The video pretty much explains it. Randomly when I move the pivot (d) and snap to point (v) it crashes on mouse release. This has been happening recently more than is acceptable.
I included about 30 seconds up to the issue to show what exactly I was doing before the crash.
We are just trying out Maya on the OSX Platform.
In the tutorial that we are going through, we are asked to select 2 curves, center the pivot point, and then hit the 'Insert' key to allow us to move the pivot point, and then holding down the 'C' key we should be able to move the pivot point along the curve.
Looking around we found that if you hit the 'fn + left arrow' keys you are meant to get the same as using the 'insert' key on the PC, but this is not right, and also when you try to hold down the 'C' key it does not allow the pivot point to be constrained to the curve.
So where is the 'Insert' key on the Mac?
I am puzzled about how to zero out rotation my object's pivot point when I rotate said pivot point using the "insert" key (on a pc). Furthermore, any subsequent object I make after that has its pivot point off just like the first object when I rotate its pivot point. In fact, even when I start a whole new scene, the pivot point rotation of any object is off just like the first time I rotated the first object's pivot point in a previous scene.

I can transform, rotate, and scale the verts relative to the selection's center. However, recently whenever I want to scale my selected verts the scaling origin goes to the center of the object instead of the selection. This becomes somewhat irritating since it doesn't give the expected results. I've included a few pictures demonstrating my problem.

Opened drawings but cannot brows to select and save new path for xrefs. No brows button exists.
I am using acad LT 2012. So many unnecessary changes for so little benefit. Miss my old square screen also.
How do I update the path in simple terms nice and easy like previous versions of autocad. Storing xrefs in same directory is not an option. Reference manager does not appear to be part of acad LT 2012.
Drawings will not open in previous versions due to autodesk objects so using my trusty acad LT 2007 is also not an option.
I am looking for a way to change the parameters of a part that is within an iAssembly. Basically we have tubing with flanges on the end and wish to have an easy way to model varying lengths. I essentially need to be able to have the upper level iAssembly control the flange spacing and cut the tube to length based on the users selection. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed Autocad 2012 LT on Windows XP sp3. The program opened and worked fine after the install. The user was not sure they wanted this version so I did not activate the program right away. After the user decided they wanted to keep this version I activated the program with a license and now the program will not open. Crashes and does not give an error message.
I have tried to uninstall and re-install. I uninstalled netframework 3.5 sp1 and re-installed, still will not open.
I posted a while ago as my AutoCAD 2012 keeps crashing when I try to save as. Well it doesn't crash as such it just freezes until I press ESC. I've also noticed it does this when I select LAYDEL.

I just installed Civil 3D 2012 64 bit on a new computer running Windows 8. It starts up fine, but when I pull up a drawing, about 1 or 2 minutes later, the program shuts down and I have to restart Civil 3D. I've pulled up several different drawings from different sources, and it does the same thing. First, a window pops up for a split second, and I can't read the contents of the window. Then, I get the window that says Civil 3D is shutting down.

After a plot, when someone goes to save and close the drawing, AutoCAD crashes. It does not matter which plot device is used, the result is the same. This includes the plot devices included in AutoCAD. I have reinstalled autocad on one machine, no lisp commands, same result. I have already tried some of the fixes proposed in other threads, nothing has worked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo 2011 had some issue and I though 2012 would get those fixed. I was wrong. More problems occur. With 2011 I was able to open assemblies directly through vault. Now with 2012, since the vault issue updates as it opens, I crash on any sizeable model or assembly. So now just to open a file, I must get it, then go to inventor and open it, and hit no when the refresh window come up. If I hit yes, it crashes. If I hit no it open, then if i hit local/global update it crashes. So technically I cant do any new work with any of my larger assemblies (2000+ parts) I have sent out numerous error reposrt, only for autodesk to say that they can replicate the problem. I have SP1 installed, and this is happening with other users at my company as well.

I have an issue with the student version of Maya 2013. This issue is reproducible in my environment when I try to align an edge to a snap point pressing the V key and move the edge with the move tool. May 2013 hang then and I have to close it ending the task in the task manager.Many times I deleted the Maya folder in my documents folder in order to start from the scratch, but it hangs again if I try the procedure i described above. Some times it take more time until Maya hang, some times after a few moves.I have installed Maya 2013 many times from the scratch, deleting before all the directories in the different locations (as described in an Autodesk paper).I have to run Maya 2013 while I need to export my files with an exporter which just work in the 32bit version of Maya.

At first, it was working fine but one day, I tried to Save As and Maya wasn't responding anymore... Had to go in the Task Manager to shut it down and when I did, it told me that the program wasn't responding. Later on, I found out that the problem wasn't only with the Save As function, but with every function that requires Maya to browse on my computer (Set Project, Open Scene, New Project, Create Reference, browsing textures, etc). I tried to uninstall and re-install Maya, did not work, delete the Maya folder in my documents, did not work, allow Maya in my firewall, did not work, even deactivate my firewall, did not work..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was working on setup up several camera animations in a file. I saved the file, and put the settings in for all 4 cameras to render. I started Batch Render running, it saved, began rendering the first frame and then Maya crashed. It was able to save a .mb version as it was closing. I have since been unable to get either file to open correctly.
If I try to directly open the files, they load 100%, the status bar immediately switches to "Writing <username>.20110503.<time>.ma" and the Crash Reporter appears before the viewport can even update and show the model.
If I try importing either file into a new document, it will load completely, and a dialog window pops up with: Could not save file"/var/folders/FL/FLo7J2o4H4OV9SDiREDU4U+++TI/-Tmp-/thompirson.20110503.1216.ma".
If you click OK, Maya crashes without the Crash Reporter opening.

I have a student license for Autodesk Maya 2012 (I'll need it for school), but whenever I try and start up the setup, I get this weird message:
error 1321. The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya2012PYTHON_LICENSE
Then the following message:
Fatal error during installation. #229: failed to run AdskExecuteSequence
Then "Failed to initialize Autodesk Maya 2012"
And then it the installation exits itself out.
I have a 32bit Windows computer.
I just got Maya 2012 student edition. I created a quick rig with the default maya settings (Skeleton gen, Characterization tool, Character controls).
The position of the rig doesn't update until I let go of the controls. On other rigs the rig updates real time.
We have been generating technical illustrations using Mental Ray in Maya 2011 with brilliant results. The studio upgraded to Maya 2012 and we now find that when we render any existing scenes, or any new scenes using entirely Maya 2012 nodes, we don't have any contour lines.
Our scenes are setup as follows:

Render Globals - Mental Ray Tab > Contours > Contrast Shader > Contour_Contrast_Function_Levels

why the scenes now don't have any contour lines?
