I usually import several image frames using the 'Open as layers' command. However, I notice that my layer are always ordered in the reverse manner. For instance, when I import 700 images as layers, image number 700 is assigned as layer 1 and image number 1 is assigned as layer 700. Is there a way for me to completely reverse this layer ordering?
View 3 RepliesWhen I try to move layers or groups under an open layer group, it ends up inside that group instead. For example:Drag Group 3 between Group 1 and Group 2. It ends up inside Group 2, below Layer 2.Drag Group 3 between Background and Group 1. It ends up inside Group 1, below Layer 1.The only workarounds are:Close the layer group.Use Cmd-[ to move it "down" once more.
It seems to me there should be a more intuitive way to move layers, based on the indentation of the groups. Dragging a layer on a divider in the green area should move it at the top level, above background.Dragging a layer in the blue area should move it inside Group 1.Dragging a layer in the magenta area should move it inside Group 2.
Dragging a layer in the orange area should move it inside Group 3.The appropriate section of the divider should highlight to indicate where the layer will end up (currently the entire divider is highlighted)
What are the restrictions on rearraging images in Survey mode? I could not figure out why it would sometines work and sometimes doesn't.
For example, I have a main top directory 2012 and in it a folder for each month. If I am in GRID view at the 2012 level and choose images in Survey mode, I cannot rearrange them. But I am in GRID view in one of the subfolders, then I can.
Is this normal? Am I doing anything wrong?
I have a web page and weekly I upload multiple Images. Like 300 or more.
The problem is that I have to put down each picture the watermark, The web page name.
How can I make on a quick step to ad the layer to all the images on the same place?
But Im trying to watermark my still pictures of a gif i created, and whenever I add text to one image, I dont know how to make the text "bleed through" to the other images so I wont have to replace them in the same place ect. it always looks sloppy and out of place whenever I re-type the text into a different image.

I want to prepare mutliple images for press release, that include a small border wtih copyright information. Simply every photo i work on must be submitted with a small border and the same text indicating copyright on all of them.
I import from light room and use a batch action to create the border. Thats simple enough, is it possilbe to create an action or script so that can i drop in a text layer into each of the images without a manually copying the layer text and pasting it into each file ... one at a time .
I need to crop multiple images to the same size and perhaps adjust the position of the crop rectangle a little bit for each image. It seems that gimp forces you to destroy the previous crop rectangle position and size when you start a new crop operation. Is there a way around this?

2. If I make a change to one image i.e. crop an image and resize it, is there a way to effect that change to all of the images Vs going through each one?
So, for example, when I copy and paste a picture onto Gimp, I can edit it any way I want. But when I copy and paste another picture on, when I try to use the tools, it only works on the first picture. So I ended up editing the pictures one by one on separate files, then put them together, but now, i need them on the same file so I can get the size right. How do I fix this (or can I not)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have scoured the net for any Script-Fu or Batch to do this, and only find old code that is no longer good for gimp 2.6. For some absolutely insane reason (as far as I am concerned), gimp has failed time and time again (since their inception) to actually make it available to export multiple images at the same time. I literally have 300 layers, and for me to crop them all and save them as images would take an entire day.
Why hasn't this been made available? Is there any code or anything I can use to accomplish this task in Gimp 2.6? Photoshop allows it, and has since its inception! Why not Gimp? Is it that difficult to create? Are there really no plugins to do this?

I am making groups of graphs for a project, and I want to re-arrange which graphs are in which files. (So let's say right now I have:
file 1: gaphs A,B,C,D
file 2: graphs E,F,G,H
But I want:
file 1: graphs A,B,G,H
file 2: graphs C,D,E,F
Each graph is made up of about 10 layers, so I'd like to move groups between the files together as one unit.
Is it possible to merge two images, each as a layer into an image file?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a task that I repeat all the time, where I have about 20 digital photos that are all taken of something the same size, at the same magnification, but not centered identically. I then need similarly centered, identical size and shape cropped images for all of the images. In Photoshop, a friend with the exact same task solves this by opening all of the images, making a rectangular selection of the appropriate size and shape by eye on the first image, and then dragging this rectangular selection from this first image into each other open images and hand-positioning in each image as he drags it in, so that all of the selections for cropping the images are the same shape and size, and can be individually positioned, rapidly. This exact solution is perfect for this task, and although it works great in Photoshop, selections can't be dragged intact from image to image in the same way in gimp 2.6.11 on ubuntu 11.04/gnome 2.32.1/linux 2.6.38-8 generic , so I am looking for a way to accomplish something similar.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a long and complicated road trip timelapse photo set I'm converting to an animation. That i've managed to sort out. However I also have some panoramas that i took here and there. I'm trying to take these panoramas (about 11 of them) into their component images,but with an overlap so that they will be in the animation appearing as a pan.
So I have about a dozen of these fairly wide images (2096 x 544 for one of them), and each of these i want to split into about ten images with a reasonable "overlap".
Given the amount of potential images, and my desire to have a smooth pan, making composite images manually wouldn't really work.
I've been using ifranview to bulk crop and resize images but i couldn't work out a way to do this so I switched to GIMP, which I'm not great with.
I've grabbed the guidelines every x pixels script and guillotine into layers plugin, hoping I could guillotine across multiple guideline "units" but all it's given me is dozens of vertical slices of the image.
I could merge and duplicate them but that would take ages.
At the moment I'm thinking my best option is to put the guidelines on and use selections to snap to guidelines and paste as seperate layers, then save all the layers as seperate files. However that still seems very slow and clunky and i'm wondering if there's a better way.
I seem to be unable to rename either layers or images if they are being exported. When I use alphabet letters to rename a layer, for example, GIMP toggles through tools. It is using shortcuts to open different things? . I have something checked or unchecked that will allow alphabetic renaming....where do I look ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use the grid view to reorder photos then rename them so I have the corrrect sequence number for each image as part of the name. After I have been doing this for an hour or so (on various folders of images) Lightroom gives me an error message saying: "Reorder photos by dragging from within the grid view, not by dragging from another source". The images are not from multiple folders and I am gragging within the grid view same as I was doing moments before it simply stopped working. Subsequent attempts to drag are met simply with silence. No more error messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reorder the parts in an assembly with tube & pipe fittings, i want to put them in folders.
The problem is that i can't drag & drop the fittings, i can add them to folders when all the parts are together but i can't move those folders around after that either.
The fittings get this special T&P content icon, other CC parts (with the "book" icon) can move around like i want.
Is there a way to make the T&P fittings act like normal CC parts, so i can reorder them?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems selecting images in the library module when multiple images are in view (not down in the timeline, but in the main window). It seems sporadic with which ones it won't let me select, it somehow manages to be the ones that I need to click....!! I just literally can't click it as if it were an image I already imported or something, but it's not grayed out like that. I've been having to select a nearby image then use my arrow keys to navigate to and click the image I need.

For instance if I select 10 images to view in the survey mode to compare and select 1 to be flagged as rejected all 10 will be flagged rejected, not just the one. Is there a way to turn this off to select a group of images and flag each differently?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHi, I am starting a new business making art prints for artists. I have purchased this huge printer ... just got it. I've been studying photoshop for months using "classroom in a book" and am finding out that I've probably studied the wrong thing.
I have three questions and thanks in advance for any of your expertise.
1. I successfully printed out a two foot by two foot photo I took of my husband with my 8.2 megapixel camera. Then, tried to print out another photo.... used the same photoshop settings, but the print was 6 inches by 6 inches...... I did notice that the second print was only 16. %... I wondered if that caused the difference in size? How do I set that to 100 % if that is what is needed?
2. I want to print out multiple small prints using this big paper and printer... I want to tile these various prints (all different) along the top making rows... I want them to be all different. I called Epson support and they said I could do that in photoshop. Do I use the browser?
3. I have a wide format scanner. It does up to 11 x 17 inches. If I have something larger to scan, let's say, I scan the bottom of the image and then scan the top of the image, how do I put them together?
I would like to make a composite image with source images making up the various layers (so I can work my magic on each layer indepent of the others). The problem I have is that not all of the images I'm using are to the right scale. What I want to do is resize those layers that are too big. Here's an example...
Let's say I have 5 pictures that I want to use to make one composite image from. The main background layer will be made from an image that is, say 800x600.
Another picture (let's call this subject 1) is 600x600 and is already at the right scale if I cut out the portion I want to keep and lay it on top of the background layer.
Yet another picture (subject 2) is huge (think 2000x2000). I would like to cut out the portion I would like to use and drop it in as a new layer and then obviously re-size it down to the correct scale. I'd prefer to do this directly in the composite image I'm making on its own layer to ensure I get the size right (and without manipulating the image guess-work style before I cut/paste it in).And so on...
I've found ways to make the canvas bigger (not what I want to do)... but not anything on how to resize the images on individual layers without impacting the other layers. Is there a way to do this?
