I used to use an image editor software (can't remember the name) that had an auto-straighten feature. Basically you could drag a line onto the image, and "draw" it along the correct angle of the image. Then the software would rotate the image just enough to make that line look completely horizontal.
Is there any way to do this in Paint.Net? Maybe with an Add-in? I loved that feature, and I find the layers rotate dialog box to be annoying to use.
if I use the Straighten tool (first the ruler to mark out a horizon line, then click the Straighten Layer button), Photoshop used to straighten the picture, and then automatically crop it so that none of the extra canvas shows.
When I do that now, it just straightens it, and leaves me to manually crop the picture.
Wondering is there a way to automatically resize a new layer to fit the dimensions of the image your working on, eg. auto resize a border to the outer dimensions of a picture..?
How do I disable, remove, destroy, the image tabbing (document) feature that is anoying as heck? I don't want tabs. Every time i enlarge an image (scrollwheel) or i drag an image close to the top of the workspace EVERYTHING gets tabbed again. I want to totally remove this feature.
Paint.net has everything I need in an image editor, except for the way it handles text layers. It would be nice if text would be a special kind of layer, which allows you to change it after doing some other work on a different layer. Right now if you want to change text you have to redo it.
I just got X3 today after using PSP since 2000 or so. but for the life of me I can't find the minimize button anywhere. All I get are tabs, but no minimize options so I can switch between them like I'm used to doing. Also is there a fix to go to the X2 type organizer, instead of having them all show at the bottom?
If you right-click an image and click "Edit" in Windows, this opens the image in MS Paint. And you can't change this. Or that's what I thought; here's how to change that to Paint.NET!
Warning: This post probably looks really suspicious since this is my first post. What the heck. Anyways, I know diddly squat about the Registry. Some tweak sites for XP mentioned this tweak (stating this key would be found at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ SystemFileAssociations \ image \ shell \ edit \ command). That exact key didn't exist. So, I searched the Registry for "SystemFileAssociations" and found the key I wrote below (in HKLM). I then took a huge risk and tried the hack. It worked, but I may have inadvertently told Windows to delete C:\Windows upon reboot.
All right, so if you right-click an image in Windows XP, Vista, or 7, there is an option in the context menu called "edit". This defaults to MS Paint and I thought that was impossible to change. Until I did some Google'ing (see Warning above). Go to this registry key:
First, back up your registry (System Restore or regedit.exe -> File -> Export). Again, anything you do now is completely your responsibility. Then, right-click the only key in there, click Modify, and replace the path with your PaintDotNet.exe path (obviously include \PaintDotNet.exe). Don't change the quotes or the %1. Just delete MS Paint's path and insert PaintDotNet.exe's path.
I can open PSP X4 and edit and process images as desired. My workspace opens to Edit, as I've located that menu selection. I do not have any saved workspace configurations/files. Based on what I've read in the few hundred messages so far, I'd like to avoid a full reset of the program defaults, but if that's the only option, so it goes.
What is happening is that in as-yet undetermined situations, I get an automatic load of an old image. I've been able to recognize that the image that happens to load is the first one in the tray on the Manage tab. I don't use the Manage tab at all and only ventured over there as part of the preliminary diagnostic process to posting this message. Once I discovered that, I renamed the image in the tray and the sequence repeated with the next image in the tray, which repositioned itself to the first location.
I can "force" an auto-load in the edit window simply by starting with an empty edit window, clicking on the Manage tab and then back to the edit window. The first image in the tray magically appears. This magic also happens when I've closed another image that's been loaded. Of course, now that I'm posting this, I can't make it happen other than in the manner described above.
I'd like to have it so when I close the image in the edit window that I'm left with a blank edit window on a consistent basis. If I can determine how the image auto-loads in a manner different than described above, I'll add it here.
When in Edit mode and I click Straighten tool or Clone, say, the there is no windows dialogue box to say select horizontal or vertical correction or even the tick to apply. Where has it disappeared to? How do I restore it?
when using the autosave feature or having it enabled. When I work a lot of times I have a main file that I use as a template to create other pages from. So I will open template and update things on it and then save as and name that as a new file. My question is if I open this template file and make a few changes will it autosave those which will basically overwrite my template. I have the autosave feature turned off right now because I wasn't sure if it would do that.
I know previous versions of Max have this feature. When you do a planar projection on a face it should retain the aspect ratio of that projection rather then squashing the UVs to fit in the entire box.
Not having this work correctly results in the user having to rescale the UVs so they aren't squashed again and its a waste of my time.
Is there a "Keep aspect ratio" option I'm missing when using the Max 2012 UV projections tools?
In CS6 I have an image that was scanned in and is crooked. I use the Crop tool to drag the crop marks around the portion of the image I want to keep and I press the Check mark to do the crop.
It crops the image though it does not straighten it out. In previous versions of Photoshop it use to crop and straighten the image by cropping it. How do you now use the Crop tool to straighten an image?
One of my students was using the Ruler tool to straighten an image. Her image kept flipping way off the canvas to one side, even though we checked to make sure her reference point for rotation was in the middle of the image (it was).
I can't duplicate the mistake or find any other complaints about/reference to it .
Is there a way to turn off the auto-insert into Power clip feature (nuisance)?
I know I can hold down the "F" key to ignore, but seriously, this is a pain in the neck. Yes, I use Power clips extensively, but I need to control them instead of them controlling me.
Is there some way we can turn off the auto highlight feature in inventor 2012? I am working in a large assembly and every time I move the cursor over the assembly it is trying to pre highlite parts and assemblys and it really causing alot of delay in my work.
The way I used to adjust feature lines was to highlight the node I wanted to adjust and then raise or lower that elevation incrementally until I got to a grade that worked.
Now I've noticed that when I highlight a node and hit the button to raise or lower, it forgets which node I had highlighted after the first press. This is a problem because now I either have to click on the node every time, because if I don't it will raise or lower the elevation of the entire feature line.
I am editing a Postgis table using the OSGeo FDO Provider for PostgreSQL/PostGIS in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012. As i have noticed that the serial type of the ID field does not give an automatic value to de ID field after inserting a new feature in the layer and after checking in (AutoCAD Map seems not to understand de nextval(sequence_name) function in the DEFAULT property of the ID field(thats how the autonumeric numbers work in PostgreSQL)), i am using a database side trigger which gives the next sequence value to the ID field of the new record. The trigger is launched BEFORE inserting a new record.
The problem is that after executing the trigger, in AutoCAD Map all the fields are still shown as null, and they are not displayed until i manually refresh the layer.
Is there any way to auto-refresh the layer after checking in a new feature?
Is there any way to increase the size of the marker that shows up on the plan view when you select a PI in the elevation editor? It is so small that if I have the feature line selected I can't see the marker over the highlighted line. I generally have to zoom to a PI so I can see where I am.
I have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
I have used Adobe for a long time for processing a whole group of photographs at one time. I correct, signature to right or left, etc. I am just starting to use Paint.net and do like it, but need to be able to do bulk processing. below is my wed site .
Paint.net auto saves my files as PNG. This is VERY annoying because I am saving many, many files. Each time I save I have to switch it to JPEG. If it is PNG I cannot see the file on my PC (it will be invisible). Plus, more programs use JPEG than PNG. This auto choosing PNG is a big waist of my time/energy/effort. is there an option to change this?
In terms of feature sets, it seems like a few more things are needed to make this a full-fledged compositor... (so one doesn't have to leverage AE/Nuke/etc.).
In particular: - 3d projector - 3d tracker - scene to point cloud (or even automated 2d to 3d conversion??) - particle system
These things seem to be standard elsewhere... For us, it seems sort of crucial to add that. We think that not having to round trip is a really great edge of Smoke, and the integration between CFX and the time-line is very well done! However, then there's so many things missing compared to other packages. And those are the type of features that can really create more complex scenes and really speed up the work.
Also check out the new context-aware patch/move/paste tools in Photoshop. That would be a great addition to the paint module. CS6 has a timeline now and offers a lot more in terms of paint. Esp. if one can apply context moves to the entire motion sequence with auto-paint (that's something where PS CS6 still lags).
I love using the Black and White feature under Adjustments, but I was wondering if there was an option to replace Black with another colour? (Blue and White, Red and White)?
