AutoCAD Inventor :: Material Favorites Does Not Update When Update Materials
Dec 9, 2013
I made a change to my materials library. I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material. I then saved this back to my library.
Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library. So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).
This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle. It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).
Here is a short video showing what it does. [URL] .....
The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in. That is a bunch of work. The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it. The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.
I changed the names and locations of my parts in an assembly, opened the drawing, and found all of the parts and names. I then looked at the parts list on the assemblies in the drawings. Even though the assemblies updated, the part name did not update. How do I update the BOM to match the assembly (I thought it would do this automatically?)?
I am wondering if it is possible to do a style update (or style update check) upon open of a drawing?
The example would be that I have stuff made from way back that the colors/dimension sytles ect dont match the current standard and upon opening a file where they are not current, it would either prompt to update immediatly OR update automatically with no prompting (preferred method).
I am doing a massive amount of updates from old files recently and to save myself 1 - 3 clicks per drawing would be wonderful.
I have an SAT file that I inserted into a Conceptual Mass Family and then loaded into a Revit project. I have changed the name of the object in the Object Styles/Imported Objects dialog and assigned a unique material to it as well.
When I load it into the project its generally fine, sections/plans/elevations/section boxes work fine. When I try to update the material settings or the material it retains the original material settings. After the second attempt at assigning a new material: Crash Error Unexpected something or other Shut down.
I opened the original Mass famiily and updated the material shading once and it worked fine. I did it again and: Crash Error Unexpected something or other Shut down.
This is not my first time to use this process. Probably the fiftieth time. However it is the first time I've used it in 2014 with the new(really old) improved (fixed) materials dialog.
Is there a bug or known issue in 14 vs. 13. Am I missing a hotfix? It works on 13.
i just noticed that there is no manual update file for ACR 7.2. most of our company computers are offline.
how should we update them without a manual update file?
[URL]..........
adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?
I get the following error message when I attempt to update X6. Not sure what to do about it.
CRC error: The file C:ProgramDataCoralDRAW Graphics Suite X6.1CGS16w_cproc_p_11.1.048_redist_intel64.exe doesnt match the file in the setup's .cab File. The medium from which you are running the setup may be currupted; contact your software vender.
When transfering images from Lightroom to Photoshop HDR for instance. message says update Camera Raw. Update attempts all come back to 'update server is not in service' --
I am looking for ways to add actual custom materials - not (just) in appearance, but in actual material properties (elasticity, etc). I have looked at wiki and searched this forum (and others) but I haven't been able to find anything of the sort... but the properties of the few aluminium alloys available are not those that we use... besides that we need them at specific temperature ranges (and honestly, I haven't been able to find any temperature controls in the FEA yet either.) And.. is there a more direct, faster, way to assign materials then [big I Pro button] > iPropperties > Physical? Right click on the solid and selecting "material" seems so much more ideal.
how Inventor Materials are used in your companies, what is your customization level and usage level.Do you use Inventor Materials as they come out of the box ?Do you create your own materials?
Do you modify the properties of existing Inventor materials without changing the material name?Do you show material names on 2D drawings (in parts list etc)?
Is it possible to get the COG to update its self automatically when I change an assembly / part without having to turn it on and off again? At the moment, as soon as I change a part it just goes grey and has absolutely no use (shows where the COG was, but not is). Obviously this is a bit pointless, so is there a way to make the COG automatically update without any input from me?
I am using Inventor Pro 2010.I have a model and I am driving the dimensions from EXCEL. The model updates nicely when I change dimensions but the drawing (idw) does nothing. In the browser instead of the usual tree in the view there is this red lightning bolt and under them is a big plus (+) sign and the words Solid.... after it.I was assuming that the lightning bolt meant something needed updating, but I can't find how this is done.
Made some minor changes / updates to our .idw template and would like to update previous .idw's to the new template. Can this be done automatically? Is this done in styles?
I have opened previous .idw's and checked for updates in styles and none are shown. The changes/updates are to the title block and revision table. New drawings open with the new template changes, but we would like those changes to any previous drawings as well.
I have a fuel tank assembly and created a subs lod for use in the top level assembly.
I changed the length, width and height of the tank body. The assembly is fine but the subs LoD isn't updating properly. I have tried rebuild all from both the tank assembly and the top level assembly. Even if I open the subs derived part I cant get it to update.
Is there anyway to shut off the notification window for errors occured during update? I am swapping parts in an assembly so I know constraints will have to be repaired, but it doesn't work that I have to click on the 'accept' button everytime I move an object
I am looking to add Acme screws to my project file - I am using the thread sheet from this thread. My question is, can I add these threads to my project as I need to be able to edit this project on multiple computers (the project is synced with git)?
Currently I am using I-logic and a form. I have an assembly that I am pushing a volume from a part to the main assembly. The volume updates in the part fine. The issue is with the form is not updating when the file parameter updates. If I exit the form and run the rule manually then the form updates. how to update the form at the same time?
the newest model I have made I have run into some troubles. When I switch between one member and another most parameters update correctly but the part is still requiring an update before the finished part is created.
When the feature small sheds is enabled the pattern isn't working correctly. It seems as though the height that controls the sheds is not updating during the member change process and is causing the pattern to be the wrong length.
I have set up a form to add my parameters as there are a large number in the ipart table.I can't generate my member files as they show the member before it is updated and is wrong.
I am having some issues concerning updating drawings. When a part (.IPT) is placed in a drawing, everything is fine (ie. the views represented in the drawing are up-to-date). Yet, when I make a change to the part (something as small as a dimensional change) it does not translate through to the drawing. This is also the case for iProperties.
I have been playing around for a while now, but have had no luck. The part is also an iPart, but this shouldn't matter.
I just had Inventor 2010 reinstalled on a new workstation with Windows 7. On any new drawings my line weights are fine.
On any drawings created before the new install, the line weights are all the wrong thicknesses now when I open them on my machine. They used to be fine and to our company standard.
How do I get it to where my line weights are correct on all idw drawings.
I am having a problem with a sketch not updating the parameters when using a "while / end while" command.
Basically if you have a right angled triangle (as attached) with one side and the angle doing the driving then I wish to update the sketch until the last side which is a reference dimension reaches a preset dimension.
I cannot get the updated sketch to read back into the while command to stop when the limit is reached. Instead it goes on an infinite loop until the sketch breaks.
I have used every update under the sun and can get nothing to work.
Trigonometry not an option as this is a basic example of what I wish to achive.
I have seen an example of this working but only for reading the iproperties so dimensions can change until a volume is reached.
It is possible to create parts that can update there size from changing the "root" (possibly called the derived-from part??) dimensions. I have a tubular frame structure and there is sheet metal components that enclose this structure.
We make these units in 2 standard sizes, but in the last few months, we have been getting requests from clients for extra components to be installed or sometimes components to be removed. This changes the size of the unit. Also depending on which mine they go to, some need to be shorter or longer and wider or narrower.
I have created a frame that I can change easily to to required dimensions, but it would be a dream if all the sheet metal components updated to the frame size. Most times these doors and sheet metal components stay in the same location, so if everything updated with a simple change to the frame size, that would make my job easier, and leave me more time to create new products.
I can't upload any files due to size, but I have attached a few screen shot to clarify things. Basically it is a frame unit, with doors and access panels to electrical components inside.
I made a significant change to an assembly that messed up several constraints. I fixed all the constraints using the red cross button but the local update button is still lit up and won't do anything when I click it.
I have a global form which is exactly made for a specific assembly for configuration of this very assembly. To make things easier for the user I call another external rule which only opens exactly this assembly.
Now when the user opens the form the assembly is not open and obviously can´t reference the used parameters.
Even after loading the assembly the parameters are not available, which results in something like this:
So this is a really simple question, is there a way to update a form so that it rereads the parameters from the assembly?
What I tried is using iLogicForm.CloseGlobal("Name of form") to no availability and then open it again with iLogicForm.ShowGlobal("Name of form").
But I couldn´t find any further info on the iLogicForm Commands.
I have a parameters only part which drives the parts in an assembly. When I change the parameters and go back into the assembly I am getting an error. I can accept the error and drag the parts around and they snap into place, which ends the error. It works, but isn't very appealing to the eye. Is there any way to fix this?
Why is it that individual views in an .idw always need to be updated? I will highlight a view, the thunderbolt icon lights up, I choose to update it, the view in the browser turns red and then the view up dates. if I highlight the view again it tells me the view needs to be updated again.
