Paint.NET :: Center Text And Image Layer?
Nov 19, 2012I need to centre text and centre an image layer.
View 2 RepliesI need to centre text and centre an image layer.
View 2 RepliesI do a lot of CD designs, and often I have my text centered on the front covers. When I put the text centered, however, PSP is added an extra space to the end of text, so when I center it on the canvas the text is actually off-center to the left. When I go into edit the text, there is no space on the right of the words to delete.
With the text selected this is how it looks: The right edge of the frame should be flush with the right edge of the last 'T'.
It has been a while since I've been here and I REALLY need emergency assistance because my mind has gone completely blank with AGE.
I'm trying to create an action which I will be using for batch processing.
I have an image on which I need to place 3 text layers
The first layer I need to center across the image about 100px from bottom
The second layer I need to center across the image about 300px from bottom
The third layer I need to place about 200px in from the right edge and about 600px from bottom
I'm creating a sprite-sheet and therefore need to be able to focus on certain parts of the image, at a time.
This however, is proving surprisingly difficult as I can't figure out if there is any way to pan my view of the image so that any part of its edges is centralized on my screen. Is there any way to do this or are there any relevant plugins available?
For example, say I had a dot, and I selected it, and it was on a corner of a 500x500 pixel square, how can I center it in the middle of the whole screen?
E.g. ;
_____
|. |
|___|
How can I get that dot to center in the middle?
I've got lots of pages of B&W scanned images that are not quite centered. My usual method for centering them would be:
1. Open image.
2. Ctrl + Shift + N to create a new layer.
3. Select the Paint Bucket tool and fill the new layer with white.
4. Move the new layer down using the arrow button on the Layers window.
5. Select the top layer again by clicking on the Layers window.
6. Select the Move Pixels tool and drag the image until it visually looks centered.
7. Ctrl + M to merge layers down.
8. Save.
Is there any smarter, faster, fewer clicks way of accomplishing this? Is there any way of programming this so I don't have to visually center each page?(Also, I usually have to close and reopen paint.net after about 10 pages because the program isn't freeing all memory when files are closed.)
I have two related questions:
1. I am not able to do a somewhat basic task. I have an image on a seperate layer and I want to merge it, but I want the edges to be more softened.I used to use photoshop deluxe, it had a paint brush with a soft round tip that you could make hard edges softer. Its not like smudge, more like a softer eraser. Is there a way to do that?
2. Is there some way to make any image gradually more transparent either from one edge to another or from the center out? (Like the effect you get using gradient, but with a gradual opacity to an opaque object/image)
I only see options to center text within the text box.
I want to center my text over the image (the canvas).
I'm new to Paint shop. Is it possible to clip an adjustment layer or image to just the layer below it like in Photoshop? Or maybe Paint shop calls it something else?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI would like to make a composite image with source images making up the various layers (so I can work my magic on each layer indepent of the others). The problem I have is that not all of the images I'm using are to the right scale. What I want to do is resize those layers that are too big. Here's an example...
Let's say I have 5 pictures that I want to use to make one composite image from. The main background layer will be made from an image that is, say 800x600.
Another picture (let's call this subject 1) is 600x600 and is already at the right scale if I cut out the portion I want to keep and lay it on top of the background layer.
Yet another picture (subject 2) is huge (think 2000x2000). I would like to cut out the portion I would like to use and drop it in as a new layer and then obviously re-size it down to the correct scale. I'd prefer to do this directly in the composite image I'm making on its own layer to ensure I get the size right (and without manipulating the image guess-work style before I cut/paste it in).And so on...
I've found ways to make the canvas bigger (not what I want to do)... but not anything on how to resize the images on individual layers without impacting the other layers. Is there a way to do this?
i have a few hundreds images i need to watermark. The watermark i can do fine. but i have varying image widths.
I want the watermark to be centralised on the image. I also want to batch the process so i'm trying to work out if it's possible to centralise in an action.
The text tool is not showing my text when used on a new layer.I understand the layer itself is transparent, but thought I could put text on it (allowing me to delete the layer and rebuild that text if I decided the placement didn't work as expected.)I can put text on the canvas itself and that works as expected. All input welcomed. I'm guessing I'm missing something simple.DETAILS for those who care.
I'm building an e-book cover.I sized the canvas to the size of my cover. After creating a new layer, I assumed I could put my text in that layer (My book title, author, etc.), and then on another layer put my graphics/photos and later merge them all together once the placement/sizing was right.Once I add a new layer, the text tool appears to be writting, but it's writing in a transpent font from what I can tell. if I go back to the original canvas, the text tool is working and I can change the color/font size/style, etc as expected.
how to use the text tool on the canvas layer, but once adding another layer.
Why Paint.NET doesn't create text Layer? (Like Photoshop)
In Paint.NET we can't edit texts.
Please build text layers feature in version 4.
I just purchased a plr blog and I cannot figure out how to edit the header text. I want to change the text to match my domain name. The file is a psd but I believe paint.net can edit psd?
The header is: [URL]......
I also uploaded the psd file: [URL].......
Here is what I want to do. I have the letters 'XC' which I've played with a bit to look the way I want and due to anti-aliasing has nice edges. Now I want to basically fill those letters with an image. I can't figure out how to do this and keep the nice anti-aliased edges.
Current steps:
1. load image as base layer
2. Create new layer with text in it
3. using magic wand select a threshold that has smoothest edges on text layer
4. select image layer and copy the selection area... notice the hard edges of the finished result in the attached example. I want it nice and smooth and anti-aliased.
How to do this more elegantly? I've attached the basics of what I'm doing and the result.

Wondering is there a way to automatically resize a new layer to fit the dimensions of the image your working on, eg. auto resize a border to the outer dimensions of a picture..?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI added a layer, then theres no way to add any picture in new layer. If I import from file, it makes a new background .layer. But I want to make a new layer as forground and insert picture in it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been marking-up images with vector text (on vector layer) and have some issues. After clicking to position the text box, typing in text and then clicking the CHECK tool button to 'set', how does one go about deselecting that text object? It's not working smoothly here!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot go back and edit a text layer. There appears to be no way to re-edit text once you move off of the text area during it's creation. Am I missing something? Is there a great plugin to fix this deficit?
View 5 Replies View RelatedBut Im trying to watermark my still pictures of a gif i created, and whenever I add text to one image, I dont know how to make the text "bleed through" to the other images so I wont have to replace them in the same place ect. it always looks sloppy and out of place whenever I re-type the text into a different image.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe attached image has transparencythat I don't want.
What I would like to do is eliminate all transparency from the image so that I can then use the eraser tool to make transparent the areas that I want transparent.
I can't figure out how to remove all transparency from the image / layer. I'm new to paint.net, it may be obvious to others how to do this but not to me
The layer properties (where I thought I'd fix this) show opacity 255 now but the image still has unwanted transparency.

It try bring an image into paint layer. I found that there is this function:
PaintLayerImporter() and it takes 4 parameters. They are:
1) const QString &sFileName, ///< Name of the file to import
2) int iFileTypeIndex, < Index of the type of the file in the array returned by SupportedExtensions
3) Mesh *pMesh, ///< Mesh which contains the paint layer
4) TexturePool *pTarget ///< Destination of the import operation
But I'm not able to get this function to work. Any small example how to use it.
I think that main problem for me is that I don't know exactly what 2) parameter means(int iFileTypeIndex). It says that you get that from SupportedExtensions but When I look at it:
virtual QVector<FileExtension> SupportedExtensions( void );
It surely dosen't look int.
since the last update for Paintshop Pro X4, I can't add a new layer form the layers palette and I cant edit the text color at all. I can change the color in the palette but it will not change in the text at all. Is it me or is it a bug?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I Select All/Copy a photo to Paste as New Layer on top of another photo, it always pastes as a humongous image. I have to scroll & scroll & scroll down to find grab handles, then fiddle & fiddle resizing the image to the same size as the underlying photo. I take the photos with the same camera. Seems to me the photos ought to be the same size!
View 3 Replies View RelatedAn image of a tree with fine branches in winter against a sky I want to darken. My goal is to create a duplicate layer of the image to darken but where the tree is transparent so I can put the darkened layer on top of the orignal image with an undarkened tree. Before my computer crashed, I used a plugin for this called, I thought, Alpha Mask. In this example, by selecting a spot on the tree I could make either everything the color of the tree or everything not disappear into transparency. But I can't seem to find the plugin now. I did look at the index of plugins and found some listings under Alpha, but none are described as the tool I need here (best I can tell).
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you centrally allign text horizontally and vertically in a text box, the text sits slightly high of the centre. Is there any way of setting an action or setting to deal with this rather than adjusting by eye every time?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been doing some group photos for my work and would like to overlay our logo and text, but be able to use it again for other shots and change the text when needed. Something like class photos where all I would change would be the text.
Can I create a transparent PSP image that can then be overlaid any future photos?
I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?
