AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor In Cross Sections Not Updating Automatically (2014)
Jul 11, 2013When opening a drawing that has corridor model xrefed in, the corridor section is not updating automatically.
If I reload the xref, it updates.
If I manually synchronize the alignment, it updates.
But just opening the drawing, it does not update.
I have even tried using the OTB tutorial drawings. Same problem.
Not having cross sections update automatically?

Have to manually reload xref after opening drawing to get sections to change.

AutoCAD 2013 :: 2013 To 2014 Hatch Pattern File Migration?
Jul 1, 2013I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Copy Settings And Toolbars From 2013 To 2014?
Dec 20, 2013Happens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Updating Block (19 Drawings)
Jan 9, 2014I have a block that has to be update in a bunch of drawings -more than 20-. I updated in only one drawing, apply coy paste to the following but the block does not update in the drawing that I am pasting my new block. How is possible to update this block in the following 19 drawings?

Nov 7, 2013Updating the attached dwg (Xref),The file Q1 is attached to the file Q5 (attached). Edits are applied to the Q1. These edits are not transferred to the Q5 despite the fact that the “regenerate” button is pressed.
What might be the issue here? How the edits on the Xref files are reflected directly to where they are attached?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Fields In Block Not Updating?
Sep 6, 2012I've made a block with fields linked to attributes (so when I change the value of the "master" attribute, the field values will change).
*NOTE* the fields are contained within a piece of MTEXT and NOT within another attribute.
The fields will not read the "value" of the attributes they are connected to, unless I explode the block (and change the DEFAULT value), or use regular text instead of attributes.
FIELDEVAL - set to 31
UPDATEFIELD - returns: "2 fields found, 2 fields updated" but it doesn't actually update them.
Regen/Regenall/Save - does nothing
BATTMAN - SYNC - does nothing
Lastly, I noticed that if I use "loose" text outside the block, but still link the fields (that are inside the block) to that text, they will update when I change the text contents after regen. AutoCAD is just having trouble using fields+attributes.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Linetypes Updating In Xrefs?
Sep 10, 2012Using project navigator my drawings get xrefed from the constructs, through the views, and finally to the sheets tab.
I recently realized that I needed to fix / change my linetypes on 5 different drawings starting at the construct. When I had finally finished fixing the layer linetype / line LTscale / drawing LTscale to get it to look exactly the way that I wanted, I had to go through my views drawings, and the sheets drawings, detach the xrefs, re-attach them, and then modify the layers to the colours that I wanted.
Some people had the same problem about 10 years ago in this thread, and the poster at the bottom sums it all up nicely. This is not a VISRETAIN issue. I just want changes to my linetype changes to flow through all xrefs, just as if I had moved a line.

I would like to see a setting added to CAD that would allow linetype changes to flow through, and a colour setting that would allow colour changes to flow through. Maybe VISRETAIN is too broad of a command, and needs to be broken down into linetypes, colours, LTScales. etc etc etc.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Reloading Xrefs After Updating Path
Jan 8, 2013After some infrastructure changes, I need to repath all of my xrefs. I know I can easily do this using the Reference Manager, and I have. However, when I open the drawings that I have updated, the xref images (jpg, png, etc) do not display, but rather only show the image border. I must then go into the External References pallette in each drawing and reload each reference. This works fine, but it is awfully clunky, as I must do this for every drawing.
Is there a way I can batch reload these references after updating the path in Reference Manager?
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Slow With Saving And Updating?
Aug 8, 2012I installed IV13 onto four of our workstations including the update 1.
Due to the size and complexity of our project we are using Vault to manage all of our parts and drawings.
We had issues with 2012 but managed to get around them. I was hoping 2013 would solve some of them but we are experiencing extremely slow performance with 2013. It takes at least 15 to 20 minutes to open and update drawings. Swopping between an assembly and IDW to do updates takes another 20 minutes to refresh and update.
This is happening on all four of the workstations.
I have come across a few forums with this same issue and I have tried setting up the options as described in them but have had no difference in performance.

Jul 13, 2012projected geometry not updating between sketches in inventor 2013. I hope this will be fixed in 2013 sp1. I have noticed it happening alot when I project a line of another sketch that makes a single point in my new sketch. once the original skecth is changed the second one doesnt update sometimes. It doesnt do this 100 percent of the time just when I need to get stuff done.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Creation Error After Updating To 2013-SP2
Sep 13, 2013The company I work for recently updated a few of our computers with the SP2 for Civil 3D 2013. After this update, every time I create a surface profile, things get all messed up. Like I have done dozens of times before, I create the profile then open the profile creation tools. I am using the draw tangents with curves tool and as soon as I click my first tangent point, it shows up about an inch over to the left. I have struggled through and used the grips to edit after the fact but this used to be a VERY easy task. FYI my snap isn't on or anything goofy like that and when opened on a computer without the service pack, it works as it should.

Nov 7, 2012In the drawings for my company, we will list notes along once side of the page using multiline text as a numbered list. Each number corresponds to a label I then use to mark up my drawings. My label is usually some sort of symbol with a number inside of it. Pretty standard. My problem is, when I want to add a note somewhere in the middle of this list, the numbering changes for everything after the insertion point and I have to go through the drawing and update each label individually. On complicated drawings I want to make sure I don't miss updating a label or see if there is a faster way to update everything. Is there a way to have a label of some sorts with a number that automatically updates to match a certain note so if I add a note in between or delete a note I don't have to change every single note?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2013 - General Segment Grade Text Component Not Updating
Oct 29, 2012I extracted a dynamic feature line from the gutter flowline of my Corridor. I labeled Multiple Segments for the feature line with a grade and vertex style that uses the "General Segment Grade" text component.
I am overiding lane cross slopes in the Section Editior and the segment grade labels for the extracted feature line do not update after I Update Corridor in the Section Editior.
If I raise/lower the CL profile of the corridor, the label updates. Just not reacting to these Corridor edits.
Peculiar behavior: The label will update to reflect the Corridor update if I Isolate it.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Text Style Width Factor And DText / Attribute Updating
Sep 26, 2012I am trying to get DText objects to update width factor when I change the Width Factor of the Text Style. We have one style (Simplex) & I hoped to be able to set the width factor of that style to 0.8 or 1.2 depending on what is required and then just insert objects from the tool palette so they have the correct width factor.
This seems to work for MText but not for DText or Attributes. Short of using lisp is there a to update the width factor of DText & Attributes? (hoping to be able to do this on LT also)
Only way I can see for DText is to qselect text and change style to something else and back to Simplex. Only way for attributes I've found is to advance edit block and change text style to something else and back.

1 method that i already know is to use the scale gizmo which works but not much as i am not able to set the exact dimensions i need. it only scales the subobject according to the previous size.

There is no problem with files which were created in C3D 2014 from the begining only modified in C3D 2014.
AutoCAD 2013 :: ESC On Lsp Dialog Box Freezes 2014
Dec 12, 2013I'm running AutoCAD 2014 (part of AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2014), & it occasionally freezes on me. I haven't figured out how to reproduce it regularly yet, but it is somewhat predictable. When I run a list routine that opens a dialog box, if I press Escape immediately after the dialog box appears, AutoCAD quits responding & I have to force it to close with the task manager. It doesn't always happen, but it has become a semi-regular event. I've previously used AutoCAD 2010 Mechanical & AutoCAD 2012 (part of Structural Detailing 2012) before with the same routines on this machine with no issue.

AutoCAD 2014 doesn't seem to be noticably more resource intensive than 2012 was, so I don't think that's my issue. I'm just trying to make a habit of saving more often & not accidentally running the wrong command.
