I've have a problem right now. When I do a modification on a object in a view. I dont see the update interactively in all the other view. It s something that always work in all the other version of maya. And then after 5 min in maya 2012 I realize that. Hope there a way to fix that. Dont tell me to activate the playback in all view I m not talking about animation.
View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading to Inventor 2014 we notice that the graphics do not work properly, and that the overall performance in drawings and modelling bad compared to 2013. Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..
Any workaround regarding disappearing views?
It seems (I think) that the fast way to layout the aligment could be to use the tangent-curva-tangent option.
The question is... I cant change the radii with the mouse, I have to do it at subentuty editor.... which is tired and unproductive....

On digital tutors i learned that the blob brush size can be changed interactively. But since i use a mac in combination with a cintiq and a swiss german keyboard i cannot use the bracket keys.
They also don't work when i assign the us keyboard settings. How can the brush size of the blob brush be changed interactively?
I just got Maya 2012 student edition. I created a quick rig with the default maya settings (Skeleton gen, Characterization tool, Character controls).
The position of the rig doesn't update until I let go of the controls. On other rigs the rig updates real time.
We make a small Animation Movie and from time to time we stumble upon strange behaviours of the referencing pipeline.
There is a Kitchen that will be the scenery for the Movie Scene Set up: all models i.e the toaster, the fridge ansd so on are modeled and saved.then in the Kitchen File we have an empty scene where all the objects are referenced in. thats the "model master"scene.now we referenced the toaster_model into toaster_shaded, did all the shading and changed the references in the kitchen from toaster_model to toaster_shaded.
On some objects we noticed, that the updates made on the models for examlpe if we scale up the toaster on 2 and freeze transforms afterwards, the change is not updated in the Kitchen file. But after a few days the update works...

I've got a macro which is creating .ipt and .idw files from templates. I'm once created I'm replacing the reference in the .idw to refer to the newly created .ipt file. The problem is that the drawing view isn't updating... I've make the .ipt file dirty then udpate the drawing, but that hasn't worked. I've tried just using the drawingdocument.update function, but that hasn't worked either...

I mean if I go into the View drawing, move the drawing in question, then update the model space view, shouldn't that update the sheet view automatically? However you can place another base view of the same system from a different perspective and that view will solve out.
In the attached image the view on the left will not finish updating while the view on the right solve out rather quickly.
When I place an Inventor 2012 part into an AutoCAD 2012 layout, the drawing view fails to update after a change is made to the Inventor file. When I click "Update View" in AutoCAD the command line says, "1 view(s) is up to date.", but the drawing does not change. Both the AutoCAD drawing and the Inventor part file are located on a server drive which is mapped as a network drive. AutoCAD displays the correct path in the drawing view properties. Running Windows 7 x64.

After each iteration, i want to update the 3D-View in Inventor to show the calculated changes. For this, i call the Update Method of the current View (ActiveView property of Application).
Unfortunately, the redraw does not happen unless i keep moving the mouse over the window. Is there another method / way to achieve the desired result (forced redrawing for smooth animations)? The Update method of the Document does not seem to work, either.

I have a rigged, poly character, and when trying to change the view to wireframe, I changed the display resolution of the character. I think I maybe hit "3" instead of "4". But now the charactere is displayed with the low-poly cage surrounding the smoothed geometry, and I do not know how to switch the display back so I do not see the low poly cage any longer.
I am attempting to import 3d models from a software called Daz studio into Maya. The models enter motionbuilder and 3ds Max with no problem. When I import them into Maya they come in as wireframe. I have been unable to take the wireframe off of the model. The file format I am using is FBX. wHEN I RENDER an image of the model i am able to see it in it's realistic form-but when i attempt to see it in the viewport it is wireframe.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Maya 2011 for a while now with relatively few real problems.
Recently I followed a modeling tutorial and everything was going great until it came to the application of materials and rendering. I applied materials of my own design and when I click on the Textured view icon in the perspective window, Maya freezes and nothing works...I have to open the task manager and terminate the process and re-start Maya.
It does not happen with other models or animations that I work on, just this one. I have looked at all my settings and there is nothing unusual happening as far as I can see!
If I render the model, it works fine in: Maya Software (No problem - looks great!), Maxwell Render (fine but very slow) and Maya Vector (Fine but obviously not what I want!).
If I try to render using Maya Hardware or VRAY it freezes up Maya and I have to terminate the program as before.
Once again other models and projects render fine in Maya Harware or VRAY
I have a couple of students whose models are flashing polygons badly when I orbit the panel. It kind of looks like when you have two polygons residing on the same plane, but I checked and that is not the case. The flashing stops when I zoom in on the model. When selecting an object, it becomes transparent (when zoomed out a bit).
The students said this occurred after they brought their model into the student edition, which they have at home, and saved it.
I am at a loss, and visually it is really bad. The renders are fine. Some of their objects have some modeling issues, but the flashing occurs with all objects, even simple ones.
Is there a setting for the time range where I only see frames that have keys? say I have the keys spaced out over time for my animation. but now I want to just veiew the keys and I don't want to use < and > to run through all the keys and I don't want to have hundreds of frames to scroll through..
like a Show-key frames only. type of thing.
All I have to do to get Maya to freeze is to open Hypershade and view all shaders.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using maya since 8.5 and there's a notorius bug that will probably be never addressed by maya developers. I just upgraded to 2012 and am getting this again: // Warning: Could not find an appropriate startup camera: side. A substitute will be used.
And i took all the preventive actions: window size and position are not saved with file, i always go back to four view before saving, etc. Still no joy.
In fact the side camera is not missing, it's right there and fully functional. What happens as a consequence of this error is that one of the rotation axes in perspective view are locked, i can't rotate my scene around the Y axis.
It doesn't work either if i export my object and import it back into a fresh scene. Axis remains locked. I'm losing my scenes that i've put insane amount of work into. No hope to restore them.
I would like to create a simple polyplane in the side view in Maya. When I try to do this nothing happens and the software suggests I start on the grid but you cannot see the grid in the side view.

Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?

adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?

I made a change to my materials library. I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material. I then saved this back to my library.
Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library. So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).
This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle. It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).

The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in. That is a bunch of work. The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it. The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.
I see the same thing in 2013 and 2014.

The example would be that I have stuff made from way back that the colors/dimension sytles ect dont match the current standard and upon opening a file where they are not current, it would either prompt to update immediatly OR update automatically with no prompting (preferred method).
I am doing a massive amount of updates from old files recently and to save myself 1 - 3 clicks per drawing would be wonderful.
