Paint.NET :: Auto Fit Layer To Image?
Jul 23, 2011Wondering is there a way to automatically resize a new layer to fit the dimensions of the image your working on, eg. auto resize a border to the outer dimensions of a picture..?

Paint Shop Pro :: Workspace Auto-loads Unwanted Image
Jun 7, 2013I can open PSP X4 and edit and process images as desired. My workspace opens to Edit, as I've located that menu selection. I do not have any saved workspace configurations/files. Based on what I've read in the few hundred messages so far, I'd like to avoid a full reset of the program defaults, but if that's the only option, so it goes.
What is happening is that in as-yet undetermined situations, I get an automatic load of an old image. I've been able to recognize that the image that happens to load is the first one in the tray on the Manage tab. I don't use the Manage tab at all and only ventured over there as part of the preliminary diagnostic process to posting this message. Once I discovered that, I renamed the image in the tray and the sequence repeated with the next image in the tray, which repositioned itself to the first location.
I can "force" an auto-load in the edit window simply by starting with an empty edit window, clicking on the Manage tab and then back to the edit window. The first image in the tray magically appears. This magic also happens when I've closed another image that's been loaded. Of course, now that I'm posting this, I can't make it happen other than in the manner described above.
I'd like to have it so when I close the image in the edit window that I'm left with a blank edit window on a consistent basis. If I can determine how the image auto-loads in a manner different than described above, I'll add it here.
Paint.NET :: Image Editor Software Auto-straighten Feature?
Feb 7, 2012I used to use an image editor software (can't remember the name) that had an auto-straighten feature. Basically you could drag a line onto the image, and "draw" it along the correct angle of the image. Then the software would rotate the image just enough to make that line look completely horizontal.
Is there any way to do this in Paint.Net? Maybe with an Add-in? I loved that feature, and I find the layers rotate dialog box to be annoying to use.

Mar 24, 2011I would like to make a composite image with source images making up the various layers (so I can work my magic on each layer indepent of the others). The problem I have is that not all of the images I'm using are to the right scale. What I want to do is resize those layers that are too big. Here's an example...
Let's say I have 5 pictures that I want to use to make one composite image from. The main background layer will be made from an image that is, say 800x600.
Another picture (let's call this subject 1) is 600x600 and is already at the right scale if I cut out the portion I want to keep and lay it on top of the background layer.
Yet another picture (subject 2) is huge (think 2000x2000). I would like to cut out the portion I would like to use and drop it in as a new layer and then obviously re-size it down to the correct scale. I'd prefer to do this directly in the composite image I'm making on its own layer to ensure I get the size right (and without manipulating the image guess-work style before I cut/paste it in).And so on...
I've found ways to make the canvas bigger (not what I want to do)... but not anything on how to resize the images on individual layers without impacting the other layers. Is there a way to do this?
Photoshop :: Drawing Outside The Layer Auto-Select Layer
Feb 19, 2008I have an image with 8 layers and i want to draw lines. So I make a new layer. While this layer is selected, i select the line tool and draw a line. Then, as I want to move this line, I select the move tool and try to move it. But instead of moving the line I just drew, photoshop automatically switches to my background layer (although i'm not sure it's defined as "background layer") and moves the entire content of the layer.
To see what actually happened, i hid each layer in the layer palette... And still... here was my line. (with all layers hidden, is it POSSIBLE to have anything?)
I tried to select my line and then, using the move tool, move it, but the message "could not move the selection because the selected area is empty"...

The layer properties (where I thought I'd fix this) show opacity 255 now but the image still has unwanted transparency.

Jan 23, 2012It try bring an image into paint layer. I found that there is this function:
PaintLayerImporter() and it takes 4 parameters. They are:
1) const QString &sFileName, ///< Name of the file to import
2) int iFileTypeIndex, < Index of the type of the file in the array returned by SupportedExtensions
3) Mesh *pMesh, ///< Mesh which contains the paint layer
4) TexturePool *pTarget ///< Destination of the import operation
But I'm not able to get this function to work. Any small example how to use it.
I think that main problem for me is that I don't know exactly what 2) parameter means(int iFileTypeIndex). It says that you get that from SupportedExtensions but When I look at it:
virtual QVector<FileExtension> SupportedExtensions( void );
It surely dosen't look int.

Aug 1, 2013When I Select All/Copy a photo to Paste as New Layer on top of another photo, it always pastes as a humongous image. I have to scroll & scroll & scroll down to find grab handles, then fiddle & fiddle resizing the image to the same size as the underlying photo. I take the photos with the same camera. Seems to me the photos ought to be the same size!

My goal is to create a duplicate layer of the image to darken but where the tree is transparent so I can put the darkened layer on top of the orignal image with an undarkened tree. Before my computer crashed, I used a plugin for this called, I thought, Alpha Mask. In this example, by selecting a spot on the tree I could make either everything the color of the tree or everything not disappear into transparency. But I can't seem to find the plugin now. I did look at the index of plugins and found some listings under Alpha, but none are described as the tool I need here (best I can tell).

Dec 20, 2011I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?

Photoshop :: Auto Align Object In One Layer To Another?
May 20, 2012I am actually an Encore user who uses Photoshop only for the menu. I am not experience with Photoshop.
A button in Encore menu is made up with a few layers. Example here can be a box and a text label below. These are 2 different layers in Photoshop, grouped together.
I'd like to aling the text label the to box. Normally the box is wider than the label. So a simple arrangement is center the text label according to the text width and box width. Right now, I have to manually adjust it by choosing both and align "center". Is there any way to automatically center the text label?

Sep 7, 2008My problem: Because I deal with a lot of layers and groups I always strive to find some easier way to manage them and one of the things I always struggle with is getting everything in one group to stay a certain width or height, especially text.
Desired Solution: I combine each section, such as all the elements for the left column, in its own group and label it accordingly (A life saver when trying to find and edit something ). Then when I add an element to a group I would like the predefined width restriction applied to it so that no content can extend outside that area even if I take my text tool and select the entire document.
Is there any way to do this? Right now I'm stuck with using vibrant group backgrounds with the desired width or height as a guide. This isn't too bad a solution but can sometimes be time consuming, especially if there's a lot of content. If this is possible is there also some way to apply a padding to it?
Photoshop :: Text Layer Name Auto Update
Apr 28, 2008When you create a text layer, it automatically names the layer whatever you type. If you go and rename the layer, it keeps that name regardless of what you type on your document.
What I want to do is revert the layer back to doing it's auto naming thing. Is there any way to doa that?
I can't just do "undo". Its an old document. I know I can copy the text into a new text layer and it will name it the way I want to, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to.

I know layer translation command is available but every time I have to select what the layers translate to. It would be nice if there was a way to add the new architect layers into a database so when we run the lisp or program the layers will automatically change to our layers we use.

Nov 15, 2013I am trying to figure out if there is a LISP or autocad add-on to start a library of architectural layers to be translated to our layers. So all I would need to do is hit a toolbar button and the LISP/Program would take a layer from archetects prints that I already added to a database that already knows what layer to change that layer to and so if there are different layers in the CAD drawing I can add them to the database so it will be saved for future layer translations. So once we get the database started I am hoping after awhile I wouldn't have to add any layers since they are already in the database to change the layers too.

May 10, 2011Paint.net auto saves my files as PNG. This is VERY annoying because I am saving many, many files. Each time I save I have to switch it to JPEG. If it is PNG I cannot see the file on my PC (it will be invisible). Plus, more programs use JPEG than PNG. This auto choosing PNG is a big waist of my time/energy/effort. is there an option to change this?
