the amount of potential images, and my desire to have a smooth pan, making composite images manually wouldn't really work.
I've been using ifranview to bulk crop and resize images but i couldn't work out a way to do this so I switched to GIMP, which I'm not great with.
I've grabbed the guidelines every x pixels script and guillotine into layers plugin, hoping I could guillotine across multiple guideline "units" but all it's given me is dozens of vertical slices of the image.
I could merge and duplicate them but that would take ages.
At the moment I'm thinking my best option is to put the guidelines on and use selections to snap to guidelines and paste as seperate layers, then save all the layers as seperate files. However that still seems very slow and clunky and i'm wondering if there's a better way.

Any way to convert a .xcf file to a video or animation that shows all the things you did to the image from beginning to end. I want to show a friend how I drew this picture, but I'm already done and only have the .xcf of the completed drawing.

Been messing around with Image Ready 3.0 for some time and have had some good experience making animated gifs...but only by adding to or subtracting from the layers of the same image.
How can I tween between 2 or more separate images?

I am using PSE9 and just put it on our new Mac 10.8.2 from windows 7. It runs fine but things aren't quite the same. On windows if I wanted to covnert a RAW file to jpg and was in the organiser I just clicked on file, save, and selected jpg and could choose mulitple photos easily. On the mac when I am in the organiser and click on file there is no save button....is it hiding. I can do them one at a time when I'm in edit but that is a very long way about doing it. Is there an easy way to select lots of photos in the organizer and convert them to jpg from RAW?

I have 100 BMP images, all the same size ( 508 x 320 ). Is there simple procedure to import these into GIMP and save as an Animated GIF ?
From what I've read ( via search and the manual ) I getting impression that I must create a layer for each frame and then insert the image. This would be very time consuming.
Virtual DUb has very user friendly interface, but I have problems with final product ( lots of residual artifacts )

I have done LOTS of detailed research into ppi, dpi etc.
I believe I do understand the difference. Whenever I open a picture in gimp it opens at 72ppi. I wish to scale all my photos to 300 ppi so i can use a template I made of the exact same size paper as my printer uses without having to worry about the printer rescaling my photos from 72 ppi to whatever dpi it needs.
I have converted lots manually and am assured that this works for my purposes (not professional just scrapbook and photo album prints)
I have two questions though;
1. Is there a freeware program, or a way through gimp, that I can batch convert multiple files up to 300ppi.
2. Why when I change the ppi of a photo does the filesize become larger? Surely the ppi is just a reference number to know how many pixels to display and to convert for printing?

I have one picture of my office building and one picture of an airplane . I want to make the airplane fly and crash into the building and explode. If it's possible to make it in GIMP, how can i do it?
More importantly - how is this technique called? jpg animation? I'm new to graphic editing and don't even know how to name certain things or techniques, so i need some keywords for further research.
I'm also have adobe premiere elements, would this application be useful in creating such projects from pure jpg images?

What I'd like to do is adjust the color and brightness/contrast of many layers of an animation. Now, for a still image with many layers I know you can generally add a partially transparent layer over the whole thing, however, since it's an animated .gif I have to do the same thing to each individual layer. I could probably go through and do it by hand and just get it over with. But, I'm curious if there's a feature for this, or is there a plugin that can repeat actions for multiple layers?

trying to do a script to save time on image analysis. I need to convert RGB JPG or TIF files into grayscale mode and save them as BMP. I have hundreds of images to convert before doing the analysis.
I tried to adapt a French script by Frédéric Bisson. However, this is my first attempt to use a script, so I probably messed up the translation, as when I try it I get the message "Error while executing script-fu-comet:; Error: not enough arguments".
The script:
; Definition of acceptable extensions
(define COMET-EXTENSIONS
'("jpg" "JPG" "JPEG" "tif" "TIF" "XCF" "PNG")
[Code]....

I'm trying to create a series of sphere images that are to be used as an animation, whereas in my case I have a transparent background layer and a layer containing a sphere. Then I want to add a 15 degree rotation for each new image. The problem is that every time I select the rotate tool and click on the image to enter the value, the sphere is moved slightly.

When merging photos (RAW files) from LR3 in CS4 then all the modifications done to the photos (files) are reconized in CS4 and the Panorama has the same appearance in respect of exposure and color parameters.
When merging photos (RAW files) from LR4 in CS4 then the modifications done to the photos in LR4 (files) are not reconized in CS4 and the Panorama has the appearance of the untreated photos, same as imported. CS4 does not recognice, implement the LR4 modifications!
I need first to export the photos to an other format and then merge them so that the LR modifications are implemented.

I have a folder of 50 images. The images are all different sizes and dimensions (ranging from about 400x600 to 1600x900).
Separately, I have a little design on a canvas in HD dimensions (1920x1080).
The end goal is just to be able to lay out all the photos on the center of the canvas as 50 new individual images (with the HD dimensions of the background canvas).
Obviously, to load in 50 unique images and then export each of them would take a long time. So I was hoping that there is a way to both (a) automatically combine multiple unique images to a common background, and then (b) export them all.

I've been trying to make a banner for Etsy using a couple of my own photos but I can't seem to get more than one photo to cooperate.
Here's the tutorial I've been using: How to Produce an Etsy Shop Banner in GIMP
I'm able to get the first photo situated but when I try to add more, the image won't scale down correctly like the first one did. Am I doing something wrong? Can I even add multiple photos to the same banner using this method?

these are two photos combined from separate shots to create a panorama. unfortunately, the photographer must have shot the two photos at different times in the day or did some sort of different aperture/shutter speed settings or something, as the exposures are quite different. but it's not just a question of using brightness/contrast... the tone of the two photos are completely off. i've used brightness/contrast and just about when i get the background pretty close, the foreground is way off, and vice-versa. i also tried using adjustments with a gradient map, and selecting different tones, but it still won't do it just right. how to match the tone of the two photos perfectly so it looks like they are one photo, obviously. they need to appear completely continuous.

I have stiched together six photos to make a panorama photo. When I go to print that combination photo only one of the six photo shows up in the Print window. Only one photo is printed, not the panorama one. I tried using the Finder > Print box and the copy of the panorama photo I had in a folder on the my desktop. That worked. I want to use photo paper for the print and make some adjustments, that doesn't work from the Finder > Print selection. The original panorama photo was a TIFF file and ended up to be 155MB, but I made a copy in JPEG and that file was 13.2MB.

I usually import several image frames using the 'Open as layers' command. However, I notice that my layer are always ordered in the reverse manner. For instance, when I import 700 images as layers, image number 700 is assigned as layer 1 and image number 1 is assigned as layer 700. Is there a way for me to completely reverse this layer ordering?

I need to crop multiple images to the same size and perhaps adjust the position of the crop rectangle a little bit for each image. It seems that gimp forces you to destroy the previous crop rectangle position and size when you start a new crop operation. Is there a way around this?

1. I am making a .gif with 57 images [black silhouette] with a white background. Is there any way I can remove the background from all of the images at once (like a batch tool) rather than going through each one of them?
2. If I make a change to one image i.e. crop an image and resize it, is there a way to effect that change to all of the images Vs going through each one?

So, for example, when I copy and paste a picture onto Gimp, I can edit it any way I want. But when I copy and paste another picture on, when I try to use the tools, it only works on the first picture. So I ended up editing the pictures one by one on separate files, then put them together, but now, i need them on the same file so I can get the size right. How do I fix this (or can I not)?

I have scoured the net for any Script-Fu or Batch to do this, and only find old code that is no longer good for gimp 2.6. For some absolutely insane reason (as far as I am concerned), gimp has failed time and time again (since their inception) to actually make it available to export multiple images at the same time. I literally have 300 layers, and for me to crop them all and save them as images would take an entire day.
Why hasn't this been made available? Is there any code or anything I can use to accomplish this task in Gimp 2.6? Photoshop allows it, and has since its inception! Why not Gimp? Is it that difficult to create? Are there really no plugins to do this?

I've successfully merged a sequence of photos taken along the shoreline of Yellowstone Lake using the Photoshop Elements 11 Photomerge Panorama facility. Alignment is perfect but the sky has gone wrong at one or two boundaries.
The sky is there in both the adjoining photos and I'm sure I could do a better job than Elements if I could adjust the mask boundaries and get rid of the existing smudged area, but I can't find out how to do that.

I was sent a detailed map in dwg format that shows a river in the country. The model has a layer called sheets that has 17 rectangles in many orientations which overlap and cover the data i wish to print. There is a layout tab called "Sheet 2 to 17" which show page 17 with a tempalte when the pointer is over the tab similar to Windows 7 Aero, but if you open the layout the page space is blank. I'm not familiar with the use of a layer to break the drawing into multpile overlapping sheets and my end goal is to print the model as the 17 defined sheets on 11 x 17 paper.
