GIMP :: Merge Two Images As A Layer
Jul 19, 2013Is it possible to merge two images, each as a layer into an image file?

View 1 RepliesI have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I'm looking for a plugin that will merge one layer with all of the individual layers below it. So this would be the equivalent of duplicating one layer multiple times and then moving each duplicate between all the layers below and then merging the duplicate layers down to each original individual layer.
It could be seen as putting an ace on top of the deck, duplicating that ace 51 times, and then putting a duplicate ace in between each of the cards below and then merging each duplicate ace card down to each of the other individual 51 cards below in the deck.
I've found allot of nice multi-layer plugins (Like "LayerGroups") on the GIMP plugin registry that have worked doing things that I need, but now I'm looking for this one on the GIMP plugin registry and I'm not having any luck.
What's the difference between merge layer and flatten image?Especially in terms of saving the image. I understend that flatten image simply takes things down to one layer but what is partucularly different about merge?
The other thing is is it possible to distort just a portion of an image rather than the whole thing. Say for example to lengthen someones neck only? The only way I've found is to cut a selection then move things around leaving a gap that has to be filled using clone etc. Is there some way of stretching and compressing just portions of the image?
I've downloaded some texture maps of Earth and Mars that consist of a number of JPG images that are all 1024 pixels square. What I want to do, and I've tried and failed so far, is to combine the separate images to make one big map of the planet surfaces. I assume this will be possible by tiling the images.
I've had a google around but can't find any tutorials related to combining sections of a map together.
I am making groups of graphs for a project, and I want to re-arrange which graphs are in which files. (So let's say right now I have:
file 1: gaphs A,B,C,D
file 2: graphs E,F,G,H
But I want:
file 1: graphs A,B,G,H
file 2: graphs C,D,E,F
Each graph is made up of about 10 layers, so I'd like to move groups between the files together as one unit.
I usually import several image frames using the 'Open as layers' command. However, I notice that my layer are always ordered in the reverse manner. For instance, when I import 700 images as layers, image number 700 is assigned as layer 1 and image number 1 is assigned as layer 700. Is there a way for me to completely reverse this layer ordering?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to be unable to rename either layers or images if they are being exported. When I use alphabet letters to rename a layer, for example, GIMP toggles through tools. It is using shortcuts to open different things? . I have something checked or unchecked that will allow alphabetic renaming....where do I look ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm following instructions for creating a 3D Earth and Moon in CS4. Everything works until I Merge the two 3D Layers. No matter what the layer order, the smaller 3D object (moon) always disappears. Before merging layers, the moon is a few inches left of the earth on the top layer (also tried it with earth on the top layer).
What the heck am I doing wrong? On the merged layer texture, I can see both textures, but only the earth is visibile. I've even used the 3D tools to rotate the earth and see if the moon was placed behind the earth. It is not. Any suggestions?
I am starting to learn Photoshop. How to merge two different images in Photoshop?

I'm trying to merge two images in PS CS5 on a mac. They're the same size and everything, but when I try dragging the image across no new layer gets created. When I create a layer and try dragging that I get a message saying the destination file can't accept it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two photo images (from one raw file, one adjust for the foreground, the other under expose to recover the sky):
The rock:
The sky:
(I actually use Linear Burn layer blend mode to get the rock totally black).
Now How to merge these two image together? I try putting the rock image on top and the sky image on bottom, manually selecting the white sky in the rock image and deleting it to show the sky in the layer below. But I end up with halo around the edge of the sky like this:
The closest I get is Different layer blend mode: the rock is correct but the sky gets inverse. What is the trick to get the two merged and not get halo?
I created a composite image using several of my photos. I work using levels and I had one image each on its own level. I needed to merge two images to create the effect that they were one - a running stream was one (a sort of earth tone tint) and a small waterfall cascading over some rocks was the other (a more warmer orange-ish tint). I thought I used a level merge command but when the two levels were merged, the coloring on the images matched (the earth tone tint)! I can't for the life of me remember what I did! I've tried auto-blend but the top image just disappears and photomerge doesn't look familiar.

I create a .net automation application to print to pdf with layers. There are more 30+ layers in the drawing, I like to have the layer information in the pdf file but like to merge them to a couple:
e.g.
PDF Layer 1 show AutoCAD Layer A1, A2, A3, ...,
PDF Layer 2 show AutoCAD Layer B1, B2, B3, ...,
PDF Layer 3 show AutoCAD Layer C1, C2, C3, ...,
...
I think there will be 3 solution here:
a) merge them at the time of AutoCAD printing
b) merge layer in pdf
c) create bookmark in pdf. I have used iTestSharp to generate PDF file, merge PDF files but cannot find a solution for this. How I can do it programmically?
I'm trying to merge text from a 2D layer down to a 3D layer.
When I do, the text becomes the color of the diffuse layers color.
I have also duplicated the same effect in the simplest form.
Using a donut / sphere / cone / 3D object from New Shape from Layer.
I've tried .ai .psd objects which all seem to merge into the color of the selected diffuse color for the material being merged into.
I've even tried the bump setting to see if it would stamp the object shape.
any way to merge visible layers to a new layer, yet retain the layers that merged? Does that make sense. So if I want to merge layer 1, 2, 3 into a new layer 4. Can I create a layer 4 with all layers merged as one, yet still have 1, 2, and 3.
I'm looking for a menu item or shortcut to do this.
Having trouble with the layer merge command. I haven't used it since we upgraded to 2008. I try it on my computer and it doesnt work. Then my boss tried it on his station and it didn't work there either. It recognizes the command but when you click a target it does nothing and just goes back to a clean command prompt.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just took three images of a sunset so that I could create a panorama image. When I use photomerge in photoshop cs6, only two images merge together and the third image is left by itself. I overlapped each image a sufficient amount but I still can't merge the third image.
Here is a screenshot of the end result. Am I not overlapping enough, or is there something I am doing wrong?
i am trying to merge the two images into one smooth one here in photoshop, but cant seem to do it
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor my work, I use a microscope that scans a slide to take an image. It takes around 20 photos and creates a single image, but each one is still clearly visible as an individual image within the overall one, due to shadowing etc. and imperfect alignment of the images. Is there a way to correct this across the whole image, at least to remove the shadowing if not the alignment?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI shot landscape images for a panorama of 4 rows with 6 images in each row. The first image on the top row includes the top of a tree, but the other 5 images only has sky. Photomerge will not merge the 5 images of the top row because it only has sky in the image. I can merge the bottom 4 rows without a problem and can include the first image on the top row, but not the others.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI attempted to search but didn't find much on the topic. I'm using Photoshop 7.0, I believe. I did find a tutorial for 5.5 on the 'net somewhere, but it didn't seem to help as some of the exact commands/tools may have changed.
Anyway I'm attempting to superimpose 2 images (same pixel size) that I have used layer properties to make semi-transparent, and I'd like to copy/paste one of them into the other one, and then make it so that you can see both, as they are both transparent ....
I am using Bridge to merge two images into PS as a HDR image. I have done this with multiple images (RAW and TIFF). I am consistently getting screwy results. The image drops almost all detail and a TON of artifacts get dropped in. I am attaching a quick photo which is a brick front of a building.

I'm used to doing it with Photoshop. I thought the merge in Pathfinder would work but apparently not
After making several adjustment layers, the layer merge is performed. However, it is observed that the colour changed after layer merging. It is confirmed with the histogram. This phenomenon also happens in layer flatten.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is an embarrassing question as i'm sure it's a basic photoshop tool, but I can't figure out how to take crops out of images, and merge them together to form one photo.
I have 4 photos of individual people, and I want to take equal 'slices' of them to merge into one- but still keeping the image the same size as a photo.
I know that my photo sizes are 3543px by 2362 px, and I know how to crop the images to the right size (885.75px by 2362px) but how to combine them.
Should I be using layers? I'm using CS4
I want to make id cards, I use coreldraw x4 and use Microsoft Office to create a merge.A single sheet of A4 size paper I printed 10 id cards with different identities and different photo. Whether it can be made in Corel merge different images by using an add-in that is not paid or free? If there is where can I download?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is probably a really basic one - and I'm sure I've read how to do this here before in a really simple way, but I can't re-find the post after some time searching: I have two photos side by side on two different layers, and I simply want to create a fade between one and the other over an overlapping area of about 10mm. I have tried selecting one layer, and using the gradient tool, but I am doing something wrong as this seems to affect all layers; ie it works fine on one layer, but the other layer gets faded out too. I'm sure I have to create a new layer or something and perform the gradient on that, or maybe I have the wrong gradient settings.
Or do I process both photos in separate files, and then bring them in to a new file and overlap them?
