In AutoCAD 2014 when I try to do a Layer Merge To.. in the Layers Properties - the 'Merge selected layer(s) to...' is greyed out and can not be selected when I right click after selecting the layer(s) I want to merge.
View 4 RepliesIn autocad 2013 there was a pull down menu in the layer panel for layer states. 2014 does not have that. How to get that to show up in 2014? I also need the pull down menu for dimension styles.
Unless im missing something it seems like it takes more move to do some basic stuff in 2014.
Running Autocad LT 2014 on Win 7 64bit..I believe the Layer States Manager/Editor is broken...
I created 5 layers and drew 5 lines in model space. Then assigned each line to a different layer. I then created 5 new layer states. When I edit those layer states in the layer state manager, I turned on only one layer for each layer state... When I got out of the layer state manager and select any of these 5 layer states, all layers are on.. Also when I delete layers in the layer states editor, get out of it, then go back into it, all those layers are back again..
I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
Happens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

I have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I'm following instructions for creating a 3D Earth and Moon in CS4. Everything works until I Merge the two 3D Layers. No matter what the layer order, the smaller 3D object (moon) always disappears. Before merging layers, the moon is a few inches left of the earth on the top layer (also tried it with earth on the top layer).
 What the heck am I doing wrong? On the merged layer texture, I can see both textures, but only the earth is visibile. I've even used the 3D tools to rotate the earth and see if the moon was placed behind the earth. It is not. Any suggestions?
I create a .net automation application to print to pdf with layers. There are more 30+ layers in the drawing, I like to have the layer information in the pdf file but like to merge them to a couple:
e.g.
PDF Layer 1 show AutoCAD Layer A1, A2, A3, ...,
PDF Layer 2 show AutoCAD Layer B1, B2, B3, ...,
PDF Layer 3 show AutoCAD Layer C1, C2, C3, ...,
...
I think there will be 3 solution here:
a) merge them at the time of AutoCAD printing
b) merge layer in pdf
c) create bookmark in pdf. I have used iTestSharp to generate PDF file, merge PDF files but cannot find a solution for this. How I can do it programmically?
Having trouble with the layer merge command. I haven't used it since we upgraded to 2008. I try it on my computer and it doesnt work. Then my boss tried it on his station and it didn't work there either. It recognizes the command but when you click a target it does nothing and just goes back to a clean command prompt.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThere's a layer in the drawing we received from the surveyor that doesn't match the client's standards. When I try to merge it with another layer or delete the layer, the command stops as soon as I pick a line on the layer. There are no objects visible on the layer so it may part of a style. I don't think it's part of a block as the surveyor used the client's blocks.

Personally I do not need these layers for my access is there anyway I can combine all these to eliminate the large quantity of layers in my file? Say by layer merging. And if I do will this affect the ability of the file to revise itself?
Explanation: What I am doing is taking a bunch of engineering drawings, XREF them into my file, then creating seperate viewports for each drawing referenced in. But the key is I need these files to adjust automatically when the engineers make changes (This is done through the XREF command from what I gathered from one of my previous posts).
In my AutoCAD 2014, after selecting a grip on an object or a point it will snap to other grip points even when osnap is turned off. Is there a command or variable to turn what appears to be an auto grip snap function off?

The idw contains its own template, views, dimensions, details and cuts.
Upon opening in 2014 to release details of the scale is changed randomly and the views are out of the leaf.
i made some 3d modelling in autocad 2014 in the 3d drawing mode but i have some difficulty in modifying the dimensions of the subobjects.
1 method that i already know is to use the scale gizmo which works but not much as i am not able to set the exact dimensions i need. it only scales the subobject according to the previous size.

I've a problema with autocad 2014 when I start it all programs are freezing about a variable period fron 30s at 1min.
With autocad 2013 I don't has problems.
My instructor taught us to attach images with materials rendering tool to add jpegs to our 3d modelling. Every time I try to use it, it stretches my image to nothing but horizontal lines and despite trying to modify it with the texture editor it eventually colllapses the autocad. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have problem with compatibility this two versions of civil 3D. Files created in C3D 2013 then modified in 2014 don't want to open in C3D 2013. Files contain many civil objects: shortcuts, corridors. During opening occurs fatal error.
There is no problem with files which were created in C3D 2014 from the begining only modified in C3D 2014.
I'm running AutoCAD 2014 (part of AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2014), & it occasionally freezes on me. I haven't figured out how to reproduce it regularly yet, but it is somewhat predictable. When I run a list routine that opens a dialog box, if I press Escape immediately after the dialog box appears, AutoCAD quits responding & I have to force it to close with the task manager. It doesn't always happen, but it has become a semi-regular event. I've previously used AutoCAD 2010 Mechanical & AutoCAD 2012 (part of Structural Detailing 2012) before with the same routines on this machine with no issue.

AutoCAD 2014 doesn't seem to be noticably more resource intensive than 2012 was, so I don't think that's my issue. I'm just trying to make a habit of saving more often & not accidentally running the wrong command.

In the setup.ini file look for the following line

Remove ADSYNC; from that line so you are left with:

I do this operation. I uncheck on my deployment Autodesk 360 on AutoCAD.But when I try to install AutoCAD he still install the Autodesk 360.
When I search on my deployment folder all the setup.ini. I found 5 of them.But only 1 have the line that I change.
