AutoCad 3D :: Joining Angled Objects / Close Gap So It Looks Like Seamless Piece?
Aug 25, 2012
I'm just starting with ACAD 3d. I'm trying to draw a handle for a ball valve. The handle has a horizontal piece and an angled piece. In the attachment, you'll see that there's a gap where the two pieces meet. How can I close the gap so it looks like a seamless piece?

how to make 45 degree angle lines that I want to embed into my background. Well thats easy enough. But I need to make them so that they are seamless so that if a browser window is 600 or 6000 wide the lines will still fill the whole page on the background colour.

I am trying to draw a circle on an angled face on a valve I made, and am not too sure of the best way to do it.
Here is a front view showing the angle. I need to use the face at the top that is on a 22* angle or so
[URL]
Here is a top view showing the 10 holes I need to make at the proper angle. The blue lines are showing where each of my holes will need to be with a fitting on it as well

I'm an Archicad User and I'm evaluating Revit at the moment as I'm interested in a better integration with other Autodesk products.I have two questions though that Google and the Docs couldn't answer me.
1- I have an Annotated Region (a polygon), how can I annotate an angled measure of an edge? I've tried the aligned dimension tool and this link: URL....
2- What's the proper way to join a point of an edge to another edge without changing the length? (somehow to 'rotate' an edge around one point and 'snap' the other point to another edge). I'm using a circle tool and snapping to intersection at the moment.
Also, I know this isn't the best place to ask, but is Revit worth the change? I mean, i'm completely satisfied with Archicad and so far Revit isn't very intuitive at all and the workflow seems it's never going to be on-par with Archicad, I'm considering the change solely for the fact that Revit may have a much better integration with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, and other Autodesk softwares.

I have a compost pad and retention pond to design, I set my back Pad line to surface and then graded to elevation so the slope to the pond will have no cuts
I created a pond and left out the grading to surface on the up hill side towards the pad which will be paved one day. I now created two side feature lines to enclose the whole pad and graded by distance and slope.
My problem now is the two side and back seem to blend together as I attached the feature lines together but I can not figure out how to blend into the pond create as it has side slopes to EG and the front which must join to the side slope crest to enclose the pad to drain into the pond.

Im creating plans for a new entryway and so that I have some perspective on how it will all join together i'm also creating a 3d model of my entry idea. In order to move things around to get a better view of how im planning on building this entry, I joined studs together so that I can move things around in the viewport without having to select each object. I know I can grab all the objects at the same time to move but I was wondering IF there is a way to union objects so that they dont lose the lines between joining objects. For example if 2 - 2x8 studs are next to each other and I were to union them, then they would plot as a 4 x 8 instead of 2 - 2 x 8's OR is there a way to maintain lines after union?

I have two cubes in two different layers so that one is red and one is blue. I want to attach these two cubes together at a surface, but keep that interface between them in the rendering (not just have them combine to form a continuous object with no interfaces).

I was editing my largest project to date (I'm still well a novice) and once I needed to remove a middle portion I realized how in the heck can I slide the remainder entire timeline to fit the gap? I tried the slide tools, hand tool, and the track select tool. I know host to highlight the remainder of the timeline.

In the Page & Layer Gallery there are the small eyes to make objects Visible or not. If for example a document has one layer so Layer 1, closing the Visible eye beside the layer, all objects disappear. Which is anyway my target, just in this way the eyes beside individual objects became gray, saying that "click parent to show".
Is there maybe way to close all objects visible with one step, but be able individually open them after? As I can see this works only on that way that if the individual objects are closed one by one, in that way can be opened one by one, but if closed in one on layer level, in that case can be opened only on that level. I would like to avoid close all objects one by one

I am having a problem with an interior scene. It has MR sun and MR sky and 6 photometric free lights, I am also using MR Photographic exposure.
I am experiencing glare in the corners of the room, particularly when an object is close to the walls. I thought I could be the sun bleeding in through tiny gaps between the wall/floor, but I have remodelled the walls twice, and the floor/ceiling.

Print preview shows objects spaced correctly. But when it prints them, it compresses them together on the page (but the objects are sized correctly).
When I print the same file from a different computer on the network to the same printer, the objects are spaced correctly.
Which leads me to conclude it's a setting in CorelDraw on the first computer. Also, I reset all the default settings in CorelDraw using the F8 technique, but that didn't solve the problem.

I am trying to offset two angled walls to 3800mm. When I check the distance by measuring perpendicular between the lines, I get a different distance such as 2217mm.
Should I not be offsetting walls even though they are at 90 degrees to each other?

Bolted connections between two angled surfaces?!?
Is this possible ?!! Ive been working in various CAD packages and have found this to be an issue every time. Say for instance you want to bolt through a wall onto a tapered flange, how can you select a non parallel face as the start or finish surface?

I need to accurately position a point on an angled plane, but the question is how?
I've generated the required planes, the axis to revolve the angled plane around, and of course, the angled plane itself. (See attacment)
I now need to position the point coincident to the generated axis/plane and the angled plane. I have nothing to refer to so I can't project any geometry from any face. (The vee-shaped recess is generated after the slot is extruded and its position is the resut of the breakout against the OD).
How can I do this???

The building plan has been drawn according to North, etc. When I try and draw a rectangle, for example, the rectangle is angled according to North and not vertical and horizontal in the MS.
How do I turn this off. I tried changing VPORT to 0,0 and it rotated the whole drawing with North at the top.

I have just started using Autocad 2010 (i know i know, its not the latest )... but anyways.
I am facing this unique problem where i have a 3d solid object in the drawing, and when the first point in a pline command falls within the boundary of the 3d solid, autocad automatically assigns some of the properties of the 3dsolid to the new polyline i draw.
so for example, in the attached file, even if i am selecting pline command and starting a command within the rectangle (start point shown as a circle), it automatically changes the z coordinates so that the resulting pline is angled to the xy plane.
I a not sure how this happens, and how I can turn it off.

I have many short lwplines on separate layers. I need to join them by layer and then add fit or spline smoothing depending on if they are closed or open. The plines are produced automaticaly in code, so there is nothing else on the layers besides the pline. I am using this code to create a selection set of plines for each layer.
'''If sset Is Nothing Then Set sset = ThisDrawing.SelectionSets.Add("ss1")End Iflifiltertype(0) = 8v(0) = "jhl_11.00_begin"sset.Select acSelectionSetAll, , , lifiltertype, v
I think that I have to use SendCommand to do this. I would like to know the proper syntax to Join, Fit or Spline the plines using my selection set.

I am working on a dynamic bi-fold door block. I have added actions that adjust the two leaves of the door to correspond to different opening widths and allow the jamb width to be adjusted. I am now trying to add flip actions in both directions. There is a regular swing door block in the drawing and I want the bi-fold door to have basically the same functionality as the swing door does.
I can't seem to get the angled stretch actions required for adjusting the opening width to work after flipping. I have tried including the stretch actions in the selection set for the flip but it does not seem to work.

I've recently had to export DWG files to PDF and the lines print in black whether they are angled/curved or straight. The problem I'm experiencing is that a number of objects that have been rotated at an angle or lines that are curved appear dark grey on the screen in PDF format. I'm using the DWG to PDF. pc3 with monochrome setting selected. I've checked the Plot Style Table Editor and all colours have been selected to print 'black'; greyscale is 'off' and screening is at 100%. Is this a 'bug' or is there a fix for this problem?

I need to create a adaptor to go from one 96 hole array pattern to a smaller 96 hole array pattern. The pattern gets smaller in both X and Y. This would go from vertical hole to angled hole back to vertical hole. One or both of the vertical sections could be removable to allow this to be a drilled part. The center section would be a solid block.
Since each hole will be at a different angle (in two different planes) it seems like I would need to create a separate plane for each hole and extrude from that plane. In addition to being error prone, this would take a large amount of time. Is there an easier way?
It would be straightforward to create a block with points for the large 96 hole array on top and the small 96 hole array on the bottom. Is there some kind of point to point method of creating a hole at an angle? A construction line could be drawn point to point but is there a way to make a hole from that?

In this example you can see section B will allow me to pull up dimensions (not sure why they are not aligned) but section A will not allow to me to pull anything.

I wanted to draw a piece of duct....a transition piece to go from circular duct to rectangular duct, and make it so that the circular is offset from the rectangular.
I didn't need anything too pro so i started with a rectangle and a circle, then started drawing a few interconnecting lines. I tried a few 3D commands, but none of my usual seemed appropriate. What loft does?
quick search on yt: [URL].....
click - click - click and it's done! i reckon the whole shape could be done in under a dozen clicks!
gave SHELL a go with it and it's exactly what i was aiming for (never thinking i would get close). i've no idea why it is called 'loft' tho!

I have two halves of a rod that I want to join. They're both objects. What's the best way to fill in the gap between the two halves of the rod? It currently looks like this:
Using the LOFT command obviously just creates a surface between them, however, it doesn't become one model.
